In light of recent EGL Blowup - Top 5 Tournament BlowUps

I greatly enjoyed my time at TCW and look forward to its sequel next year. My only critique of the event was the use of Ticket Master and the headache that induced. Overall a minute point, still a very enjoyable event I'd urge others to make it to next year.

AB6 wasn't bad. Hell I handed out cash and prizes myself. Top 3 teams for MKX even got bonus Gearbox swag and collectibles. It wasn't knwn right out, just something I decided I wanted to add...Thanks to Kotal Khan.

Why was I at the majority of these blowup tournaments...?

I'd like to add NCR 2013, where:
1. They refused to run Injustice even though it could have been the first Injustice major. (I ran a side tournament in pboard's hotel room)
2. They ran everything in two rooms with no communication. I got DQd from SF4 while playing MK9, and Chris G got DQd from MK9 while playing SF4.
3. It was run absolutely terribly in every way.
4. None of the TOs knew when top 8 was on Sunday, and when we asked at the main info desk they said "well why don't you check our website?" even though it wasn't on their website.

Sure they didn't literally rip off the cash pots, but I felt more ripped off at NCR than I did at Revelations by a long shot...
NCR Absolutely is an abysmal dumpster fire

Good call

That TO is #1 asshole

with all the hate some east coast majors get for various things, they're generally just a mix of unfortunate circumstances. big e, shock, rapzilla, etc would NEVER promise money they couldn't pay out, and when things go wrong they try their hardest to fix them. i'm really glad we haven't had to deal with shady to's around here.

This is actually a GREAT question. Were you guys not supposed to go to FR on someone's dime? Lol
To be fair, we got to do a lot for free considering how little we payed to enter, and I had a really good time. While we didn't get payed, I don't feel like we were intentionally ripped off, I think it was just bad planning on his part or something.

I still see him often and I think he's just forgotten about it at this point haha.

This guy looks kind of tuff...
How much does Epic Gaming League have to do with Epic Gaming Lounge? Were they the TO's for this event? If so, that's a big risk to their business to promise a big payout and not deliver.
They were the same ppl. They announced they closed down for good a few days before they told players from the tournament they won't get paid

ESL Season 1. Horseshit patch revealing a stupid ass broken character removes half of the participants from even being able to participate immediately. No fix or no mention of the problem for two whole months until it just randomly got fixed and no announcement that it was fixed. The people who quit playing because they couldn't didn't come back because the absolutely horseshit PR didn't even let them know that they could play again. Losing player allowed to advance to finale over the person that beat him.

Oh God, MLG lol. Hey, you guys can't play and we offer no chairs. But you can't leave or you get DQ'd. Good times.

Also want to add the Canada Cup to the list of reliable tournaments, always extremely well ran.
The only gripe with Canada cup I had was not receiving the promised pot bonus in 2012. But the event itself has been awesome.

Also final round 2014? I think could make the shit list. But I can see why pig didn't add it lol

OH boy, people need to get this whole "Promised money" thing correct before flexing, if you're the TO you best see that money find it's way into your hands or a contract legally binding the money to the winners of the event before you flex any numbers to the public and get pro players all hyped to travel here or there or just anyone in general who may attend and win expecting an exciting pay out.
