Best Grappler in MKX?

I always have 3 characters I cycle between. My main, a secondary to cover bad match-ups and a grappler for fun. I just love how grapplers are so different to play and playing one often helps me find enjoyment out of the game even when I'm salty.

In injustice I didn't have a problem picking one because there were so many great options. Shazam hit hard but took risk, grundy could kill in one touch but was harder technically and could be zoned out, and of course there was Bane an armour machine that was so fucking hype to play/watch.

In mkx however I'm struggling to find one that suits me. Overall grapplers appear much worse in this game, perhaps because opening someone up on block doesn't mean as much when pressure characters can punish blocking much better while still staying safer?

Either way I'm curious, who are the better grapplers of mkx? Currently thinking sun god may be my best choice...

Ferra/Torr is worth consideration, probably the strongest grab in the game. Of course Erron Black has the best tick throw options and overall could be considered the best, but not really just because he has strong grabs.

I agree, but not sure about the other characters' throw properties, the Sungodchoke seems really good.
Yeah, you can't analyze a character's command grabs in a vacuum. They have to be analyzed in the context of the normals they are often associated with. Sungods command grabs, when analyzed in the context of sungods normals that often lead to his command grabs, are the best imo

Anyway, to answer your question, if you're looking for someone who legit covers bases that your other characters don't and you want good setups from your command grabs, Wrestler Jax will probably serve you well.

Sun God Kotal also has a good command grab meta, he just doesn't bring much else to the table.

Relentless Jason is the most enjoyable by far

Poopbutt.
Sun God's one of the only grapplers that has advantages that outweigh the disadvantages of the archetype in MKX. His raw damage is incredible (half life for a bar + level 3) and he has access to level 3 whenever he wants (converting it to meter/health whenever he wants as well). When this already great command grab setup is added to a character with a light speed run, a jump attack that out prioritizes 99% of the anti-airs in the game, and footsies second to none-- you have an extremely well rounded grappler. Sure, he has bad matchups but what grappler doesn't?

ferra/torr lackey has the best grab in the game by far,the hitbox is crazy,and he also has a great command grab with also great hitbox.combine those with his godlike d1 and u can have some very enjoyable macthes.
erron has the best mix up game tho when it comes to tick throws.
Relentless Jason is the most enjoyable by far

Lackeys cmd grab is alright, but it has no use midscreen imo. Why would I risk a tick/grab and throw someone exactly where I dont want them to be for only 14% and no advantage

1st of all the command grabs are better to use in the corner where your d1,your regular grab and your command grab outrange most of the cast.other than that with lackey u can d1 command grab,d1 soryuken or ex soryuken for full combo if your opponent tries to move,or d1 to regular throw(just check the range of his regular throw its amazing,simply unbelievable,for me the best regular grab in the game by far).with lackey u have many options with grabs,and this thread was about grapplers and i really think lackey is the best in the game,at least the most enjoyable for me.nonetheless his regular grab is the best in the game and he has a great command grab so i trully believe he is the best grappler and i never said that he is a top tier char or anything,just a very enjoyable grappler.

edit: lackey can mix command grabs with regular grabs from extreme range and thats something that no1 else has.

All too easy...
Sun God is definitely best overall. Lackey has most range on grab but he can only tick throw off d1 and d3. Kotal has all those tick throws plus B1 and B14. The thing that hands down makes kotal best though is the fact that his grab leaves the opponent right next to him, hkd, with enough advantage to continue pressure. Even at level 3 when he throws them farther away kotals run speed and fast long reaching buttons allow him to still stay on top of them. Lackey throws you full screen and is only plus 8 so I have to spend all 8 frames just trying to catch back up to them with my slow ass run. Also Kotal has anti airs without spending meter for armor which feels way more authentic grappler than FT who has to spend meter to stop people from jumping all day, after that the best anti air we have is a low poke because NRS logic. Really wish Lackey had like Grundys anti air throw. No combo, just hkd with advantage
