Smash 4= At EVO 2015

Customs =Enabled at EVO 2015

Community: Really? Oh boy, there's already some pretty cheap customs. I hope we don't find any ridiculous set ups between now and then since they aren't banned.

Custom Community: STFU customs make the game fun. I'm tired of seeing Diddy steamroll everyone in tournaments. Diddy won every single tourney, won Apex, and killed my father. Bring customs, I want to see something other than Diddy.

Community: But Rosalina's customs make her-

Custom Community: ALLOW CUSTOMS!

Community: Have you seen what Villager can do with cust-

Custom Community: ALLOW CUSTOMS!

Community:...........

Three months later:

Custom Community:.............maybe we shouldn't allow-

Mr. Wizard: Too late.

Hm. After watching the video once more I realize even if you play Smash brothers casually you probably might not even know what the fuck is going on.

......who am I to ruin that by explaining?

Can some put that in "I-don't-play-smash" please?
I don't even know what customs are
wait what is this all about
Let's just put it his way: Custom moves being enabled gives the option of using custom special moves from a stock of unlockable, character specific variations of their special moves. They are not allowed in some game modes or online. But not EVO though. "Lets see how they play out." Custom moves are fun, exciting to watch, and actually make certain unviable characters viable. But the sheer amount of variables that make certain combinations borderline broken and unbeatable, and the fact that the way to unlock them (thus making complete analysis of them all beforehand nigh impossible, hence so many broken set ups being found) is convoluted means they can't easily be countered and even if they could, you're spending less time prepping for freaking EVO and more time trying to figure out broken strategies of your own. If you play your character and attempt to win via skill in some situations, your odds of winning are as non existent as two people being subject to the '2Pac' strategy:

Smush = party game.

That is all you have to know.
Competitive Smash arguably takes more dedication and skill than any current fighter.

Competitive melee is so hardcore if you haven't already been playing for decades, don't bother trying.

You think you know how powerful zoning is? Play Dabuz' Rosalina and attempt to even touch him. He lost only to Diddy at Apex. A character that has been in news articles because of his infamy. True story.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
Villager's pocket multiplies the damage of the attack pocketed. Mew2king found this awhile back by showing how a bowling ball does like 21% but when you pocket it and use it then it did 41% which is crazy. However you'd have to pocket an opponent's ball to do it was the initial reaction and folks thought "only good for ditto matches of villager vs villager and extremely situational so who gives a shit."

Then folks thought...what about doubles?

What you are seeing is a Lucario and Villager setup where someone playing Lucario sets up nasty as shit projectiles for Villager to catch and buff then fire at folks. Since Lucario has always had a projectile thing where his shots get stronger as he charges them and since his custom one is only slightly weaker than normal aura sphere but has a vacuum effect things got crazy. Basically in Sm4sh you gain more knockback power as you take damage as well. This was incorporated into the whole strategy of setting up a multiplier on Villager's pocket. I'm not certain knockback is multiplied by pocket but I believe this is more or less what we are seeing...the end game of people abusing pocket's damage increase by incorporating it with a partner in doubles using customs.

Did I get all that right or did I goof up somewhere?

Learning to build a house takes more dedication then Smash and fighting games. Therefore building a house is a fighting game.

Smash is undoubtedly a party game. No question about it. But when played competitively, it's as much a game worthy of entering EVO as any other.

You got it. Correction though: Villager's pocket's damage increase wasn't 'discovered', the game outright tells you and even explicates the damage modifier. Also Villager's pocket was always seen as effective and was actually called cheap by many pros. Aside from projectile pocketing, the pocket/re pocket mechanic shuts down Diddy's banana game since he can't pull out another.
