Testers and Early Tournaments

He's literally playing characters at the tournament he's never played before because he's only had the game for 3 days. Also you were there for the testing week and Tom (at least claims he did) had the game for 2 months, which is different especially in that case. Tom and Reo could surely outplay him, but there is no doubt there is an unfair advantage. IMO they should've just gone to commentate and/or do exhibitions if they want to show off good play.

Also you're saying you know the ins and outs of the game without owning it from your experience there, but this was literally less time than you had to play it. People don't know this stuff yet. People should have the same opportunity to learn the game as the others before they're playing together for hundreds of dollars.
revolvr please you don't have to break it down for me i understand it. i never said it wasn't unfair. But more than half of you here had the game a few days before street date even. I spoke of being outplayed, not that the advantage isn't there.

Would it have been possible for you to convince the T.O. that testers should be banned? So even if you didn't know you would be safe from being unfairly beaten by testers aha
For future reference, I guess. The point of the thread was to ask if it was ok. And it seems that in your eyes, $700 isn't enough to justify a banning.

WOAH wait a minute here. The guy who has been to one local in his entire life where he went 0-2 just called me out because I only go to like 4 majors a year? Really huh?
I go to my monthlies all the time as well. Stop acting like you know what I do because I play offline frequently with people in my scene. And why do you always reply to everything that I say on here? Do you like me or something?

Yeah I did, but I actually know he had to wait until Tuesday. And you can't base it on "well some of them might've gotten the game early" anyway

I got started on a small project for Prima which was cancelled, that was my extent outside of testing. I didnt have much more time than the other testers. Also, these were local tournaments, if testers cant enter locals then you might as well ban them from fun.
Then why did you tell us that you've been playing for months?

And it's different. If you entered GBS, The Break, Florida's New Local, etc. it wouldn't matter because there aren't pot bonuses. The money is the issue here. While it isn't a lot, it's still enough to warrant a concern.

It's not about the prestige level of the tournament as much as it's about playing for money. There was apparently a pot bonus, and from what I heard 3rd literally got twice the amount I got for 3rd at ECT. That's a good amount of cash to be playing for.

I see. How the hell does tom and reo always get the games 6 months before anyone? Isn't one of the nrs guys a member here? Can you explain
The first time I played the game was the end of Feb, played it just as long as the other testers. Then got tarted on a project for Prima that they thought was cancelled, but picked back up, but got cancelled again. Thats the full extent of my playing. Not even close to 6 months.

I played 14 days total at NRS (5 days then came back for 9 days) as did other testers, and about 11 days working on an MKX guide project that ended up getting cancelled. Then, 5 days at ESL where I also got a copy of the game so thats 3 more days pre-launch. If you add it up its a few days more than a month of total play time. BUT.. the version of the game is not the same as when I tested. I am fourth coming with how much I had on the game because I know it will eventually come out somehow and the "he probably had it for 6 months" stuff will happen. People always look at me as someone who has been playing for god knows how long but am just lying about the time that I actually had on the game, which is why I am honest about the time period. I also wasn't playing to level up as a tester or a writer. I didnt even do much as a writer as the project was constantly in an "on again....off again" state until finally cancelled.

I dont see how the total time I had is an issue. I was watching ppl playing the game on streams for almost 2 weeks before launch, but no one ever complains about these guys. Cat told me they had it for at least a week before launch but no one has any issues there either. I didnt come to Dallas for these tournaments, I came to visit for my Birthday and to wrap up a sponsorship deal. I went because these were locals. Also, we didnt make $700 combined. I spent more on my plane ticket then I actually won.

We leveled up by playing long hours, including a 24 hour MKX stream.

This thread is pointless because the grace period you are talking about is almost over now. You should've posted it two weeks ago or when the game was announced since people cried about it in injustice too.

ayy but like i mopped up chef 25-6 2 days after the game came out online and stuff, myabe you should have spent ur tourney entry fee on tissues for all ur issues instead, babby, or even a ladder so u could climb to my level

git gud

I don't ever post here but this is a funny post, Pnut.

You want to ban people who played the game early? People who played a month early? A week early? Days? Where does it stop?

KH Cat admitted me to himself that he and a few other had been playing the game for a week or two before release. There's no proof or anyone saying that you're part of that few - but its a safe assumption since you all traveled together and play together.

Should we ban Cat or you for having a small advantage over everyone else?

Like I said though, it's not a problem if you went, but I feel like you guys should've gone to commentate or do exhibitions rather than enter. There was more money on the line than some injustice majors, whether or not it's covering flight money you spent. And it is an issue even if it is just a month total when we're talking about 3 days after release. If you've only had a fighting game for 3 days, and pay money to enter a tournament to show off your early skills and potentially place, and there's 2 people who tested the game there (at least one who had even more time to play) who have more exp+knowledge than anyone else was able to have, wouldn't you feel kind of cheated when they win?

There were also ppl there who had the game at least 1 week early, maybe more. Thats close to 3 weeks on the game. Sounds fair and balanced to me..

So I dnt know how many of u know this, but in guilty gear xrd the Japanese had the game like a year early essentially and they are still allowed to enter US majors despite that lol, we talking about a few weeks and a month at most......
But I am not going to go back and forth, u can either agree to let them play or not.
