Also just because a character/variation is underutilized that doesn't make him/it balanced.
I don't disagree (check that tier list thread, people think he's worse than reptile, shinnok, mileena and even in some cases kitana...) but they had absolutely no reason to nerf that character in any way whatsoever which is why I bring up tournament results and it couldn't have been online outcry him and goro are probably the least used characters in the game.

I feel that Sub GM was over-nerfed, as was Liu Kang Dragon's Fire.

The succeeded in toning down top tiers, but have yet failed to remove all the OS's. The have so far neglected a lot of variations that are in desperate need of help, and seemingly only listen to the loudest cry baby that echoes through TYM.

Time will tell, but so far unsure.
 
Again nerfing regular shocker to -14 would make it completely useless and would be the worst possible way to get rid of raidens safe overhead. It would also nerf his other variations even more and there already bad. I'm going to give NRS the benefit of the doubt and say they already know this

I think the games balance is pretty decent so far with how they patched it. But I will give my opinion on what I think should be changed or would be happy if it was changed. These are opinions, and as we all know opinions are like assholes we all have them and here is mine lol

Erron Black:

21122 - Make this string positive enough on block that command grab cannot connect at any point in this string.
Command Grab - Rebuffed to +10 on Hit.
I think @HeroesNZ found that errons command grab isnt even actually -2 on hit right now, its still around +9

I like the approach NRS has taken thus far. They're making changes, but (generally) nothing HUGE and sweeping. Make a few small changes, sit back, see how things play out for awhile, make a few more tweaks, give it a few weeks, etc. Could more be done? Of course. But overall I'm pleased.

In case you're unaware, she's currently +16 after a perfectly executed F112 Bug cancel on block BUT everyone has the option to take the last hit of the string which only deals about 4% damage and let's them get out of the situation entirely since the 2 portion of F112 sends you full screen. The best thing D'Vorah can do to beat this option is by ending the string in ovi which would give her a total of 10% damage on a read that the opponent will let go of block, but punished if the read is wrong. She could also stagger F11 but then she no longer has guaranteed frame traps and she can be poked out of, armored through, back dashed, etc etc.
Yep. Was happening to me a lot at ECT when I told people during casuals, and a lot of people already knew.

they did a good job, still i'd still like to see the following changes

General Adjustments:
-remove ALL Option Selects
-make the block breaker more viable, 2 bars of stamina is too much
-fix the frame data in the move list

Scorpion:
-Cancels should cost 35-50% of stamina

Erron Black:
-nerf the 21122 string
-ex sand grenade should be -6

Takeda:
-make f12 2+4 a true blockstring
-d1 6f
-faster startup for ex fist flurry

Jax:
-d1 should be -3 on block

Kung Lao:
-nerf the jump in 2, the range is way too good

Kung Jin
-nerf his NJP

Well being smacked by a fan on block from full screen is clearly more op than blocking repeated strings from hellfire, Erron Black, Dvorah, Kung lao, Tanya etc but a single hitting mid fan? Truly ridiculous. But I truly think she needs it due to her low pokes having very little range to force the opponent to block much of anything.

So Scorpion being nerfed overly severely means that the rebalance patch which toned down Superman, revived the game/community and saved the second EVO somehow didn't happen?
Literally what? You claimed NRS always does a decent job patching. I gave you an example where that's not the case. Everything else you posted is irrelevant.

Anyway I voted unsure for the following reasons:

I think that the approach they are taking currently is definitely a good one, and they are trying to give more "fixes" than they are nerfs and buffs... But we gotta wait a few months and see what they do before we can accurately assess what type of job they did, if this method worked better than previous efforts etc...

So unsure for me.

I'd take anything Pako says in stream chats with a grain of salt my brother. He can be quite the trolling type.

The "simply get hit by this to avoid that" argument is usually a sign that something is overpowered. LOL.

f+1,1,2 xx WGC creates a 50/50 mix up scenario in which neither f+2 nor b+1 can be backdashed or armored through. Given D'Vorah's versatility, she is not in need of such a powerful option.

f+1,1 is an advancing mid attack that is 0 block, but unlike f+1,1,2 xx WGC, it does not lead to uninterruptible 50/50 mix ups, so apparently it must be mediocre
It may be broken, but once people start eating the last hit more often the string wont be nearly as strong as it is now. Eating the last hit is only like 4 or 5% like Bee said though, and to get a couple more % is a big risk once the mind games start. They can go ahead and nerf it tbh, I don't really care about that one, since on the other hand if people do accidentally block it they're going to have to guess a completely safe 50/50 that can do 30-40%.

They have done a great job so far.

Although I have to say the Dvorah nerfs were pretty laughable. I also dont ever agree with the notion that f112 is suddenly useless because you can take the 2 hit, since all it takes is one good EX wasp to catch them and full combo leading to the corner. Makes them not want to do that as often lol. F11 is a great tool as it is neutral anyway and if they are sitting there waiting to let go of block on the 2 they tend to not punish F11 WGC as consistently.
That doesn't work because if they're planning to take the last hit, they can just mash any normal and it'll hit you out of it into a full combo.

Online input delay. Please. It becomes nigh impossible sometimes when the game jumps between little delay to lots then none. It just ends up being a very frustrating experience, especially when you want to try and practice and get better. I'm trying to learn Raiden's TG LRC and I'll get it offline around 60% of the time, but online its like pressing buttons through tar. I know people have more horror stories than this, but it has become a problem when you wish to improve via online.

I'm a kitana main and that truly is the last thing i want, i want her footsies to be better in order to play keep out more effectively. I don't want to take huge unnessary risks such as doing booty/assassin strike/throat slice. I just want better normals and possible throat slice to be an overhead with a hard knockdown

The 2,1,4 xx FBC pressure may still be advantageous on block. I have no problem with the advantage. But why does the advantage have to be so tremendous that you can neither backdash nor interrupt the next 2,1,4 xx FBC loop until the Scorpion player runs out of stamina meter, which, by the way, recharges automatically?

Was Liu Kang's EX bicycle kick not normalized severely based on the argument that f+1 could neither be backdashed nor interrupted afterwards? Yet Scorpion can do the same damn trap without wasting any super meter.


This difference is called a double standard and is the opposite of trying to create a balanced fighting game. I am very convinced that Hellfire Scorpion would remain a top tier character if you could at least backdash the next 2,1,4 xx FBC sequence.
Bolded 1: If you look around, you'll notice that the majority of these most advantageous un-interruptable run cancel strings (for characters that have them) come from the end of strings that don't keep you standing, nor can be hitconfirmed. Coincidence? Unlikely.

Bolded 2: Not if you run cancel it. If you get caught pussyfooting around after your stamina is done, that's an awful long time that you cannot break, and thus not use your meter period, not fun to deal with against someone like Tempest Kung Lao who can turn 10% into 35% if you blink.

The only way for them to balance the game is for us (the NRS community) to show off not only how to deal with "broken tactics" but to also level up lesser played characters so everything is taken into perspective before buffs or nerfs are dished out.

This said, I am still unsure of of balance as I am still a skeptic of the over all meta thus far. I suppose that's why Tanya appeals to me so much. She doesn't play the same game which is fun.

They gave unnecessary nerfs to a high mid tier Sub Zero to stop people whinging and have more planned now that this character is only mid tier, while they buffed a low mid tier Kenshi to top 5 to stop people whinging...

Then when they touch up Raiden he is changed so minimally that he still keeps his #1 position hands down, and Kitana is changed so poorly that she still keeps her very bottom position.



I think they are doing a pretty shitty job, but it's what I've come to expect from NRS
