what is considered a scrub?

What you consider a "scrub"? Is it win records, thier ability to attack or defend, thier skill vs yours, is it crying over the headsets?? I just like to know the general public thoughts. We are all mixed skill levels so I like to have a discussion.

My definition when somebody clearly is higher skilled then I, they win, then talk trash over the headsets. I never understood the trash talk part of a higher skilled player. Shouldn't you offer advice instead? This happen to me about 4 or 5 times.

I might not have the best online record( old netcode issues), but I really enjoy this game and wacthing streams of other players fight. Also I enjoy being competitive and playing higher skilled guys (respectful ones). I might get my butt beat, but i enjoy it learning.

They are different ways of defining it. I typically just think of it as someone that sucks at the game. The type of people that you describe that yell into the headset like that and whatnot: I just call them douchebags, idiots, dipshits or fuckin assholes :DOGE

Scrub = Free win.

I would also say that it can be a mix of personality traits and skill level. Example being someone who is clearly bad, yet doesn't realize it or overrates their own skill level, basically your typical one-and-run online warrior.

I wouldn't call someone who is aware of their skill level and actively learning and attempting to improve their skills in a particular game a scrub.

Usually a scrub to me is someone who plays the game with no intent of wanting to get better...given everybody doesnt have time to invest in games and all that so there is exceptions....but anybody that says "spamming" or "your not good your doing the same combo" is a Super Saiyan God SCRUB..aint no way around it lol

When they do something hella onliney. For me at least. If i get a knock down that leaves me +30 and they jump on wake up. Like...omg. Lol. If i did a grab and they njp id be annoyed but thats a legit counter. Stuff like that. At least for me, is mostly netcode. Which isnt really the other players fault but you can tell when ppl abuse it. Like im -15 lets armor cause its online. Yolo. Hella scrubby

Bad players can have excellent mentalities, but poor execution for example. But that doesn't mean they're a 'scrub'.

There were plenty of 'scrub' Kabals in mk9 with good execution. Doesn't mean they knew what they were doing, or why it worked/didn't work.

I watched a old video about the word "scrub" a long time ago and apparently it originated from someone that just mashes buttons. Imagine someone playing on a arcade cabinet and pressing all the buttons to get out of a situation...he is scrubbing the stick/pad=scrub.

However, to me a scrub is someone that uses online tactics, which I lose to a lot. I try to be modest when I play in all situations.

This. I will play all day with anyone except players who refuse to acknowledge when they are beat and refuse to self examine their loss. Losing is an excellent resource and "scrubs" never tap into that valuable asset.
