Plus on block.
I feel like this settlement shit is important but I could really care less about it. Tina Toecutter(yeah that's what I went with, and Codsworth says it) isn't the type to stop drop settle down open up shop.

Noob's saibot or noob saibot's?
Place generator (anywhere close to the building)
Put switch on outside wall
Connect switch to generator
Make sure switch is on

I'm pretty sure that's it. Tell me if this worked for you.

No thanks.

Holy shit, I went to Forest Grove Marsh at night and it was the most terrifying thing ever. I'm just walking like hmm this town is abandoned, guess it'll be easy lootings. Then I just hear the splish-splash of water and realize there's ghouls climbing out of the ground all around me.
You get me man, you get me.
Only way I'll build anything is after I beat it - just to build a settlement in Forest Grove - and to see how it does at night.

I made it to Radiation-Land and was all set to make a run for it to get back. That would have been stupid instead of using Quick Travel.

All too easy...
Found the sickest melee weapon and the sneak bobblehead in the same place. Its a ritual sacrifice blade that does bleed and poison damage over time that stacks. Not spoiling the location though

I found an interesting thing so I'll re-post it here. This is basically a cheat so use it at your own discretion.
For PC players, if you want to get pretty much an infinite amount of crafting materials instantly you can use this. I guess it's nice for people who want to build their settlements without having to run around and gather resources like trees.

1. Open up a text document and paste the following into it.

2. Once you've pasted everything, save the document to your Fallout 4 directory and close it. Then change the file extention from a .txt to a .bat file. Don't run the bat file, you'll do that ingame.
3. Open up Fallout and get ingame. Press the ~ key to open up the console screen and type "bat <FILENAME>" without the quotations or brackets.
  • The file will run all the commands at the same time and give you every material listed in the quantity listed. TGM is "Toggle God Mode" which will allow you to have infinite carry weight.
  • The <FILENAME> part of the bat command is just whatever you named the document. If you named it buffquan then you would type "bat buffquan" without the quotations.
4. Once you've crafted what you want and don't want to be invincible anymore, open the console again and type TGM to remove godmode
  • Make sure you dump all your crafting materials into a workshop beforehand or else you'll be overburdened and won't be able to move.

Power to the people!
Pylons (any conduit) only effect light sources within a "1 block" radius. One conduit in the middle floor of a 3 story building can power the "1 block" radius of all three floors. (I may be completely wrong, though)

1) What do things like terminals do at a settlement? What's the point of a guard stand if no one stands in it??

2) How do you create new houses? Do you destroy the run down ones and build from scratch? What's the best way to do this?

3) What do you plug in to a generator other than the radio tower?

4) Do enemies ever attack your town or does it stay crisp? Have you gotten anything for rebuilding?

I've only minimally done the rebuilding stuff. Seemed like a lot so I hit the wasteland. Much appreciated if you know these questions!

Damn, nice. There are some pretty sweet weapons in this game, I'm rocking a battleaxe for melee atm :D

If you've gone to diamond city and have been asked to find valentine. you need to go in the middle of a city

theres a place called swan's pond with a floating swan. a raider is triggered to run towards it because inside the swan is a gatling laser, you need to run and get it first or else you've pretty much dead.

1.
Terminals allow you to toggle and/or modify electronics that are connected. You need to assign a person to the guard points. The guard points add some defense. One person can handle 3 guard points

2.
Start by putting down a foundation (in the wooden floor section). After that, you can start adding walls and such.

3.
Some security stuff, water filters, and you need generators to do all the electronic stuff. Water filters are a huge source of income for me, so generators are essential.

4.
I have been attacked, but the raids are very easy to handle. They're pretty rare, too. And what do you mean by rebuilding?

Thanks a lot man!

For 1), how do you assign someone to a post? I didn't an option.

4) I meant like do you get any sorts of bonuses for rebuilding settlements, making them happier, etc, or is it just for "the fun of the game"?

You select the person in "build mode" and then select an outpost.
Making buildings doesn't have any direct benefit. It is pretty fun, though.
