Breakthrough - Balanced RIP Kenshi. Why Balanced is Bottom 5 in MKX and it's a shame.

Grundy want pants too.
What are kenshi's problems exactly? Genuinely have no idea why he struggles so much. Is balanced just bad? Cause the other two seem fine...
Balanced is a zoner, that's main tool for zoning is -41 and that's after buffs, and for an added insult to injury it's duckable. If teleflurry wiffs you're going to eat a full combo pretty much no matter where your opponent is on the screen. Then if things did get close range balanced has a number of strings with gaps in it. Compare that to the other zoners in the game like Kitana, who you can't jump in on and did really good damage before patch, Quan Chi, who has summoner vortex, sorcerer runes, and even Warlock now for a decent wake up, or new patch Tremor with high damage combos, corner traps, air quake and some of the best unbreakable damage in the game. Why would you pick Balanced over any of these characters?

Amen. Kenshi needs that teleflurry to recover faster (or getting changed to a mid attack). As a zoner he shouldn't be scared to zone.
I like Balanced style, but against some characters you have to play almost flawlessly and make lots of reads to not get blown up, and that sucks.

Now you are just overdoing it. Balanced, maybe, but Kenjutsu and Possessed are very playable, you have ample opportunity to play your favourite, this is just you being a whiner
I do not like his overall clunky feel. Nothing feels fluid with Kenshi to me. No whining here. More power to you if you feel he is good. Keep the dream alive, man.

I agree there is nothing fluid about Kenshi besides his swag as fuck brutals, fatals, and victory sword spins. As a more defensive player I enjoyed Kenshi. Kenjutsu is swag and possessed was just for annoying mofos. But I couldnt keep myself from wondering why I could sit full screen amd feels safe against him, close range I feel as if I was fightjng a stick with a bazooka. Kenshi does need work. Thats the god awful truth.

But at least he has overheads. Logic. I prefer Kitana and her no mix-up mix-ups. At least I can feel as if I excel in something. So I do feel for the Kenshi community. By logic, or mine at least, if your weak at one thing you excel at another. On the other hand I feel as if hes not as bad as some people say. He's viable, it just take patience and strong fundamentals. Or better yet @SonicFox5000 play Kenshi and show us the path.

Balanced is horrible. It has no ways to easily get in when it desperately needs to since it can't zone, it is always negative so nothing is plus, and has reachable specials that can be neutral ducked into full a combo punish across the screen by the majority of the cast. Don't forget every special after a block string in balanced is interruptible as well as his jump-ins being neutral on block so your opponent can easily armor out of any chance for "pressure" that you have. Let's also not forget Balanced's main strings all hit high for combo starters so low pokes go through it. It would be ok if his zoning was good but negative on hit, and a throw does more damage than any of it. Rising Karma doesn't have the best vertical hotbox either, you can sometimes jump right over it and characters who have fast run like Cassie can actually run through Tele-flurry, his main spacing tool. Spirit charge is very slow, unsafe even at max range, and is still negative when meter burned. If they get hurt who cares? 5-9% is nothing compared to the 40+ damage they'll do to you as soon as they get in which will happen easily. Do you have any idea how much characters in this game break armor like its nothing? Here's a hint; Cassie, Kung Jin, Tremor, Predator, Tanya, Raiden, Erron Black, Scorpion, Kitana, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Sonya, Johnny, D'Vorah, Goro, Mileena, etc.

@Pig Of The Hut Btw where do you think is Kenjutsu atm (in the List) with the removal of OS?
Kenjutsu was a decent mid-tier character before the patch due to the option selects and existence of characters like Jacqui, Takeda, and Jason.

Now they all got buffed, OS got removed, and Kenshi got close to nothing. To win with Kenjutsu you have to put in alot of work compared to your opponent, he's definitely on the lower side of the tier list.

Already awaiting some butthurt replies, but I'm asking anyways:

WHY do you guys make such threads!?

It's just today in the morning I was arguing with a friend. "TYM is crap load of whining loosers," he said, and I opposed him. But maybe he is right after all. B.Kenshi is fucked up, ok. But this thread won't help. NRS won't listen. Nobody cares (except for me). Play him for to the fullest or drop him and learn some GOOD characters...

P.S. I main Kenshi and Ferra Torr =)

someone gotta be bottom tier/bottom 5. might as well be him.

besides, its not like he doesn't have two other usable variations.

last but not least, balanced kenshi is one of the driest character in the game. hell, they can't even come up with a better name than "balanced" for this lame ass variation.

Mournful is under your name. Therefore everything you say is golden. One question. What isnt it purple?

IMO weakest variations -could be wrong

Hat trick
Unstoppable
Spectral - potentially
Mystic
Lasher
High tech
Hat trick is pretty good. Straight hat trap has really fast recovery and he got a damage buff. Kung lao can now get 35% with one bar off of 112124 and 38% off of b321. In the corner he can get guaranteed pressure. After you knock an opponent down in the corner you can set up a trap and wait until the wakeup window is gone and go for 112124 into ex hat return and on block that guarantees you another 11212. You could also do 112124 normal hat return and make a read to go for the pressure, because you can challenge them with ex spin afterwards like in buzzsaw. Ex straight hat is a really good way to get in and on hit can get you 30-35%, so in a lot of matchups they need to respect it.

He now also has a safe overhead b22 into hat trap(only punished by cassie) and in the corner this gets him 35% meterless.

Imo non variation kung lao plus a few decent tools could never be a bottom 5 variation.
