In the beginning of the video, Triborg was neutral grey with blue lights. That is his variationless form.
Cyber Sub is cyan and grey. It's most definitely a special input.

It is a pretty bad name, lol. lbsh, no one is going to say..'i play triborg', they're going to say..'i play sektor/cyrax/smoke.' NRS got the creative minds with the brutalites..fatalities...xrays... but for some reason when it came to deciding the name for the Bot's, they drew a blank.

It's a fourth variation, without a doubt.

If it were a "no variation," you'd see no text above the character's name during the fight and he wouldn't be colored blue ala Cyber Sub-Zero.

I'll be surprised if I am wrong on this.

I don't think it's variationless. We saw the pause screen and all of CSZ's specials had a little icon next to them. That's variation-specific, which points to it being a new variation. I'm not a programmer, but it seems to me that it would be easier to add it a fourth variation than allow players to choose variationless characters.

Another thing to consider is that since the game now has 33 characters, the total number of variations is 99. CSZ makes it a nice even 100.

It could be the input for a no variation, but in game it is effectively a fourth variation. They said that Cyrax, Smoke, and Sektor share NO specials across Tri-Borg is a whole. So this Sub-Zero being added in will be a fully functional variant. Hope he doesn't suck this time.

I kind of wish they just added four new character slots for Sektor, Cyrax, Smoke, and Cyber Sub, while leaving each one without variations, but only because the name "Tri-borg" is so lame.

he is the no variation option. He has a ton of specific special moves ( i dont remember what they were called but a new one where he can summon up to three little balls that hover behind his head)
