Nah if you do a speed test you can check your Up, Down, and Ping. So say if my Ping is 15 and yours is 25, our combined Ping will be 40 and it will play godlike. But if I have a Ping of 15 and yours is 135, then it will show a combined 150 and most likely play at a far far less quality.
Are you sure that's correct? @Eldriken

That ping being displayed is your ping to the server that you're testing your connection on.

The ping between you and someone else will vary depending on how well your connection communicates with one another.

But my ping is usually the same when I play people. Or around the "range" of 15-25. It doesn't go up to 100 because I'm playing a different person.

Someone else think that would be a good move from nrs to release the big patch in the middle of february to "stop" a bit the arrival of sfv, and then in march release kp2 and a smaller patch?
I think doing so will cost too much. From what I understand, there are fees charged by PSN and XBLive for each patch. Whilst it seems better from a consumer stand point as we're getting better support, from a business stand point, putting out a single patch and offsetting it against DLC and XL sales (which have their own costs) is more profitable.

'Ping' is the amount of time it takes between the moment a packet leaves your console and the moment it receives a reply from the other one. It definitely does go up if you're playing a different person, because distance does have a large effect on it

I had a hunch.
I conducted a couple of tests a month ago and the results agree with you.
I tested with a server in the same city I'm in, and it came out to 2ms.
I tested with a server in the capital in the next state over and it went up by about 11ms.
Then, I tested it with a server in Seattle to get an approximation for what it would be like; the result came out from 75 to 80ms.

I think they fixed input shortcuts.

Also there's some camera bug in the corner where it doesn't zoom in during throws or moves like Cryo Sub's f421+3.

Then that just means you had a good connection with those people in particular. Why do you think some games on the current netcode run like dookie with certain people? Your connection (ping) with that person isn't as good as it is with others, so the ping is going to be higher.

It seems like since more people joined those people with 100+ ping connections feel like shit now. The low pings are still amazing but too many high pings.
Yeah, I'm experiencing the same issues right now. I have no ideia why.
I reaaaaaaally hope the new netcode won't turn into a pile of garbage when it's patched into the final game and available for everyone. That would suck so hard. :(

I've also noticed that a few of the people here who claimed they had such amazing Internet and low pings were full of shit, but I'm not naming names. -.-
Yep they opened the floods for the wireless bandits

Yea I get its gonna be higher if I play someone in California than here in NYC, but that's not what I mean. I'm saying that it's higher, but MY ping isn't gonna go to 150 because I'm playing someone out of state, that's just THEIR shitty connection messing up BOTH of us in a match. Isn't that what happens?

For example, I played a TYM person who was on the mic. They saw my Ping and said it said 24p before the match on the matching screen. But his Ping said 117p before the match on my screen. When the match started at the bottom of the screen it was bouncing between 135-150ish for the match. So isn't that number our combined total? My great connection and his shitty one? So wouldn't HE be responsible for the bad match?

No it won't, literally everything else will be the same. If they decide to stick with just this change and dont nerf anything else he'll still be top tier easily.
everyone should realize by now liu is not in top 10 his buttons are no where near as good as alot of characters and he doesnt have anything super dirty , but that can stay in liu forums lol

it is beta so nothing is set in stone but the 1 frame changes options still need more testing but i can see people moving to db2 finish and settling for -3 more because most times your turn will be over .

it is hard to test without practice but throws do seem easier to tech now and i think they changed something with release check or input shortcuts because prior to beta i couldnt use them with liu before but forgot to turn them off first few matches and they seemed to actually make some things easier . i am going to play around with them on on purpose next time i get on .

side note scorpion does seem most improved with the beta and all run cancel characters will profit from a bad connection on this style of net do to buttons still working right but opponents not being able to see escape windows do to the way the skip works often hiding the cancel animation completely .

try doing a speed test to a server far from you it will change your ratings that will explain it easy , for example i tested on wireless laptop one in atl got 68 ping and 1 in toronto got 11 ping . ping is send packet and wait for return so essentially between the 2 sources rating

he really doesnt have any dirt easily most upplayed character ive ever seen in a fighting game lol people that understand how to fight him expose the fuck out of him chip dmg is nice but opening people up is way nicer

This! Ping uses a relative round-trip measure. I'm not sure where this whole "I have a good connection, you have a bad connection"-thing stems from, as it's hardly the first conclusion to make. A bad connection between users can be suboptimal routing between hosts (including game servers), packet congestion and all kinds of weirdness. It can of course also be the good ole shared wireless connection acting up.

Fact: nobody on planet earth is playing dragons fire to its true potential. Peopel are getting there, and once they do you will see how wrong you are.
