MONTREAL MAYHEM BI-WEEKLY #4 - Ontario Invades, but..... MTL Jer wins!!!!
Hey Everyone! Welcome to another installment of our Montreal Mayhem series!! This weekend had a turnout of 14 entrants with 1 very special guest. Coming from Brockville Ontario, we welcomed @Evil Canadian. He was last seen at our very first opening event where he placed 5th. This week he was not using Mileena who he had brought to the first event. No, he would bring his very own Kotal Kahn, who he was spotted using at Toryuken. Would Montreal be able to defend from this barbarian force? Let's find out!

This week's write up will only include the top 5.

Well to answer the question above about our friendly invader, he was put into the losers bracket in Round 2 of Winners by Ecodus. Round 3 of Winners started off with a familiar bout that we have seen many a time before. Ecodus Vs Zaf. Ecodus hot off a win over Evil Canadian's Kotal was looking to keep the momentum going into his next Matches. Ermac Vs Jacqui was the match that we would be seeing yet again. With the pace of the match being set very high, Zaf was able to clutch out this set yet again 3-1.

On the other side of Winners we had Jer Vs Snafoo. Snafoo still deciding to play stunt double Johnny Cage although a lot have moved over to Fisticuffs. Jer sticking with the ever so cute, Spec ops Cassie Cage. Snafoo does take a game off of Jer but it was not enough to push him into winner's final as Jer closes out this set with a score of 3-1.

Now over to the loser's bracket, we have Snafoo going up against Evil Canadian. Snafoo is a seasoned fighting game player but did he have the experience against Kotal Kahn to push himself ahead in the bracket? Looks like Evil Canadian was the one to clutch this one out. The constant Kotal pressure looked to be too much for Snafoo's Old man cage. Evil Canadian takes the set 3-0.

The other loser's bracket match consisted of Ecodus and Alexlol. Alexlol aka Hayate still sticking with Takeda would have his work cut out for him against the Jacqui of Ecodus. He would constantly need to work his way in against Jacqui who was keeping him at bay. When Alex was finally in the optimal range he waned to be in, Ecodus made sure not to give up any of the ground for free. After 3 solid games, Ecodus takes this one 3-0.

The next loser bracket match consisted of a rematch from a winners bracket match earlier into the tournament. Ecodus vs Evil Canadian. This would be the last chance that Canadian would get to complete a successful invasion. He would need to reverse the match outcome of their previous meeting. Evil Canadian does go up the first game, keeping his pressure on jacqui and not giving her the time or space to set up her game. Ecodus does not take the first loss lightly and plots his methods to keep himself in the game. Keeping the dream alive, Ecodus does take the next game. He also takes this set 3-1 and puts himself into losers final awaiting either zaf or Jer.

Winners Finals was Jer and Zaf once again. Ermac Vs Cassie cage. This set ended up being a quick one, with a score of 3-0 for Jer. Cassie pressure seemed too much for Zaf and Jer took this one faster then it started.

Losers Finals was another match we have seen for some time Zaf Vs Ecodus again!!! This one started off a lot different then usual. Ecodus goes up 2-0. With one more round being all that he needs to clutch out the win and face off against Jer, would Ecodus finally beat his Master? Ermac and Zaf take the round making Ecodus need to work even more. After the 3rd game was tied up a round a piece, Zaf takes the game and still shows some signs of life in him. Set now 2-1, all Ecodus needs is one more game! Zaf takes the next game again, putting the set at a nailing biting 2-2. Will this be a comeback or a big win for Ecodus? Although Ecodus started off strong, he ultimately loses the set 3-2. Looks like another Vanilla grand finals.

Grand finals, Zaf vs Jer. Zaf goes up game 1. Looking to reset the bracket, will the momentum continue into the next game? There was rumor he was going to take this 6 games straight.....That was a false rumor however as Jer goes up 2 game straight. Zaf takes the next game and ties the series up at 2-2. Will we see a bracket reset or does the night end early. With a little bit of confusion and bad Math, Jer takes the last game and ends the tourney with a 3-2 victory over Zaf in Grand finals!!!!

Congrats to Jer!!!
