Heartbreak Tier.

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
That feeling when, after what seems like ages of searching, you finally find the one character/variation/combination that suits your every palette and taste...only to fall victim to the harsh and stark reality that there are more than enough better/more viable/far more capable/dirtier than dirty options in the roster's rotation to render your seemingly perfect fit as invalid as butter in a snowstorm.

I am Lt. Boxy Static. And while over the last long while I have devoted myself to Kano (and Tremor, but mostly Kano) and the Black Dragon, I find myself absolutely sunken in the depths of MK despair as to how bleak the future looks for my main.
I come seeking solace from my fellow less-than-top-tier playing kinfolk in the hopes of finding some manner of reassurance other than waiting blindly for KP2 and hopeful hope for the future.

Are we doomed?

I'm not sure I understand the point of this thread. Us telling you to keep going isn't going to make you stick with your character especially if you've already made up your mind on their viability/worth. I'm only using Goro right now, I am content with my choice. Having fun, feeling good about the game and my chances, which is what matters to me.

I would understand your struggle, but Imposter Shinnok is the 2nd to my Cyber Kano, and between the two of them I only find myself really struggling with Lao's pressure, which I think is more of a mental block than anything. There's no reason you can't play multiple characters. If dual maining Kano and Quan Chi helps you feel better about things, do it. Kano does have good matchups, though. So find something that appropriately suits your needs.

NRS, Guilty Gear, and KI, the holy trinity
I had to drop billanced kenshi, only to fall into lasher who fits me even better, and is way better, and has a lot of untapped potential to be discovered, lots of tech to be explored, it is like a new frontier, I have finally found true happiness in this game, although there is a little depressing spot of losing kenshi which was like abandoning my child

I agree, wholeheartedly.
It's just another episode of how painful and mind-boggling it is to see as time goes on how much more elaborate and tool-heavy some Kombatants are compared to others. Not even in a competetive sense anymore, just in a "how the sam hell was this contrast allowed to happen?" sense.

Also, I main Cyber Kano and Aftershock Tremor, but I've tried to pick up at least one variation for every character. Much like IGAU and MK9, the best means I have/best way I know how to learn to fight my opposition is to use them myself - why, idk, it's just how I learn - so I suppose that's where this really stems from.

If you play Aftershock Tremor and Cybernetic Kano, you're already covered. Tremor is no joke or slouch character in the current meta of the game, he is very good. Kano isn't trash either. It seems like every game no matter who you play you have a character crisis lol. Even when you mained Cyrax you still did so it's kind of just going to happen no matter what. If you like this team so much, it's really on you as a player to make that team work not on the rest of the cast because Kano and Tremor combined should cover everyone.

Trying to learn everyone instead of developing your Tremor and Kano in a more complete way is probably feeding into the perception of it being a struggle for you. Just from my observations, that particular tactic doesn't seem to work out swimmingly for you. This is just my observations, you don't have to agree, but it's an honest opinion.

I honestly feel that all the characters can compete and win. ( apart from maybe Kenshi and Jensen). I also play a good amount of Kano myself , mostly commando , but also cybernetic. All the matches that feel difficult for commando are , for the most part covered by cybernatic. Kano is by no means top tier but he is alright.

I picked Kano, and Cassie day one. I can live with being captain of team #NOverhead, no ragrets, but sometimes I want to win. That's what Cassie's there for.
