Your 3 favorite MK characters of all time?

RM slacked

Shinnok trash from Canada.
1.UMK3 Kabal - When I was a kid I thought he was the coolest character ever and when I learned the nomad dash in the arcade I was so excited.

2.Reiko - My 3d era favorite character, looked super cool and I thought it was hilarious that he was trying to become Shao Kahn.

3.MK 9 Sub Zero - My main from MK 9 who I enjoyed playing so much (besides the kabal mu) I played this character up until MK X.

Baraka
Jax
Do you have favorite iterations of these?

Personally, I loved MK9 Baraka a lot, but I know my brother still says MK2 is the definitive Baraka.

I actually find MKX Jax to be the most fun and interesting version of the character ever, though I'm sure others may disagree with me.

HA! Same here about Reiko. And I agree that MK9 Sub Zero was a great version of the character despite his low tierness. I actually think that, overall, he was more fun to play in MK9 than any of his MKX variations. I also really love him in MK1, strange as that may sound.

REO

Undead
1.) Noob Saibot. King of all things dark and master of darkness. He's also my favorite color which is black. Noob Saibot will always be in my arsenal of number one fun characters to play casually regardless of how bad he may be in the game tier list wise.

2.) Sareena. Favorite female character in the MK series and the closest equivalent to a female "Noob Saibot". She's incredibly dark and has insane amounts of depth and potential to her character regarding her story. Her powers are also cool.

3.) Pretty much a tie with way too many characters. I have a soft spot for all the male and female ninjas. I'm a fan of both C(K)hameleons. Love Cyber Sub-Zero for how close to the Predator he resembles. Kabal, Havik, etc. etc. Basically insert almost the entire cast in this segment because there's very few (if barely any) MK characters I don't like.

Blade4693

VIVIVI
Narrowing it down to 3 is way too hard since there are many characters I really like.

Scorpion, Mileena, Kabal, SubZ, Reptile, Baraka, Ermac, Smoke, Sindel, Shang, Havik Noob could all go onto the list, and that's not even everybody , so I cant narrow it to just 3 lol there is just no way

Pretty cool thread. In MKX D'Vorah and Takeda are probably my favorite designs, but it's like the only fighting game I've ever played where I didn't have a clear cut "favorite" character.

All time favorites however-

MK2 Kung Lao

The reason I play MK. I remember as a kid having played SF and getting MK2. My mom took me to the mall and I played on the MK2 aracade cabinet while she bought stuff. Some older kid who knew how to play bodied me with Kung Lao. When I saw him throw the hat I was "cool" but when I saw the hat toss fatality I was like "oh shit! How'd you do that?!?" He showed me and the rest was history.

MK Trilogy Rain

When I was getting good in MK Rain was my main in Trilogy. For some reason I thought the Lightning move, Roundhouse Kick, and Waterball were the GOAT looking special ma lol. Thought he was much cooler than the Scorpion and Sub-Zero characters and I hated Ermac at the time.

Mk2-MK3 Noob-Saibot

In the history of MK, no character looked as badass as Noob Saibot. As the hidden fight in MK2 and even better when he was in MK3. The disable ball felt like some godly OP move back then. I remember everyone and their grandma was a Noob fan back then. New people I showed him like "look at this character" because he was so boss looking. The one character I wish made the MKX roster was Noob, feel like the 3 variayion system would have been godlike for him.

Honorable mention goes to MK1 Scorpion and Deception Kenshi.
Spectacular answer.

I remember when MK2 came out and we first met Kung Lao, the lore aspect of it was mindblowing awesome to me. I played him a lot in that game and it's actually probably still my favorite Kung Lao, though MK9 is a close second.

Huge props for picking MKT Rain, a character who I don't personally enjoy playing but, as a huge fan of the ninjas, I thought was super cool when he came out. MK1 Scorpion is also a great answer (as a huge MK1 SubZero fan) though I'm torn between 1 and 9 for my favorite Scorpion. I loved how he played in 9. Side note, MK2 Scorpion is probably the character I've played the overall least in that game over the past two decades.

Is the UMK3 version your favorite of all time?

Koor

Hot Gyahbage
My 3 picks would be:

1. Sheeva: Though i played her a bit back during MK3's era, it wasnt until MK9 that she really grew on me. Her moves, her attitude. She had enough to even make being bottom-tier fun. And i like where shes at in the MKX comic. Being a leader rather than a follower.

2. Sub-Zero: Have loved the guy since MK1. The things that Midway/NRS have done with him through the years has just added to his cool factor. Pun intended.

3. Tanya: Ever since MK4 she was an instant favorite of mine. From her moves, down to her wonky fatals, she was a winner in my book. Deception only made me like her more. Im usually not a fan of villains but the way she was able to deceive and manipulate those around her was pretty boss IMO.

SaSSolino

Soul Stealing Loyalist
1 - Shinnok (he'd tie with Shang, but that X-Ray bitch slap is just too fucking hype)
2 - Shang Tsung
3 - Quan Chi

I just love bad guys with huge ego I guess

Lt. Boxy Angelman

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
Oooooh...lemme think...

MKX Favorite: Tremor.
It's not even close. I think Trem may be one of the most soundly and badassly designed MK characters ever crafted, from gameplay to lore to looks and back, and maining him will go down as one of my favorite gaming endeavors of all time.
(Dat EXDD4 Brutality doe <3)

Now, for my top 3...hmmmm...

3 has to go to Kitana. She's beautiful, she's mobile, she's ultraviolent, and she's the first character I ever played when I got MKII as a wee lad. The princess will always hold a place in my heart, as will her wonderful fans.

2 goes to a character that always flies under the radar: the forgotten queen of Hat Tier, Ashrah. The oni demoness fighting to the death to redeem her soul and escape the Netherrealm. MK Deception is still my favorite MK of all time, and she was my highlight. Well, her and Chess Kombat.

And #1 is, beyond a doubt, Cyrax. I dont even need to tell the story. Has always been/will always be my dude. Forever waiting for his return...

DrFolmer

AKA Uncle Kano
Johnny Cage - Johnny is my all time favourite because of his cocky persona and his cheesy lines. I also really loved his voice acting in MK9 and even more in MKX. One of the most memorable of the cast by far.

Kano - So fucking badass. He's not loyal to any realm - he's only as loyal as his next paycheck. Big ass knives, lasers, grenades, badass accent and funny lines make Kano my to-go villain in the MK series.

I dont really have a third, must be a tie between Jade and Ermac-

GreatKungLao

LiuTana
  1. Great Kung Lao. Mortal Kombat Conquest and this character is what sparked my love for Mortal Kombat universe and franchise in general, even though the show is not canon, the character and the very first fight with Shang Tsung are canon and I admired the way he showed Mercy to the person who was just about to kill him and steal his soul, throwing a really great speech about how good people of Earth can be. That was a truly heroic action. Too bad the character was never playable in the series. Besides, I will always love that type of character who are legends in their respective universes and they are legends for been heroes (like Minato in Naruto).
  2. Liu Kang (original timeline). He is the only Great Kung Lao's descendant who surprassed his ancestor. The chosen one, perfectly good, goody two shoes boy-scout, heroic, noble, wise and all other sorts of positive traits is for eternity my most favorite type of fictional character. Especially when all of this is mixed with something supernatural, like here we have Shaolin firebender with ability to turn into actual dragon logo. To me Liu Kang is the hero of Mortal Kombat series and always will be no matter the rebooted timeline. Him been spiritual representation of Bruce Lee just adds even more love from me to this character. I really hope he will come back to saving worlds in MK11 and further, like he did before, with no killing intention and only in kind of pacifistic ways of preventing evil from domination. His gameplay though in MKX is the best one that was ever before and I really love default skin of his, the one that should be him after returning back from the dead, an older and wiser version of original timeline Liu Kang is what I want him to become in the future of MK story.
  3. Kitana. A woman of supernatural sepcies from realm of Edenia, a 10 000 years old Princess, master of razor fans and an airbender, a lost soul that was forced into her life as princess of Outworld, but eventually found redemption thanks to Earthrealm allies. I really love when kind of evil character (at the beginning) is going through road of redemption in the story and eventually joins the Light side of the Force and changes as a person in the process, getting lots of positive qualities. In original timeline Kitana was able to make peace between eternal rivals Shokans and Centaurs, she rescued her home realm and mother and ruled Edenia for some time and lead forces of Light into final battle of Armageddon. I love such kind of complex characters who find their way to the good. Her gameplay is my most favorite among female characters, because martial arts + magic is always a win, especially if it is used by trained assassin from another world.
I also really like Liu Kang and Kitana together as a couple and was actually hoping for their descendant to appear in MKX after they were revealed in living forms in their trailers, which gave me hope of their soon resurrection in the story. Just imagine what kind of insane character would be if you combine Liu Kang and Kitana, we could get a male razor fans user who can do bicycle kicks and throw some fire balls + parry, lift and something of his own while wearing red-blue colored costume. I would main the hell out of this character. Not to mention that he would be prince of Edenia by mother's side and a Shaolin warrior by father's side.

Make love, not war. Peace!
The art is done by a friend.

And this one is done by a friend as well.

ErMac333

Noob
1. Tanya, best horrible person ever.
2. Ermac, ever since UMK3, in MKD he just achieved perfection in his base design.
3. I just can't decide and leave out some kharacters I really care about, Mileena, Baraka, Reiko, Kenshi, Shinnok, Ashrah... I just kan't do it.

The PantyChrist

Rest in Pantiez
1) Shang Tsung.
An intelligent, crafty sorcerer, serves Shao Kahn but is only biding his time to gain more power later. I forget if it was a vibe I got or was actually part of the story but I remember Shao Kahn not fully trusting Shang because he sensed his intentions but still kept him around because he knew he was a powerful asset. He became my favorite during mk9 and going back through the older games I started playing him more. I love that there was more to him than met the eye, At first glance he appeared to be a feeble old man but when the time came he was more than met the eye. He had badass fatalities in mk2, mk3 and 9.

2)Kung Lao-
Hp, lp, hp, lp, lk, lk, hk.
21212, 112124. Throw. The tele moves and hat. This character has always been visually appealing. I mained him and reptile in umk3. He also had the first fatality I ever remember doing, Run, block run block down

3) I've never really had another character that I could put as a third, I suppose ermac reptile, maybe sindel could go here.
All for various design, lore, nostalgia reasons
