No, but in MK9 her keep away game was about 3x as strong as it is here. You're clearly missing the point if you think myself and others are concerned simply because she "doesn't have any mixups."
So I take it you've learned all the ins and outs of this character, mastered every variation, had hours of matchup experience against every other character, and attended some secret underground major tourneys between the top players in the past few days to arrive at this conclusion?

I'm not saying you're wrong but c'mon bro, give it some time. I get what you're saying about her weaknesses but right now there's way too many different opinions running around to write off any character. REO and Brady certainly aren't part of this group of "others" you mentioned.

I'd say he's basing it off of the fact that a very large portion of the Kitana community is saying the same thing he is...

kitana I feel is super underrated. she has an insane amount of juggles and basically has a free run move with her db3. if you are in an arena where you can hop around like the cove you really have an edge. her db3ex also has armor so people who count on zoning to win will have problems. you just can't overthink it. really...that's how it is for me with any character. i've had some really amazing matches with people and I think half of it is cuz they are excited to actually have a decent challenge playing as someone who isn't sub zero or scorp over and over. plus Kitana has some insane corner juggles. I can modestly say that I'm impressed with some of the kombos i've pulled off with her. characters with teleport moves though can be a problem. this is where the db3 helps a lot.

No one is saying she lacks in the combo department. It's just getting people INTO those combo situations is too much of a pain in the ass. The payoff is there if you do manage to do it, but why run the risk of getting blown up when you can just sit back and throw fans while building meter?

Her chip damage is good, yes, but they can just duck her fans. Where's the chip damage at now?
Game is still on an early stage mate, she didnt have any low starter or overhead starters in mk9 and she was 8th in the tier list... she has really great punishes, I havent played assassin that much tho, only Royal storm.. and HEY how do you unlock her ?????? skin the one at the end of story mode?

Something to do with living towers if I recall. Maybe gold on daily tower? I can't remember though, I got it a few days ago.

She has no overhead/low mixups at all, dude. She's negative on everything other than b14, b12 (I believe that's it) and maybe one other string.

Her only overhead is b2 and that causes a knockdown, so she gets nothing from it. Knock her on her ass and it's GGs. She HAS to commit to using meter if she wants to get up safely, but all of her armored wakeups are highly punishable on block.

Kitana is primarily a zoner in every sense of the word. The gameplan is to pretty much sit back and chuck fans.

Be wary if you get opened up and the person knows Kitana's optimal combos. She gets plenty of meterless damage in both Royal Storm and Assassin. I don't know fuck all about Mourning because I have yet to touch it.

Oh, also, she has great potential unbreakable damage.
Ok so block low and stay blocking low, got it. Any important frame data? Reach on some of her important normals/strings? What does she punish with? How does she open you up?

f33(4) can be armored thru

f2(2)u4 can be armored thru...this one hurts me the most

Jump in 1 or 2 canceled into the air hop (db+2) into another jump punch is great for getting your opponent off balance with a quick mid hitting launcher for a cheap combo. If they respect that option after the hop, you can mix it up with either a string (1,1,1 or b1,1,2 etc.) or a throw.

On the ground, I've found that F1,1,2 F2,2,u4, b1,2,4 or just b1,2 or b1,4(Since both are 0 on block) are great options for setting the tone.

Armored options (Especially throat slice since it's 10F startup) are very nice in all variations.

In spite of her options, I feel she takes a pretty good time commitment to learn at a high level. Same could be said for all though.

I have mixed feelings about f22u4. I love the range and potential mixups after the u4, but characters like Mileena laugh at that string.

I think everyone will laugh at that string as soon as they realize they can armor through it.

Not to mention the range on F2 is deceivingly short. Cassies b1, Dvorahs f1, and quans something overhead have the range I want for it.

you arent setting ANY type of tone with f22u4. the second hit can be armored, and you arent gonna do f2 by itself unless you're asking to get punished. The string sucks against someone who has armor, which is the entire cast.

f112 can be armored too, but at least f11 is safe. f1 by itself its asking to be punished.



EDIT: Disregard. Hotfix closed the gap on the strings.

The gap in f+2,2,u+4 and f+1,1,2 is gone. There was a short period of time last night where some hotfix stuff was disabled before the new patch came out. If you have the new Klassic Sub-Zero skin your game is now up to date.
 
Newbie here. Coming from a Marvel background and trying to catch up with the rest of the Hitbox crew with MKX.

Something I've been trying to get a proof of concept in. Since she lacks an overhead opener, I've been trying to mess with instant air float into NJP. But, there's some weird properties with it.

Hopefully this doesn't sound weird, but you can negate some of the recovery frames of instant air float by pressing NJP early--but, at the cost of it hitting mid for some reason. But, if you let the recovery frames of IAF rock, NJP comes out overhead as normal.

This might make sense to the vets, as when you do an NJP on the way up (like with Kung Jin) you will hit mid. But, the weird part is the recovery frames. I'm not sure if I'm indeed canceling it early, or just somehow, when I press NJP on the first frame possible, the game still recognizes Kitana as "on the way up", and so, treats NJP as a mid.

If this was already known/discovered, I apologize. I did a search beforehand. But, it seems interesting to me at least.

Bit coming in clutch with that info.

So I went back to mournful and I'm loving shadow kick is create a mid screen . since its a spec high. You have to neutral duck it and while they are doing that you can f22. Its not great but its something

and what is the most reliable wakeup option during opponent pressure when you have meter? (i've been using EX db1 but wondering if there is anything better)
