If you thought the Mortal Kombat X competition was getting nuts it's about to get sick! Early this morning and as per Shoryuken.com, operators of the longest-running and biggest fighting game tournament in the world. Evolution Championship Series, has obtained a $50,000 pot bonus for Mortal Kombat X! This pot bonus comes directly from Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios and fueled by the sales of the Blue Steel Sub-Zero skin available for purchase online.

There are tournaments and there are majors... and then there's EVO. With last night's proof that the USA may no longer be the bigger dog in the NetherRealm competitive world, EVO is the ultimate tournament to prove that. We can only hope that more and more international competition makes its way to the USA to compete - not only to give their country "the belt" but to also win a very generous portion of money for their extreme skill.

Press Release Added!
Following the success of Mortal Kombat X’s “Blue Steel” Sub-Zero skin DLC, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is supporting the competitive pro fighting game scene in a big way with tournament sponsorships and prize pool contributions. With a month remaining before the July 11 ESL Mortal Kombat X Worldwide Competitive Program finals, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is doubling its commitment to the prize pool and raising it to $100,000 USD.

The Blue Steel Sub-Zero Skin is still available for purchase for $1.99 with the proceeds to be used to fund the following initiatives:
Further contribution to the ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro-League finals prize pool. The deadline for the Blue Steel Sub-Zero Skin to fund this tournament is June 29.
Establishing a Mortal Kombat X prize pool of $50,000 at EVO (July 17-19)
Funding a series of Mortal Kombat X tournaments including:
Combo Breaker (May 22-24)
MCM Comic Con - UK Invitational Tournament (May 23)
CEO (June 26-28)
Other tournament support to be confirmed later
Mortal Kombat X, the latest entry in the legendary fighting game franchise from NetherRealm Studios, is available now for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Steam on Windows PC.

If you weren't going to EVO - we suggest you rethink that now!

Wow, someone from this community is gunna win big bucks at EVO! This game is really getting great support. Between the pot bonuses at grassroots majors, ESL, and now this I am really blown away at how much money is being devoted to the tournament scene. Very cool!
