On a side note, there are really only two MK characters that I cannot stand - Mokap and Meat.

1) Kitana - she's the best character ever, especially in MK2. Her personality was strong and dark. Too bad she became vanilla on MK9. But now, as a empress of Netherealm, she is full of personality again. I hope she stays evil forever.

2) Shang Tsung - the whole idea of sorcerers in MK came from him. He looked really bossy in MK1 and MK3 for me, even thought he was always a punching bag. I hope he returns on next MK as a real evil character and owns it all next time.

3) Rain - Water + lightning + purple = favorite male ninja. Hope they can give him more importance next games (loved his part on MKX storymode). I really enjoyed all his designs, especially MKX and MK9.

Honorable mentions: Jade, Fujin, Mileena, Raiden, Motaro, Sindel, Kotal Kahn and Human Smoke.

1. Kung Lao

Always been my favourite, he's shaolin, he's not a Bruce Lee clone. And when I was little I proper fanboyed the MK conquest series.

The hat is sick, especially in mkx.
Feeling revenant Lao as a bad guy aswell, especially with his cheeky attitude as well 'enjoy your affliction', 'learn from this'. I can totally identify with his banter.
:DOGE

2. I'd probably say Shang Tsung, the guy steals souls, for eternity, for strength and youth etc etc. If you just take a minute to consider the magnitude of how evil that is, I think it's great. He's probably the most evil character in the series I think.

The whole concept of him is just pure evil and I love it. But I prefer him as old man Shang.

3. Rain - 4RH

THTB

Arez | Booya | Riu48 - Rest Easy, Friends
1. Reptile - I remember playing MK1 on my aunt's SNES, and somehow managing to unlock the secret fight with him without even knowing how, after seeing him randomly pop up at times when I played. I was like holy crap he's a green Scorpion and Sub-Zero! I got destroyed, but nonetheless, it was so cool to unlock the secret fight with him. Then I remember the times on Genesis MK2 watching my cousin play, and he would pick Reptile and frantically do the inputs to go invisible, and then actually fight like that. I thought this character was amazing. From that point on, I always picked him. No matter what. I loved him more as he was made an actual lizard. I can never ever think to not pick him in an MK game.

2. Tremor - I didn't hear of Tremor until I started going on the MK wiki and read about him while looking up Special Forces. My favorite element is earth, so naturally he attracts me as a character. I love what they did with him in MKX.

3. Hotaru - When MK Deception came out, Reptile wasn't in it (one of the few reasons I didn't enjoy MK Deception nearly as much as any other MK). So, looking for a new character to use, I gravitated towards Hotaru. His armor looks cool, and the humorous memories of Pi Gua 1 in MK Deadly Alliance drew me to him more.

Agilaz

It has begun
Sektor is #1 bae, no doubt about it. I really hope he'll be in KP2, though it seems extremely unlikely. Rocket pressure was so much fun in MK9 and he also had hands-down the best fatality in that entire game. I also loved him in UMK3.

Number 2 - Old man Tsung. I didn't play him much in the older games, but I did co-main him in MK9. This guy knows how to handle a soul, unlike dumb Spermac.

And finally - Goro. Yes, I'm glad he's in MKX as a playable character. Yes, I like his design. But for me there's also a hint of heartbreak because he's not very good and has trouble properly competing with the rest of the cast. Still, since no Sektor and no Shang Tsung, he's gonna be my main for this game.

Devil Apes
1. Noob Saibot
2. Ermac
3. Liu Kang

Noob Saibot is an obvious one. He has always been my favourite ninja for obvious reasons and i would die to see him in Kombat Pack 2.

Ermac, I've had a huge obsession with him as a teenager. There was something about the red ninja with telekinisis powers that really clicked with me. He also was my day 1 MKX main, but sadly i don't really like his playstyle so I dropped him months ago.

As for Liu Kang, I know he is considered one of the most bland and unoriginal characters of the game by many, and i agree with that to some extent. As a child though, I always admired him in the games and movies because he was always the "good guy" (up to some point at least). In a universe full of villains and "bad guys" I had a special liking towards the main hero.

This may be part of the reason that MK2 Reptile is my favorite iteration ever, but something about that iteration just seems so pure. Slide. Invis. Acid spit. Forceball. And an awesome anti-air roundhouse, since his MK2 uppercut is trash haha. His MK2 look is so awesome for reason, even down to his simple win pose with both arms up.

Sadly, I do not find his playstyle interesting in MKX, but MK2 Reptile is and likely will always be my favorite character of all time in the MK universe.

As I mentioned in my original post, I feel the exact same way. His MK9 incarnation is my personal favorite, and I was so psyched when I saw that he was in MKX, but after a few hours of playing him, I just didn't like how he felt and realized he wasn't for me this time around.

MK9 "mk1 costume" Ermac for life! I think that was another reason I LOVED him in MK9 so much... you could pick the MK1 skin. After spending my childhood hunting for Ermac, MK9 felt like oh my god, here is that MK1 character AND I FINALLY GET TO PLAY HIM!

SaltShaker

In Zoning We Trust
Pretty cool thread. In MKX D'Vorah and Takeda are probably my favorite designs, but it's like the only fighting game I've ever played where I didn't have a clear cut "favorite" character.

All time favorites however-

MK2 Kung Lao

The reason I play MK. I remember as a kid having played SF and getting MK2. My mom took me to the mall and I played on the MK2 aracade cabinet while she bought stuff. Some older kid who knew how to play bodied me with Kung Lao. When I saw him throw the hat I was "cool" but when I saw the hat toss fatality I was like "oh shit! How'd you do that?!?" He showed me and the rest was history.

MK Trilogy Rain

When I was getting good in MK Rain was my main in Trilogy. For some reason I thought the Lightning move, Roundhouse Kick, and Waterball were the GOAT looking special ma lol. Thought he was much cooler than the Scorpion and Sub-Zero characters and I hated Ermac at the time.

Mk2-MK3 Noob-Saibot

In the history of MK, no character looked as badass as Noob Saibot. As the hidden fight in MK2 and even better when he was in MK3. The disable ball felt like some godly OP move back then. I remember everyone and their grandma was a Noob fan back then. New people I showed him like "look at this character" because he was so boss looking. The one character I wish made the MKX roster was Noob, feel like the 3 variayion system would have been godlike for him.

Honorable mention goes to MK1 Scorpion and Deception Kenshi.

Klassic Kostumes in MK9 were S+++++ tier.

TackyHaddock

Salty Mashers Krew
1) mk9 kabal, love him with all my heart, 2) Kung jin, love him with all my heart, 3) mk2 kung lao, he was fuckin badass

LeoMK29

Noob
1.) Mileena - The first time I ever played an MK game, which was MK2 when I was like 5, I was drawn to the female characters. I really liked the aesthetics and the weapons Mileena and Kitana had. They were my immediate favorites, even though I was too scared to pick them when ever I played with anyone because I didn't want to be called gay :( I was also low-key mind blown with the player 2 colors. Just thought they were cool as a kid. Haha

2.) Kitana - Same as above, maybe a tie with Mileena.

3.) Ermac - I enjoyed playing Ermac in MK9 as a casual, well I'm still a casual but probably a little better than the average player. Not sure why I didn't play Kitana and Mileena in MK9. I guess I wasn't as invested and when MKX came out I wanted to main characters I really liked.

Just throwing this out there but some characters people like piss me off. Characters up to UMK3 are respectable no arguments. Select few from MK4 are ok (reiko, quan and maybe shinnok). Deadly alliance 1 (kenshi) deception none, Armageddon (just the perfect terrible most awesome game in the world. no new characters... kinda) MK9 none. MKX 2 (D'Vorah and F/T) outside of that it makes me mad to see a new character instead of a UMK3 character.

Everytime they make a MK game they should start with the UMK3 cast and build from there. Then I'd probably always be happy.

FrankOceansWaifu

Watch this set up.
1 Shang Tsung, love the idea of shape shifting into anyone and having almost limitless knowledge of fighting styles. I also love his creepy, old man, asshole-ish attitude.

2 Quan Chi, he's probably my favorite villain in anything. He's such a sick and vile dude yet so badass and stylish, I love the idea of bending your opponent's will and controlling them until they're destroyed. Also godlike voice.

3 Goro, he has 4 arms.

ZigZag

That Welsh Guy
1- Sub Zero, this guy has always been "cool"... or "guys" I suppose.
2- Liu Kang, if he looks like Bruce lee, acts like Bruce lee, and fights like Bruce lee... i'm a fan.
3- Takeda, this kid is just straight ballin'

Hidan

Where the hell is Reiko's wheel kick
Myers, Cordell, Jas... oops, ok

1.Quan Chi - his personality is so great, even mk lore restrains him. The "living" proof devil is not necessarily the most evil being

2.Drahmin - Faceless, cold, brutal

3.MK4 Reiko, Shinnok, Rain, Havik - can't decide
