33 years in and changing an instinctive way I've been doing things because of newly bad design of a product is not a good idea

How about they stop changing what isn't broken
Honestly it feels a lot better on PS2 and PS3 DS's as well. It's just better and easier on pretty much any pad you can name. Really happy I started doing it that way before PS4 was ever released -- and I won't be looking back.

Adivce to everyone using a DS4: Pick an arcade Stick.

If you're not a stick kind of player, pick another controller that is not DS4

Maybe it's time for a stick? Just bought the new TE2 for XBone and I really see the difference. If you're like me and prefer a stiffer, American style stick, Focus Attack.com has stiffer springs for the JLF that make it feel more like an IL/ Happ competition. If pad HAS to be your thing, the Hori FC would be my choice. Good luck, man, and I feel your pain...I was happy as hell using my modded MK9 stick until my dog ran into my cable, destroying my cheaply made Titan One convertor (which is not really an option for PS4 users)

I had the exact same problem, then adjusted my playstyle to accommodate the changes.

Honestly, the PS4 controller itself is amazing. But for this game specifically... idk. There is obviously an issue.

I've been enjoying the PS4 pad so far, at first I did have some issues which I thought could be the pad. But I think there are just different properties for timings in this game. I used a PS4 pad for MK9 and Injustice on PC to test it and I wasn't having any trouble at all and now after a few dozen MKX hours the drops are far less frequent.

I think it's a case of adjusting to the subtle diffrences in the game rather than the pad. I was going apeshit when I first got the game because I couldn't do jump kick teleport with Scorpion lol but after time I just realised the timing has changed.

That said controllers are all about personal preference, if I had the option of sticking with my PS2 pad I would but I think the PS4 one is fine.

I literally dread doing back forward specials. Cost me many games. I can pull off some complicated combos but when it comes to back forward stuff I get shit on. Cost me many games. Most of the time I get a jump or kick :(
Exactly what happens to me, I constantly am in fear when I perform Bf moves

Also to all these people saying learn to tap the button: THAT ISNT AS FAST.

I had this problem in IGAU moreso than MKX, but it does happen every now and then.

@Pig Of The Hut , you could try the MKX PDP Fight Pad. The d-pad was pretty awesome....but there were other issues. There's no select button making it impossible to reset positionment in practice mode. I was sad because I liked the pad, but that one little issue made me return it.

If you get it and dont like it, just go pick it up and unbox is carefully so that you can return it looking like it was never opened. Worked for me.

My local scene runs MKX on PS4. I have XB1 and since you fuck up inputs with extended practice, I'm basically fucked in tournaments I guess.

@Fractured_Shadow @REDRUM
What worries me about the Hori pad is 6 button layout

I really want the ps 2 layout

A controller that doesn't let me reset practice mode sounds like utter butt pit

I've spent equal amounts of time in MKX with the PS4 pad, Xbone pad, and a TE2 stick.

I find the Xbone pad to be the most accurate by far. You would think that stick would prevail. Nope. I've been a stick player since the beginning, but for this game it just doesn't feel right at all.

Something I got for a friend in anticipation of MKX. He's enjoying it. If the issue here is sliding as opposed to individual button presses however, idk if your fortune will change much. Sometimes you've just gotta let the instincts go and learn anew, or risk going the way of the dinosaur
