The punish was hard AF to do consistently and you essentially had to bait it out, plus if you messed up she got a combo punish and you got put back into the same shitty situation but with 30%ish less health.

And then there were the other shitty parts about the MU like getting outzoned, Elbow dash's mobility being hampered, her rolling under FBs, and getting outranged/outfootsied. It was a bad MU man.

Elbow dash was fine if you knew how to duck dash. Shit like that NO Reptile actually attempted, and it was quality to get around good, high projectiles like that. And it was very doable consistently. Outfootsied, maybe. But it was honestly barely.

Mileena also couldn't telekick the EX forceball, but that was more read shit. Also, you could d4 under telekick completely or dash by it.

Just picked up Reptile, holy hell I feel like my mind and fingers gotta run at 3 times the speed to pull his flash shit off haha. Currently running a super basic Nimble but I will try his other variations, all be it reluctantly.

Reptile had always and will always lose to the same characters. If it was a bad mu in 9...its still a bad mu here.

This includes mileena, who bodied reptile 3-7 free. Sorry man

For the past 4 hours I was practicing with Reptile on TWO combos (Yeah got to hit the gym soon haha!)
I get them .25% of the time. Am I the only one who SUCKS this bad with him? He's a really fun character and I REALLY want to learn him! I'm pissed though, I can't do his combos for some reason. For me at least, learning Cassie's was so much easier!
Here are the two I tried: (I play Noxious by the way)
3, 4~DD3, F412~BF2, 21, F412~BF4 and 12~DF3, NJ2, F41, F412~BF4 (I got this one 80% of the time then suddenly I cannot get it at all for the past hour)

So I clearly need help. I've never seen anyone say he's one of the most challenging combo-wise, so I'm guessing it's a me thing.
Is there a certain trick I'm missing? I know a lot about the game, and didn't think the combos would be THIS hard for me.

I know. Assuming you hardly had this much trouble with him =P. It's weird I didn't find Cassie as hard as people say, and it's completely different w/ Reptile. I mastered her RCs in what? 1-2 hours? :( I'm also pretty burned out, and need to recharge.

Joking aside, dude it's ALL practice regardless of character difficulty. This is coming from a Tremor player.

What helps for me learning a combo with a new character, is to break the combo down. You already have it written down, so only do the combo up until you get to the comma. Once you can do it up to that point, go until the next comma and keep doing those portions combined until you can get it flawlessly. Repeat for the whole combo.

Haha! Execution for me is the hardest with Reptile.
What I really notice though with him, I got decent and then practiced more, and then POOF! Back to square -1.

That's actually a great tip! I'll try that! Though for some segments it doesn't work...

Is there anyway to delete a "waste of space" thread like this? New to TYM, and still learning things around here. Some people with productive threads should get attention.

I literally started learning these combos yesterday too and they do seem a bit tricky but not too bad. The worst thing for me when learning new combos is just getting my brain to press buttons correctly, right order, right time etc. Doing each part of the combo separately does help. e.g. I do the f412~bf2 part then add the 21, f412~bf4 then work on the link with 34~dd3 into the first f412. Basically just practice the parts that give you trouble until your brain knows what its meant to do without thinking too much.

Because you don't play anyone else, probably.
What really helps with my execution is playing multiple characters. Real good players like Chef just play the whole cast. It's all about time invested.

Exactly. Thanks for the tip! When I do segment it, I try to do it in the full combo, and fuck it up, even though I get it all the time segmented. I probably just panic and smash buttons too quick.

So play other characters to help execution? I believe I already do that, if that is what you're saying :)
