Regarding New GGPO MKX Netcode: Bold Statements from Top Players

This style of netcode has been around for quite a long time. Why is there surprise that, when NRS puts it in place, it works the way we know it does? Trying not to be a hater, but maybe I'm just jealous that I couldn't experience this when Skarlet was a reality.

Mortal Kombat X Patch Notes 6/23/15

Until they rebuild their netcode to be rollback code, you will never have smooth online play.

General/Other - Tanya Mortal Kombat X: Tanya Official Trailer

This is the first interesting looking character I've seen in MKX

    Fighting games need more randomness

Haha...the breaker system isn't based on luck. It's based on reads and reaction time. If you spam break, then yeah, it's based on luck.

    Question - Hollywood Cassie nerfs

Other game companies do that have major tournaments scheduled. KI doesn't do this, Dota 2 doesn't do this, for quick examples. So yes, they can (and should) be expected to release their patches at opportune times. You think that the onus is on the tournament hosts to magically ensure that no...

Discussion Patches overwhelmingly help NRS games not hurt them

That's part of my point about NRS not understanding how to properly nerf. They nerf a top tier and they remain top tier - where are the buffs to the characters that aren't top? Where were any of the buffs to the B-list and below in MK9? Or Injustice? Not all games leave characters who...

Discussion Patches overwhelmingly help NRS games not hurt them

Yes glitches, mistakes, etc. are in everything everywhere. Here's my point: I label NRS as a producer of a casual fighting game because of the way they approach balancing their games. Balance changes historically have been to completely nerf characters into the ground to be unusable in a...

Discussion Patches overwhelmingly help NRS games not hurt them

In MK9, we had all the frame data, and it was wrong. NRS still has the frame data wrong. You'd think they could handle that by now. I like NRS, and I like MKX, but that isn't going to stop me from disapproving of their stance towards their game as they could take it far more seriously than...

Discussion Patches overwhelmingly help NRS games not hurt them

They've set the bar pretty low, though. Yes in programming there will be glitches that, due to their fixing, bring up other oddities. However, accepting that and saying "It's cool, MKX will always have bugs, that's fine." is sending the message to NRS (most importantly) and the rest of the...

Discussion Patches overwhelmingly help NRS games not hurt them

Try out Killer Instinct. Watch their development model, how they handle patches and balance, and lack of pseudo-block-infinites (Liu Kang) and corner infinites (Kitana/Mournful). From what I've seen, Iron Galaxy has taken over as best fighting game developer in all aspects. But to be fair...

Discussion Patches overwhelmingly help NRS games not hurt them

It's my honest opinion. The type of person who comes to this site is not the market NRS is trying to reach. The majority of players who play MKX will never check patch notes unless forced and even then will skip to only the character they play.

Discussion Patches overwhelmingly help NRS games not hurt them

NRS has proven time and again they are unable to correctly balance fighting games. Which is fine, whatever - they are a casual fighting game company that likes to pretend they understand the competitive scene. And there's nothing wrong with that. However, the people on this site and in our...

    Guide Max Damage Meterless Combos

The dash cancel is #1 in terms of importance in nailing this combo - I would do the dash, hit block immediately to stop myself then hit U3 asap (if I recall correctly, it's been awhile). A close second in terms of importance is the timing on the standing 2 in the second "2,DF3,B2" string - it's...

    Guide Max Damage Meterless Combos

You're most likely waiting too long between the first downslash and the dash cancel into U3 - you have to be extremely on point. The standing 2 in the first 2,DF3,B2 should be hitting the opponent when they're at/near head level of Skarlet. Landing the two 2,DF3,B2's in this combo is the most...

    Final Character Select Screen Confirmed

I agree. On a side note, I'm not very hype for MKX for whatever reason. It's not just one single thing, but gamemk brings up good points that resonate with me. The roster also doesn't excite me very much. /shrug we'll see I guess. I'll certainly be watching a lot of streams and videos...

The make-or-break of MKX for me is still unanswered

Nah, I'm serious. I have Killer Instinct which is essentially the perfect fighting game (read: mind games being valued way higher than technical execution) with incredible online play. Edit: To get ahead of derailers, KI also looks awesome and has a fluid, fast-paced feel. There's more to it...
