Who is the 'Ryu' of MKX Gameplay Wise?

@Enexemander Thanks for your input, and yeah, that is pretty much exactly what I was asking. Sorry if my OP wasn't clear enough.

I think Kano may the right answer too. He has everything, though he may not be the best in every area. Across each of his variations, he may have the tools to deal with everyone, thus he may be the "core" character on which MKX's GP style is based on.

It is an interesting thing to think about IMO, though it is kind of weird. Why would Kano of all the characters be the character to take this position. You'd think it would be one of the more mainstream, popular characters, but ehhh, whatever.

I do find it funny that the most "honest" character mechanics wise is the most dishonest character lore-wise.

Get on that hook
Kano has Ryu's crMK and Fireball as well as DP. Blanka Ball replaces Tatsu and you get a command grab in Commando or Ryu's F.MP in CutThroat. Doesn't get any more Ryu than that.

If you're asking on who is the base character of MKX? hard to tell. I guess Scorpion

This mean you don't like me?
The base character models and designs used initially when making the game were publicized prior to both this game's, and Injustice's inception. In Injustice, Hector Sanchez (we miss you man :( ) stated that Batman was the character used, and in interviews, it was stated that Scorpion was used for MKX. Take that as you will, because whether or not this defines a 'Ryu-esque' character is subjective. But in terms of overall balance and design (which shotos may or may not resemble as they are still two different kinds of games ) those are the characters in question straight from the horse's mouth.

This my opinion but when I ask someone who is Ryu of a game is it not saying I looking for a character who plays the most like ryu not at all.I'm looking for a character who is not only easy to learn but can tech me the mechanic of the game most without knowing anything.Now it is usually who the game is build around but isn't always the case.It the characters that usual good in every area of the game.Scorpion teaches you how to be offensive while Subzero caters more for defensive but in a whole I would say Raiden is the Ryu of the game.He has everything
fireball
teleport,
good normals
good walk,run,jump,
basic easy combo
easy punisher.He has so many tools to learn what and whats doesnt work.

I'm a lover, not a fighter
Boon has stated in the past that Lewis Kang is the "entry character" of the series, so I guess him.

Scorpion is a close second.

Cybernetic Kano.

Knife = hadouken
Upball = shoryuken
Straight ball = closest thing to tatsu
D4 = low forward

And he plays specifically around good footsies. His offensive is also very basic otherwise.

Liu Kang. You can learn all the basics and advanced techniques with Liu Kang alone throughout his 3 variations. Fire Ball Run Cancel, Instant Air Fire Balls, pressure, juggles, zoning, footsies... Everything from the beginner level of game knowledge to pro. He can be pretty much used as a core character to learn the game mechanics.
naw, Liu Kang is wayy too hard for a beginner.
He's meant for the champions of Mortal Kombat--
Kano is the answer.

But I didn't want to dash
Liu Kang plays more like ryu than any other character imo. Mostly when it comes to his neutral game. Up close I would say he's totally different.

The only "problem" to this design is that in MKX, pokes don't combo so something like D4 xx Knives won't net you the damage like crMK xx Hadouken does.
