She looked like that in Deception because the 3D MK games ran on Renderware, the same engine used for the GTA3-era games, and was never designed to put heavy emphasis on character models. Any features you have interpreted as "typical African-American" are a fluke. Look, I think that it is great that you see Tanya as black and that you can indentify with it and it makes you feel good. But you have to accept that not everyone sees her that way and has the exact same opinion and perception as you do. Some people see her as mixed, some see her as Indian, some as Middle eastern, some as Brazilian, some see her as nothing but a dark skinned Edenian. An Indian seeing her as Indian and identifying with that doesnt take anything away from you and you have no right to say that they are wrong for thinking it. She is a type of ambiguous character with no set labels that allows for that kind of broad appeal. It just comes down to someones personal perceptions and thats what makes characters like her so cool.
You can't see it the way you want when it's clear Tanya's black. She's not ambiguous in MK4 and MKD. I didn't disrespect you, or anyone for that matter, no need to get upset over my comments.
Well now you said that, i do remember about being few dark skin people in fighting games. I understand people want at least a bit more of dark skin characters in fighting games now that you said it like it. Looking back, there is hardly much dark skin fighters in games, and you are right, we could use some more.
I actually agree with @AcCooper20 statement. I never saw her black, just a Dark skinned Edenian race. I'm sure other saw her Native American, and other seen her Brazalian. Honestly I don't think anyone is wrong. It's just how you see her. There is no right or wrong. I just never seen her as African American so I didn't understand what the big issue was to make her black.
Native American don't look like Tanya in MK4 with big lips and nose. A Brazalian person that looks like Tanya is black or mixed with black. it's nothing ambiguous about it. Only thing that's ambiguous is why some don't want Tanya to be black.
The issue is not about her being black. She could have been any of the things you listed, but it doesn't change the fact that lightening her skin was the issue.
