Question - Pumped Up Why does pumped up get no love?

Why not? You can f3 right after or f21. Get hit by a gg 4 times, that's a round
Because 1. it always creates the same situation 2. You can but you also can get low profiled and a blocked f3 in pumped up = death.
Seems like you wan't to make me change my mind about PU. I played this variation when I started using Jax. Now Im doing much better with Wrestler so I don't see the point in "arguing" ;)

you can also jump in after the restand. Maybe you're doing better cause you don't have that much patience with pu then?

Or maybe I'm doing better because the Wrestler suits my playstyle and because he is the better variation overall. From what I know I'm a pretty patient player. What is your point again?

Well that's what I'm saying, pu just doesn't work out for you but as better overall I'm not sure about that. It's hard to say what's better and what's not

Considering that Pumped Up is just as strong in mix-ups and leaves opponents on their feet at the end of each combo, short or long, I'm just as surprised that it's under-represented.

@YOMI_SLAYER
Its cause being only +3 on hit is not the best. And his Combo damage is about to be nerfed since he gets his damage from double OH dash punch which is where the damage scaling comes from. BUT i have EX ground pound combos actually.

With or without jump in.
Without a jump in.

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
Not in the corner atm. If you do max damage combos with wrestler im prettyr sure he wins. Meterless.
Pumped up is still 1% more bro

Maybe it varies depending on the starter. I know for a fact that 123 OHDPx2 D1 11x2 124 GG/Quad does more damage in pumped up.
Corner:

OH starter meterless, Both get 47%
OH starter 1 bar: Pumped up gets 55% , Wrestler gets 54%
Low starter meterless Both get 46%

Low starter 1 bar, Wrestler gets 53%, not sure what PU can get here

So Pumped Up does more or equal damage on everything that I know of, possibly the low too possibly not, and he's also significantly easier on execution for all of them

I was talking meterless.
Also Again with the new patch pumped up is going to get hurt since the OH dash punch has the scaling.

Assuming that the Jax we see in the Beta is final, the new patch will definitely hurt him, which is why I've been putting an assload of time into Wrestler in the Beta (the transition is rough, man. I have an easier time playing new characters than I do new variations). Wrestler has OP potential with the new command grab mechanics.

That said, Pumped Up has some good shit going for it, which is why I made it my main for so long. The restands are extremely underrated. Sure, nothing is guaranteed at +3, but Jax has a wide enough array of options that he can pretty much always keep the opponent guessing what he is going to do, which means those options connect more often than not if he plays his cards right. F3, F21, Dash Punch, jump in, Ground Pound, instant air Ground Pound, jump back ground pound... The list goes on.

It being -9 is a bitch for his mindgames and against certain characters, but it is manageable.

His better zoning is a thing, although as players have become more accustomed to the game, it gets harder and harder to zone people out. Still, it's always worth a few extra percent, which can be the difference in a round. The low profiling ability of Ground Pound can throw off the gameplans of many zoning characters.

Honestly, I think I should have picked up Wrestler a little sooner, as PU and Wrestler compliment each other quite well. For some matchups, PU is too unsafe and can really use the safe -4 gotcha ender. For others, Jax needs to capitalize on his ability to get in by dealing more damage, and retain more advantage after combo enders.

Ive been labbing Carl Weathers for the past few days to use as a possible secondary. I cant see a use for PU over the other variations. Unsafe gotcha grab that has less hit adv and no knockdown. Its also slower on startup by 2 frames. Ill stick to wrestler since the dmg output isnt enough to justify what you lose imo

I mostly use pu when ppl like Kitana try to zone me and they just eat my igp shit even something like a jump is a 50 50 am I going just do a naked jump and I going gp instead other then that I don't mess with pu I stick with wrestler

Honestly I like the defensive utility of this variation and thats why I main Pumped Up. 22% (24% if you are lucky) armored anti air compared to only 13% in other variations was huge for me. The ability to have an effective zoning game with OTGs thrown in there. OTGs are still good after energy waves on airborne opponents and uppercuts since it wont scale too much. And he can still get +40% meterless in the corner into a restand.

I love what Pumped Up has to offer. I only switch to Wrestler for MUs where I need to get in and stay in like Quan Chi for example.
