Borderlands was an interesting but really flawed game.
The sequel seems to fix a lot of the problems of the first game, but I still feel the game isn't living up to its true potential, and catering too much to the console crowd.

Still, it will probably be a very enjoyable game.

ive been a fan of borderlands ever since release, and ive heard a fair few people claim it had lots of problems, but they never actually list them.

in your opinion, what made the game flawed? and how is being catered to console players a bad thing?

the only things id fix would be the lvl balance,in other games you might get 1 hit by a pretty powerful enemy but you'll do damage,in borderlands not only does the HP increase but if you try to go up against something 7+ lvls ahead of you you'll only hit 1s.

i was playing borderlands with a friend a week ago,we started new chars and completed the island of dr ned,so much awesomeness.

how's BL2?from what i saw zero and maya are OP as fuck while the soldier class got some much needed upgrades (lol at some useless skills of roland's,not only did they require you to steer away from useful perks but they were pretty much useless, like the turret requiring 3+ points to be any good that could be used somewhere else.

my lvl 59 troland has 300+ clip mags,i love never running outa firepower.

Was fun at i46 but it wasn't enough play time to properly judge the game. I hope its really difficult to get through, borderlands felt a little too easy later on in the game.

Catering to console players isn't a terrible thing, but if you come from a PC gaming background you tend to want a bit more depth in your RPG's. This isn't a problem unique to borderlands though, as more and more WRPG's have been going to consoles they have been stripped of depth and mechanics to make them more console friendly.

As for flaws for BL, all IMO of course.

No player trading
No storage
A lot of weapons were very samey
The environment's were also samey and kinda bland
Vehicles controlled poorly. Tried to emulate halo controls but didn't pull it off very well.

The above problems have been fixed for BL2
The ones below have not, or too early to tell.

The skill trees are very shallow
Each character only has one active skill
Most missions were very generic MMO fetch quest, lacked a boss battles and good set pieces
Game had no challenge, second wind mechanic is too abusable.
Game just lacked balance, from difficulty, to stats, to the enemies, it was all over the place.
It was very difficult to play with your friends if you were not the exact same level.

This is all off the top of my head, I played it when it first came out and haven't touched it since.
Despite its flaws though, it was one of the better Co-op shooters.

good write up, but personally i do disagree with most of those but thats just where opinion comes into it, i can say form my experiences with the game so far that they most certainly have improved on the points you listed below, im trying not to be biased, mainly due to how excited i am for 2 i dont want it to cloud my judgement haha

No player trading?

I just drop my shit on the floor and let the guy pick it up. That did the job just fine.

But from someone who's played borderlands 2, trust me when I say all of the above has been fixed. Apart from the vehicle driving, we didnt have anything to drive in the demo we played so i cant say anything about it.

I made a Boom costume for one of the days of London Comicon. It wasn't perfect, and I forgot to bring my leg straps with me lmao.
