Breakthrough - Cryomancer New Sub-Zero "T.O.D." (49-94% reset!)

Well guys, with the new patch out I think we can all agree that Sub-Zero's Cryomancer variation got some pretty notable changes. With the giant increase in SZ's damage thanks to the patch, Cryomancer is now a huge threat in the corner, and honestly, midscreen as well but that needs no introduction. At the risk of being punished based on your combo starter, and at the cost of "a full stick of butter" you can potentially end a round.


Here is how it works, now that SZ can 2n1 special cancel his Cold Blooded string, you can now leave the opponent standing while at massive hit advantage using the F12 string. Now I know I used the b12 string which grants an extra 1% in this reset but by using F12 after a jump in once your opponent is frozen, you are at +29 hit advantage thanks to the new patch. This means your opponent is forced to guess a 50/50 that is easily hit confirmed; they can not jump, forward or backdash, and they especially can't armor through. Here are some inputs as well as the damage some of the resets do depending on how much bar you are willing to spend. Don't forget after every MB'd Ice Ball you can always go for the reset AGAIN!

Note: For the low, you will have to quickly input B33 or they will be out of range. If you doubt your execution you can make this easier on yourself by jumping over the opponent while they are frozen to keep them closer.

Anyway not to burst your bubble, but it was always known that B12 leaves you at +19, and we knew this would happen if we could cancel off the restand (@STRYKIE), but the problem is that you're mostly going to spend 2 bars for this.

If you want to spend only one bar it has to be off a b2 starter, but that would sacrifice too much damage wouldn't it? I didn't see how much the new combo does (B2 F42Throw xx EX Ice Ball JI2 B12).

Yes were at plus 19, now we are plus 29 meaning there is no escape. Thanks to the new patch making F12 able to combo into Ice Ball, there is so much hit advantage all the flaws of pre-patch are gone. HOLD DAT!

Braindead I said B12 gives 1% more damage but F12 is the better option for the hit advantage, please read next time. ;)
My bad for not reading everything, but B12 already guarantees both low and overhead options, why go for F12? Especially since B12 does more damage.

B12 guarantees the low, there is a small gap where some characters like Kano can backdash, and there is a gap where some characters like Kung Lao or even Subby himself can armor through it if you choose to go for the overhead option in B2. So with this in mind, B12 would be only against particular matchups.

I've simply pasted your combos into the new Sub-Zero combo thread, I gave you credit of course, this is a big find and I'm glad this latest patch has helped get the Subby forums up and running again.

Christ man we better not get worse-----people are bound to be calling us worse than BS Shinnok :(

B12 guarantees the low, there is a small gap where some characters like Kano can backdash, and there is a gap where some characters like Kung Lao or even Subby himself can armor through it if you choose to go for the overhead option in B2. So with this in mind, B12 would be only against particular matchups.
Hmm B12 leaves you are +19 and B2 starts in 17 frames, there shouldn't be a gap. Maybe a distance related thing.

Appreciate you giving the credit man and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they nerfed it in the future but if they did it would still be enough hit advantage from b12. Which is honestly not to bad as it works in certain matchups.

God forbid you use two bars and your opponent guesses right and you eat a full combo with no meter to break lol.

I don't even want to talk about the fact that people can react to Sub-Zero's overhead/low mixup.
Technically this tech is 1 bar right, I mean the first bar is just used to extend the original combo but the important thing here is the IceBall F12 ender right

Practically every character with a 50/50 has this option as long as they don't have some weird combo style that can't be ended in grab.
