Breakthrough - Balanced RIP Kenshi. Why Balanced is Bottom 5 in MKX and it's a shame.

I really feel like i should stop playing MK X, since i only like Kenshi as a character and playing him makes me salty almost all the time. Competing with this character is suicidal at this point.

These statements are starting to irritate me lately. A lot of us only like x and y character, but he/she isn't in the game. I don't know about the others, but I would rather have my favorite character be low tier than not be in the game at all. I played Baraka for years and I would gladly do it again with the same tier placement because I had fun. I haven't played MKX in months because I simply do not care for the cast.

I feel Kenjutsu/possessed are equally his best for variation MU specifics

Keep in mind though saying "his best" is just that, his best. All 3 need buffs and work and ashenar or I could provide a suggestive list

Fair enough, can't argue personal taste. However it's a bit much to say the character is unplayable as a whole, I played a lot of Kenjutsu and still sub him, he's very playable and so is Possessed, even if they aren't top 5, there is over 60 variations, its ok to not to be better than the majority of the game.

So I'll break it down to you in simple terms that might help you understand my stance.

1) what variation do I feel is his best one?
Answer : Kenjitsu

2) why do I feel this way?
Answer: because it has some tools that allows the player to play MKX.

3) do I feel like kenjitsu could win a tournament?

Answer: no because while the variation has tools to play the game. The end result will still be dealing with characters that are ether forcing plus frame launchers, safe armored launchers paired with 50/50's and pressure characters whom can cycle normals that destroy the slow armor launchers each variation has.

4) Do I think you have a valid point?
Answer: sure you do after all I'm sure you do well against the 2-3 players you play offline or even online.

Finally:

Not sure if the typical way you like to approach arguments is to turn a blind eye to what's in front of you and then attack the person with an insult. So my challenge to you is this then. Make a match up chart with Kenjitsu and play on pigs stream against top players and their high tier characters. Come back here and let us know what it is we all can do better and feel free to share you're amazing insight.

Kenjutsu was a decent mid-tier character before the patch due to the option selects and existence of characters like Jacqui, Takeda, and Jason.

Now they all got buffed, OS got removed, and Kenshi got close to nothing. To win with Kenjutsu you have to put in alot of work compared to your opponent, he's definitely on the lower side of the tier list.

When you have to work harder in almost every MU, always need meter to do combos, and be unsafe on your mixups then yeah it can be pretty bad.

I thought Kenjutsu was fine pre-patch but we're playing a completely different game and I don't think he really can be called as fine any longer.

We have moved on from our initial shock of what happened over those two days with exbuff. Now we are making the best of it still not happy but what can you do but work with what you got (at least I am and most others I can't speak for whole kano community)

I see where you are coming from. I really do, how it seems like balanced kenshi mains are whining, but right now. It really is that bad he literally has nothing going for him IN THE BALANCED VARIATION. The other 2 variations could get something but it isn't nearly as drastic as balanced. Literally everything he has sucks. Even his armor. The best part about him isn't that good. Balanced kenshi is objectively terrible but there is nothing I can do about it so I'm going to keep the rest of my opinions about him in private

I fully do think Kenjutsu could win a tourney. I think this is one of the most under-utilised characters and I think in a week I'm gonna go back to focusing on him. He really rewards a reactive play style.

The biggest thing to understand with kenshi is all his offense in balanced is fractional. Possessed is basically the same thing as balanced with minor mix up. Kenjitsu is the hybrid that meets both points half way. The problem is not at any single point does his offense on block net any follow up and once it's done it's the other players turn. While the defining moment of a top tier in this game is having an option that can net another situation where they continue offense or end their pressure after a safe 50/50 guess.

Really? Because of shit like that he is destined for mediocrity, and as Pig said it best, "a fair character in a broke game".

God I would pay money to have Pig as our character rep man lol.

There is no guarantee Baraka is a DLC character. For all we know those silhouettes are placeholders like before the game was released. However, if he or Smoke were to be DLC I would purchase them in a heartbeat and be excited to play again, but it would be smarter for NRS to choose more popular characters for the cash grab.

You're seriously, really wrong for putting Lasher up there, especially post patch. Lasher has the safest mixups that cost the least meter, out of all the possible Takedas. It has a place.
Unbreakable Sub Zero still doesn't do what he's supposed to, for as long as his projectile parry has absurdly long recovery and gets punished for use against projectiles... by another projectile.
Dualist Liu Kang, even with buffs, is an absolute poverty Dragon's fire.

Kinda hard to explain since on paper it doesn't look the best, but when you play him his space control with grab and push combined with his overheads(any character with a decent overhead is instantly not bad) make him a better character.

A shitty explanation I know but I've played hundreds of games against Kenshi and it goes Kenjutsu>=Possessed>>Balanced.
