It's all so very confusing.
Or you could play the game as the lone wander, no companions the entire run as much as possible.

I HATE AI companions in games, I've been running without even the dog since the start lol.

I'm going go start a 5 luck 1 int Idiot Savant play through at some point today.

I know I can artificially create difficulty by wearing shit armor and such, but to me, that kinda defeats the purpose. I want the difficulty to force me to use every available means to survive and push through, ie, keep on top.of my armor and weapons, utilize traps and explosives and planning, etc. It sounds dumb, but by gimping myself to.increase difficulty I end up with a 'where does it end' mentality. Well I wore cloth bit got through, maybe to make it harder I'll not.upgrade my gun or only use this or that etc, which ends up.cutting out pieces of the game.

And please don't get me wrong, I'm still having a blast and some things are still difficult. Like I ran in to a base thing with 3 legendary super mutants, one with a rocket laucnher WAY up on a platform. His aim was ridiculous. That took me a few tries to get through. But now that I have a new sniper rifle, if the same situation happened again, I'd body that.mofo.. Lol

Hmm. I can't decide on melee balls out absurd full frontal explosion punching, or melee quiet sneaky sneak stabby stab.
Whip them balls out bay-bee

P.S. Powerfist is fucking OP god damn(especially the one I have, has a damage multiplier for consecutive hits), I actually try to avoid using it for the sake of challenge.

Holy shit I just found a HUGE crashed airliner full of rare clothes. One of the items is the "Red Dress" which, when I looked it up a few days ago, was said to only be obtainable by killing or pickpocketing the singer in Good Neighbor. Most of it is women's clothing, including the female MC's pre-war clothes and 2 of the 3 Laundered dresses.

After a while, F4 seems kind of bland. Almost every single building looks the same inside and has enemies. What happened to the empty lootholes of NV? The ghoul subways of F3?

As long as you don't go south you'll pretty much be encountering the exact same enemies in the exact same places. Discovered a place? 100% chance of enemies inside.

I can't tell how many alleys I've turned near diamond city to find the exact same scenario is in the other 100000 places.

I keep a running narrative in my head, it helps to spice up the repetitive nature of FO4's enemies.

I have found a few places that were abandoned , had some loot and were bereft of enemies, and a few places with nothing at all, loot or enemies.

Getting excited for my melee play-through . Havent decided but I might stream it.

Yeah I've also found quite a few places with no enemies. It's not uncommon for me. I don't know about ghoul subways but I'm pretty sure there's a police station somewhere full of nothing but Ghouls. The other day I found a building infested with Mirelurks(and a queen) and I found the nest and got at least 50 eggs, so I've got a bunch of omlettes in stock.

Idk game still feels fresh to me, Ive barely even scratched the surface. An hour ago I ran into a bunch of mutants blowing each other the fuck up inside of a valley filled with giant plane wreckage. And then I blew them the fuck up with my fists.

Didn't read anyone mention this yet but has anyone else realized how ridiculously powerful the musket rifle is when it's modded? I found a 5 crank musket in the armory at the castle that, when fully charged, will kill almost anything with 1 shot.... There's only been a couple unique or legendary enemies that took 2 charged shots to kill. It's basically my go to sniper now... It's so fuckin strong.

That laser one? Yeah, I stopped using the one you got from Preston at the beginning because I thought it made things trivial. I roflstomped everyone at Corvega with it and hung it up in the annals of Minutemen history

Don't write it off. I'm telling you when you upgrade it it becomes STUPID powerful.

I had the same problem. I restarted my character after realizing how strong gear can baby up the game, even on survival mode. If you're looking for a challenging/rewarding stealth build check this one out, it's been making my experience much more enjoyable:

Strength 3 (for Armorer)
Perception 3 (+1 from the Perception Bobblehead = 4 so I have access to Locksmith)
Intelligence 9 (for maximized leveling (sans Idiot Savant) while leaving space for the INT Bobblehead)
Endurance 1 (this is for the challenge, my character's a total glass cannon, if I don't stealth my way through a situation I'm getting bodied)
Charisma 3 (for the Lone Wanderer perk, the only companion I use is Dogmeat anyway)
Agility 6 (+1 from "You're SPECIAL" = 7 for Ninja)
Luck 3 (for bloody mess)

You could mess with the above stats however suits you, but the key is no Endurance investment. It's turned my Fallout experience into Splinter Cell.

It's a difference in perspective I guess.

I see it as "I know I can demolish this whole camp in seconds with my power fist, but I wonder how i'll adapt and be creative if I went in with a tire iron or pocket knife nstead?" the same mentality as challenge modes in other games where they add different variables and see how you overcome an ordinarily normal challenge that has an added twist or change.

Is it weird that I almost never use V.A.T.S. ?

Like, It just seems kind of wonky to me and messes with the momentum of the game.

Probably different with guns though.

I find myself not really using V.A.T.S. that much as well. The most I'll use it on are Ghouls because of how they just fucking flail all over the place, tripping and shit, making me miss my first shot. -_-

Spoiler: Shameless Equipment Bragging Ahead!

I found a legendary rifle that shoots two bullets for each shot. I modded the shit out of it so that it deals around 117 damage at a range of over 200 and is suppressed. With the double-shot feature (meaning it actually deals around 234), it kills anything in 1 shot and doesn't call attention to me. I took out that entire castle of super mutants on Survivor without being detected.

The combat shotgun is insane, especially with the suppressor. Between it and the double-shot rifle, I'm covered from short to extreme range.

Finally got the Power Armor Helmet Mod that highlights any living target in red. Between that and the insane scopes you can put on shit, I no longer have to scour the scenery for enemies or spam the VATS button.

When it comes to explosive ordinance, the Missile Launcher with a scope and Quad Mount is insane. I can't wait to add the Targeting Computer mod, but even without it I can end entire settlements of baddies from a nice safe distance. I haven't done too much testing, but from about medium range I can get 3 to 4 missiles out before the first one finds its target. The Fat Man is nice, but ammo is too hard to come by.

Right now, Survivor difficulty just means as long as I don't step on a mine or eat a direct missile, I don't really have much to worry about.

What are some awesome pieces of gear you all have found?

That would mess with my headcanon though-I'm a guy from the 50's who was obsessed with John Wayne films and is taking the opportunity

It works for my headcanoned cowboy character as a quickdraw personally. Otherwise, I wouldn't use it, it's more of a pain in the ass than it is worth
