Hey guys! Quan just came out on the Beta and i couldnt be more excited! Heres a video i made explaining and showing off some of the changes, and Ill list them below!


  • HARD TO BLOCKABLES STILL EXIST
  • Ex rune is -1, but im told can be delayed to get the previous plus frames at the risk of putting a gap between the two hits
  • Cannot call bat/spells during regular trance
  • CAN call bat and spells after EX trance
  • Skydop spedup SIGNIFICANTLY(i got hit out of it still a few times but it now serves its purpose as a counter to frame traps and a wakeup
Only messed around mainly with summoner, I noticed zero changes in Warlock, and im told a few new recovery changes in sorcerer. Will update thread when i know more. Thoughts?

EDIT: Purple spell now builds meter on block as well as hit in sorcerer

EDIT: Sorcerer changes seem to be:

Black Magic (meter drain) spell - starts up in 38 frames (down from 53)

Final Hex (Chip) spell - starts up in 31 frames (down from 47)

Dark Curse (Armour) Spell - Starts up in 62 frames (down from 45)

EDIT: Appears to be damage nerf after ex rune? Full screen combo that did 29% before now does 22%? Needs more testing though to be sure

Sorcerer changes seem to be:

Black Magic (meter drain) spell - starts up in 38 frames (down from 53)

Final Hex (Chip) spell - starts up in 31 frames (down from 47)

Dark Curse (Armour) Spell - Starts up in 62 frames (down from 45)

Cannot Trance into spell for free anymore.

Sorcerer no longer has rune trap due to the trance and rune nerf, you now have to think of one cycle of MB rune as a combo extension and thats it. You still get free chip if you mb trance.

You can still hard knockdown into free armour, but now you have to be super fast with your f2122 to continue the juggle and get the airborne 141.

Sorcerer will now be about the armour above all, only use the hex if you know the remaining health will kill, but as it only allows for one rep, your margain for killing off hex is greatly decreased.

A lot of nerfs. I guess it's good his damage hasnt been touched? I also heard that if you delay mb rune hes +7. I wonder, is it better this way or would you guys have wanted the bat as a mid? -1 rune definitely hurts but being able to delay is ok i guess

Don't know how I feel about these. I think making rune -1 is ehhh. Would've been happy with it just being less + (maybe +6 so he gets a d1 but nothing else?) but benign minus?

Trance change seems good for dealing with summoner damage and unblockables (limiting his access without taking anything away). I think extended cool down would've been better as this trance change seems to hurt sorcerer heaps as well (not that I think sorcerer wasn't exceptional before, just that a rune nerf would be enough without removing spells mid trance).

Not directly but with the trance change you can't get the bat out mid combo without spending the bar on ex trance. So his damage is indirectly nerfed by needing bar to do the same combo's he does now. Well that's how I see it anyway.

I thought I saw in Sorcerer (watching Reo and Sonicfox) that the metredrain spell takes metre on block now

So then you can't JIP after trance? That's an indirect 1-2% damage nerf to all Warlock combos (even if the time is just too tight, some Warlock combos required a small step back before jumping forward). No big deal I guess, but still would've liked to see something for him (he doesn't benefit as much from the teledrop buff as he already has a good armor wakeup).

Is the 62 on armor spell correct? (got confused with the "down from" part) if it is then it's a huge nerf.

I think someone mentioned an alternate to the chip combos using EX Skull (and requiring short runs each time) that still delivered decent damage.

Looks like the armor spell got sped up. I don't mind this but it really didn't need to be sped up. It helps against armor breaking wakeups at least.

Exactly this Warlock loses a bit of damage and the great positioning he got. You can't move forward/back to jump in or jump over anymore trance is too short. Improved skydrop doesn't really help Warlock at all.

You could maintain your positioning switching combos by doing b324, njp, run under, 141 maybe?

I haven't tried it myself, but it might work.

I know Lao was a bit, same with Cassie. im waiting on Tanya. But overall im very pleased and happy with these quan changes
I just remember you saying it all depends on if the other top tiers get nerfed as well so just curious.

So far as a Warlock main im content with the changes. I can handle a slight damage nerf and i dont use rune that much (i know i should lol).
 
Yeah shame they nerfed Warlock x.x. New skydrop don't help him at all. I still think he will be a good situational counterpick against *some* zoners.
