This is basically where it's at, and it would be a massive buff to characters with fast really long distance advancings for whiff punishing. Basically, Cassie, Reptile, Predator, Tanya,

Kotal would be on this list but his backdash is trash I don't think it would be useable even doubled.

Master of Souls and Jin might be on this list too which could be a small positive, but their space control into combo is much slower so wouldn't be as good and would only catch the longer strings. Wouldn't offset that the ones who benefit the most are already mostly top 5 or top 10.

I say no, but i think it is a good idea in general but to be implemented now would need to come with fixes to help rebalance the already titled mets that will be tipped further by this change
Explain yourself why kotaks backdash is bad. I find it to be hella good.

whoops his backdash is sick , i got confused with Kung Jin my bad. And honestly his isn't THAT bad either

yeah add Kotal to list of characters who would become insane with this option

Quran already has that pretty much his backdash is awesome as is

It's he average backdash characters that will benefit the most from this (Tanya), especially the ones wih fast advancings long distance for whiff punishing (Tanya's F2) and especially the ones with a shitload of meter building to use this generously (Tanya's pressure)

Just sayin'

And then there are stamina Hungry characters.

Congratulations, I just wasted a bar to not be able to move.

This wasn't well thought out IMO.

Maybe, just maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe, you can just do a regular backdash instead? Why are people acting like backdashes will cost a bar of meter every time? This is an addition, not a change to the existing backdash....

You said MB backdash, what does MB means?

Back dash already cost a bar of stamina, if by MB you mean an extra bar of stamina plus additional meter, it would cost two stamina bars at the cost of meter to get a good back dash.

Lets say it works, and then what? You won't get your punishes for characters who needs to constantly run to build up their combos, such as Cassie, Jacqui, Lao etc, you'll get nothing. And in many cases you would use your back dash, they if read you will go for it, and then you're nearly penalized for a longer period of time than a miss used back dash.

Going to all this trouble to get MB back dashes, might as well just buff the regular ones, either they're faster, or they stay the way they are at the cost of no Stamina.

Can't just change core mechanics this late into the game when the entire game has been balanced around them being a certain way

This change doesn't do the same thing for every character, and it's unnecessary so I think we should leave it untouched for now man

I do like the concept of it however

I believe Just Guard should be added to backdashes.

You can block during a backdash, but only on the frame you are about to be hit.

A tiny bit of meter can be awarded for this, as well stamina replenish.

I've been asking for this since being a tester back in February, so lets hope they use the idea for their next game.
