THE Top 5 & THE Bottom 5

Top 5

  1. Reptile: This character has just about anything you can ask for. Sporting probably the fastest overhead in the game, along with 2 lows, he is a strong 50/50 character. He has 2 great armored moves, one that is a 6f full screen low, while the other one is a launcher. He has a 7f launcher that goes more than half screen. He has the ability to slow down time, the ability to turn invisible while absorbing one hit and takes no damage (still takes hitstun), or can do damage to you without even touching you. Such great tools for such great character.
  2. Full Auto Jacqui: Her zoning is top notch. Her machine gun, tho can be ducked, is a nuisance to deal with. Its a very spammable move. Its hard to jump over it due to how long it lasts. She can even throw rockets into the air to make the opponent scared to jump or throw a rocket on the ground to catch people ducking. MB ground rockets can be held, which can set up nasty mind games with the overhead and such.
  3. Kenjutsu Kenshi: another variation that has it all. Lows and Overheads, armored launchers, zoning, vortex, FULL SCREEN GRAB, etc. Many people say this is his best variation, and they could be right based on obvious reasons.
  4. Blood God Kotal Kahn: This guy has a combo that does over 100%. How is that not top 5 material? Factor in his footsies and setups and we got a character who can kill you with just one touch.
  5. Assassin Kitana: The rushdown queen. Its hard to try and counterpoke her due to her 7f parry that can be held forever. Assassin strike leads into the longest timed HKD in the game, giving her the options to go for her "setups" (no idea what these setups are). Also, after a blistering quick 73f move, she gains a buff to her damage and she can unleash 4bar 70%+ combos (because she's the only character in the game who magically has an invisible 4th bar). Add in the duckable zoning, and we have the perfect hybrid character

Bottom 5
  1. Royal Storm Kitana: Unlike her vastly superior counterpart Assassin Kitana, Royal Storm has problems. Even tho she has the same exact duckable fans as Assassin, her fans in this variation are indeed duckable. Just walk and duck and you'll be fine. Her 10-12f armored reversals are too slow. Her 8-10f normals/strings are too slow. Her 12f d2, which has a hitbox that covers nearly her entire body, isn't that good. There a far better zoners like FA jacqui, Heavy weapons Jax, A-List Johnny Cage, etc. Also, she doesn't have a 50/50.
  2. Tempest Lao: In a game full of 50/50s, he doesn't have any, so he's at a big disadvantage. He's also a pressure character, which is bad because you can just easily block break since it only cost 2 bars of meter and a full stamina bar. Punishable armored launcher. Gaps in strings. Slow teleport. Slow projectile. He's just bad.
  3. Bone Shaper Shinnok: He does have a 50/50, but the overhead is punishable, thus rendering it useless. Hell sparks can easily be avoided by jumping and it's like -20ish on block, meaning the whole cast can punish. The unblockable is too slow and doesn't mean anything when mixing it up with the gun. Speaking of gun, the gun is only +8 on hit, so he only gets the low, making his mixup game bad. His nearly full screen armored launcher is punishable, making it a bad option.
  4. Tanya: Her teleport isn't invincible anymore, nor does it have armor anymore, so it's completely worthless. On top of that, she is now punishable once she lands from an empty teleport. It's one of the worst moves in the game. She still has damage, still has insane pressure with Kobu Jutsu, still has teleport cancels, still has good buttons, but since the teleport was nerfed beyond belief, the character is bad.
  5. Dragon Fire Liu Kang: His block infinite isn't even a true infinite since it can be avoided with armor or a backdash by one character. You can also just take the last hit to avoid being caught in it, and somehow believe the Kang player will just start zoning with his jumpable fireballs. He has a 50/50, but since the overhead doesn't do anything but knockdown, his 50/50 is abysmal. Also, since he's a pressure character, he's prey to the very popular block break.

  • There were other characters mentioned, but due to how lazy I am, I didn't feel like doing a top 10. I will, however, say "top" or "bottom" to any character that is suggested, along with short reasoning.
