It was the first week in quite some time that all of Southern Virginia's best were at That Game Store on the same day to compete. Fresh off of TFC the spirits of the competitors was at an all time high. Of the SOVA reps there Mr Aquaman and Blackula placed 13th and Zappa with a 23rd making it out of pools. Gimpy, Sidthehaze, and YAMS staying behind looked to prove they will not be soon forgotten. This week sets the 9th installment of the Ranbat series brought to us by That Game Store. Going into week 9 just a few points separates the top 3, with a lot of money on the line, the competitors were giving it there all. Other headlines going in were will the Dark Juan collect any new souls? Would we see Indy vs Sid (so much trash talk)? Would EX Gimpy's newly refined Tanya start a new regime of clouded darkness over the land? Will Blackula do a cancel with HQT? Well all of these were answered this week.
I will keep it short and simple this week, to answer the questions. The Dark Juan indeed collected a soul that has alluded him since the injustice days, Awkward Sloth. Always hoding it over The Dark Juans head sloth would mimic and sass him. But this night ladies and gentemen, sloth, became, "one of us" as the crowd slow chanted after the defeat. Just picture the crowd from the mummy saying "Imhotep" and its the same thing. Sid the haze and Indecisive did indeed meet in bracket and it did not disappoint. So much was on the line as these two hot headed individuals immediatly upon indy's arrival start a rivalry that would be a most interesting of tales. Many stories of lack of skill and setplay later and Sidthehaze defeats Indy 2-1 in a very close last rounder. I lost a dollar on the sidebet. EX Gimpy Armor Breaker Supreme looks incredibly good 2-0ing Mr Aquaman free in winners and losing a close 3-1 vortex against YAMS in winners finals. Aquaman would get his revenge in losers finals 3-0. (still figuring out how I did that, watching vods). Blackula did extremely well as usual without a SINGLE cancel.
This week had major implications on the ranbat as mr aquaman pulls to a good lead over gimp going into the final week. YAMS reclaims his spot amongst the best in the area with a clutch win after a reset in GF. Still unhusked by the Dark Juan - Mr Aquaman, and Indecisive. Still no wins in the ranbat - Sid....
