Question - Sun God Man, sun god and the new cmd grab mechanics

That's why reads exist. You have to make a read and hope it pays off. The opposing player has to do the same thing. If they think you're gonna try and jump out of b1~db2, then they can just do a b1 and attempt to punish your jump attempt or they can go with b14~Sunstone or whatever they choose.

However, at the same time, if you make the read that they think you're gonna jump and intend to punish you for it, don't jump and go from there.
Do u realize that b12 there is no gap so armor is not even an option. Ur stuck mashing armor and he gets a full safe combo. And further. Will he be able to do back 12 and command grab on hit or block.

Again anyone justifying this change is outing themselves as some of the biggest scrubs in the community.

Since when did 10 years of being mediocre (at best) at fighting games, foolish opinions, zealotry against anything that isn't two special moves full screen give you any sense of what a good fighting game has, Dave?

I gotta make sure im reading this right. You guys are actually saying that Kotal can now connect the grab on hit while standing? And you all think thats okay?
Taking the hit of b1 to avoid getting grabbed is a straight up bootleg tactic when the kotal can just finish the string, get more corner carry, and get more damage. Not only that, you can't even low profile the grab so that will just make Sun God broken

Unless I've been missing it the entire time, b12 doesn't tick on block.

I'm going to assume you mean b14.

I don't think it's gonna stay to be quite honest. After all this is still a beta.

I like Kotal where he's at, I don't think he needs anything else at all.

If I was given the choice to have this change remain in the actual game, but he had to get a nerf (or nerfs) in order for it to be implemented versus this not making it into the actual game and him receiving no adjustments at all, I'd go with the latter.

Kotal is an all around good character.

I think his command grab only links off of combo, so he may be able to tick throw on certain pokes on block, but I don't think it will on hit because it doesn't link the same way cancelling an actual string into a special would.

You can combo from crouch attacks with ANY move in MKX, it'll strictly be standing strings on grounded opponents.

A lot of people seem to be acting as if there isn't a hard counter to tick throws or something. You can just jump over them, unless that's been changed or something and I haven't heard about it.

This definitely shouldn't be a serious problem for competent players now that we have a netcode that doesn't fuck your reaction times.
You seem to have no understanding of the potential mix ups whatsoever.

What difference do reaction times make? You cannot react to b+1 xx command grab / b+1,2,2 / b+1, b+1?

Jumping and backdashing results in a combo and leads to the same situation.

Ignorant fools need to stop calling this new mechanic "fine".

If zoning were this strong, you scrubs would lose your minds.

Lots of pre-emptive over-reacting going on...

Lets let it get to the first tourney. If there's a dozen or so Sun Gods - or even just one running rampantly through everyone - then the dynamic gets tweaked.

Let it play out. Its almost always much different from what the over-reacters thought early on. Let it at least show itself to be a real problem before we go "fixing" it.

A lot of people are just making a mountain out of a molehill. How is this much different to how he was before? The beta change has stopped sungod's ability to tick throw on block from a b1, but now he has the ability to grab on both hit and block from a b14 which is unsafe on block so it means that to get out of it you can njp, crossup punch, backdash and use armor.

Also given that sungod kotal is not a real 50/50 character in the traditional unreactable overhead low sense, then how is this so different to predicting any mixup? The fact that it's unsafe as fuck after a grab attempt gives you the opportunity to full combo punish it which is more that you can say about some characters.

They said on last weak stream that everything in the Beta is not remaining in the game...its just in there for fun. None of the characters are balanced in the BETA. I wouldn't get excited until the release of the new net code and final patch with KP2 and XL.

Most of us don't have the beta like you, lucky sod! Anyway, b14 is -17 on block so should be pretty easy to armor it. You're probably reacting too late cause you're shitting yourself too much or something

No what I mean is back 1,4 into command grab like a tick throw except it connects on hit anthem sped up back 1,4 and back1,2,2 and when I try to armor out I just end up either getting the last hit off back 1,4 or it doesn't come out and I get tick throwed, people just spam the shit outta that on the beta because either way it will connect and it's basically a free 25%

You just jump out on reaction. It's really easy. Especially considering you can jump out of all of kotals special moves after b14. Ex sunstone whiffs of you jump out too. Same with air grab. Nothing is guaranteed.
