MKX DLC Poll for Final Round 2016

People will have to study most of the cast anyway after the balance changes, 4 full characters won't be that much more when the whole status quo is changing... "you found this Bo'Rai Cho fart tech? Well, I found this revamped character stuff that when combined with this is totally broken and nobody knew" unless the tournament is played on PC to keep the current version of the game or something.

I'll be attending as well, and I say no because people will get hit with my Alien infinite egg loops.

I want them allowed because I'm going to main smoke and I'll be at FR. Selfish reason but that's my vote.

Surprised to see more "yes" votes than "no." Do we really want another debacle with *insert DLC character here* like at the previous CEO?

I mean, I'm just as hype as the next guy about playing the cyborgs (Smoke and Cyber Sub-Zero, to be exact), but is three weeks truly enough?

As a compromise, why not stream special exhibitions with selected players using the new characters while forbidding them from the tournament itself? That way you wouldn't be sacrificing the KP2 hype and still ensure even ground among the competition.

Cue the posts shooting down this idea, I guess. Classic TYM.

If the dlc characters are outlawed, should the accompanying patch be outlawed as well?

I agree with this

In MK9 there were soft bans put on all MK9 DLC characters for around 3 months for each.

Skarlet was out two months before evo
Kenshi was out couple weeks before evo

In Injustice there were lighter bans on DLC characters for all upcoming majors and evo.

ZOD was out a month before yet not allowed but Lobo and batgirl were allowed

In MKX there's been some weird happening here.

Predator, Tanya, tremor, jason have all been available and acceptable despite any lack of research by the players if he/she are broke. I don't think NRS has any intention of us using dlc characters in tournaments on a day 1 release. So I wanna ask all the players who actually attend tournaments who might be affected by this.

So should the KP2 brand new dlc be allowed to compete day 1 or soft ban until further research

Definitely. Characters need to be flushed out and all broken aspects patched before being allowed to compete.

FR should be fine maybe since it's about over a month after (I'm not sure if that's long enough), WB they won't be out yet

If they are coming out on March 1st then WB is fine.

I have quite a few tournies coming up in March myself, and when we first learned about KP2's release date, I was pretty apprehensive.

But since then, we have also learned that pretty much every character in the game is going to receive significant alterations, along with game mechanics themselves.

Can we reliably say that we'll be on top on everything by mid-March anyway? Like, hands up, who even currently knows the Spectral Ermac matchup? A variation that is drastically more likely to see play post-KP2 now that it will be more accessible, but none of it's actual toolset will have changed since September.

I can't say I've competed for 5 figure sums myself, but I think it's worth letting them rock anyway.

Just my 2 penniesworth.

Wow sorry, tired. Forgot it was actually THAT close to when FR is. Yeah I think they should probably be banned then, nothing will be even known by that point. Hell, a lot of people STILL don't know about a lot of things in the game

I say 2 weeks after a character is released you unban them

we'll have kp2 with all the dlc available at viennality, which is on the 26th of march.
unless some game breaking stuff gets discovered beforehand, no chars will be banned

having them available day 1 is def. way too soon

I feel like there's two different ways to look at this. One way is to view it from a viewer standpoint where it would be awesome watching the newest characters fight with some of the best players playing them in tournament. Another way to look at it is from the competitive standpoint where the characters are new and many people do not know everything that the character has or what to do against it which can cause players who normally would do well in tournament... lose.

I'm more on the viewer standpoint if anything to be honest. The first tournament that I'm aware of where the characters will be out publicly is Final Round, which is 3 weeks after the new characters release. I feel that this is actually enough time for players to learn the match ups and know what the characters are capable of. Of course I might be naive to this since I've never had to think about this in previous games when new characters come out since this is my first competitive game but this is just my opinion as of right now.

Tournament players would then have to change their training regiment to figuring out the new characters and playing as them and against them as much as they can.

But still, I think it would just be so awesome to see so many good players playing the new characters in tournament. It would be so hype!

I say six weeks. Then the discussion is had whether or not to allow them at all. I honestly think if we ban them after that they would be balanced a lot faster than not, and it would avoid CEO 2015 happening again.
