General/Other - Ninjitsu Anyone else feels that Ninjutsu is missing something?

Well, you're gonna dislike me even more if you and @Matix218 keep derailing the thread with your bickering, so allow me to provide a solution from which all will benefit: ssssssssssssssssstop.

And here I was hoping I'd be in a character forum that lacks the shit-slinging...
I apologize Blake, I am done.

I shouldn't have kept on replying...

@NY-Shadow I think you two are misunderstanding each other.

This is not a projectile heavy game as you stated because true zoning characters are scarce but it is true that most characters have at least one projectile of some sort so in that you are correct but some characters like scorpion have one variation with a projectile not all 3 so if you want a projectile just choose hellfire

Two lessons, actually: don't get unnecessarily personal with your fellow users and don't insult staff. Sorry for making your reply kinda meaningless.

*ahem* Back on topic, my fellow warriors.

I know it would never happen and I'm not saying it should but armor on ex-spear would be amazing.

He would be an anti-zoning monster

Back on topic..... Armor on ex-spear :D
Oh come on now, its not like the EX spear armor would ever actually work when you needed it to anyway...

Every time I really needed an EX spear armor to work in MK9 scorp ended up reaching his arms too far and whiffing it so basically I just got full combo'd for my bar... Ahh the life of a Scorpion player :)

Well because almost every character in the game has exchange projectiles throughout all variations but not Scorpion. Ninjutsu is useless against heavy projectile characters because Ninjutsu's mixup options via pressure are very weak and limited. Sword or shuriken projectiles would be appropriate for the character given such a heavy projectile fighting game. That would make Scorpion complete as a well built and well rounded competitive character. If anyone doesn't agree with this is either because they hate Scorpion, don't use or have ever used Scorpion enough, or just knows nothing about this game.

Just some examples of Ninjustu vs projectile heavy characters.

After reading the replies from NY shadow I've got the impression that he's trolling. Considering the logic of a lot of people though it's hard for me to tell, especially on the Internet.

If you want to make him less bland I'm surprised none of mentioned giving him a string which is plus on block? You could make B121 (or 212 if you feel a plus on block mid is too strong) in Ninjutsu +1 on block then he would have some pretty legit pressure. That is the boring solution and the one that makes sense however.
The Paulo solution is to make f2 an overhead and make the thing a hard knockdown. That way he has a overhead combo starter sense you can cancel the first hit of the move.

hmm f2 as an overhead would be a dream, hehe but yeah, just make it safer than it is today, because a lot of characters with fast advancing strings like cassie, kotal, raiden can easily kill you on f2 block, other than that, i think they just need to fix the hitbox of the f2 blades, thing that i've noticed is, upfront it has really good range, but when the opponent is jumping right over your head, even when you got the good reads, the hitbox for the swords seem to end right in the middle of the swords and not all the way througout the tip, so yeah, i wish the hitbox for f2 against jumping opponents would be improved or fixed, so i't can be also be used against players who love to jump cross pressure, what more? plus strings?

I would not like an overhead f2. I like how ninjutsu plays as is. Maybe instead of a plus b121 it could just push back further to be at good footsies range.

I for once think his tools are exactly where it needs it do be, and i also believe their effectiveness and meta would be improoved without touching them just by buffing his walk back speed, but that's what i think.

ppl are already afraid of using wakeups against ninjutsu considering how extremely conditioning is F2, making that move safe on block would only overwhelm greatly on knockdown pressure.

Same has been happening with Takeda, is F21 string was already an overhead, now hits airbone and some are starting too see it might be too much since is a disjointed hitbox.

I just want to emphasize that I think @Slips suggestion of a safe f2 is the best change for Scorpion. It would keep him honest while making his up close game more threatening.

I'm not for paulo's suggestion of make f2 a hard knockdown overhead. My reasoning is I don't want to be forced to guess cancel the first hit of f2 to get a full combo. I like confirming that my f2 hit without having to commit to something unsafe. I think f2 should primarily be used for footsies and armor crushing. In its current state f2 rewards good footsies which is one of the reasons I enjoy ninjutsu so much. I understand that an overhead f2 would be very good but imo the character doesn't need it to be viable. Also I think it would make him somewhat overpowered. My reasoning is that once in the 50/50 range of f2, b3 and d4 players will be eager to step back out of that range which would make b2 so much more of a threat. He would also gain a real looping vortex that would be somewhat safe with meter. He would maybe shoot to the top of the tier list if this happens.

Yeah I definitely took the troll bait... I should have just said "yeah, ok buddy" and stopped replying to him but apparently Blake used a full screen minion to drag him down to the netherrealm so its all good!

On topic,

I would rather the f2 stay mid and still launch rather than it be overhead and HKD. I do wish the move was safer so we could use it up close without risk of getting blown up but I would still prefer the way he is now to him having f2 be overhead but only grant a knockdown even if they made it safe. The damage potential off of f2 currently is why people are forced to respect it so much which opens up throws and other options.

I will say b121 or 212 being slightly plus would be cool just so you could maintain pressure a little better (I don't think it would make him broken by any means).

But if they don't end up changing him that's fine with me, I like him the way he is. If I want to pressure more I use hellfire anyway

You would still have the damage potential off of f2 by canceling the first hit but I think it would devolve his game into more 50/50 and less footsies. I like the idea of playing a low risk playstyle that works off of conditioning rather than 50/50s. It's why I enjoy this variation so much. It could be made stronger than it already is in its current state with just the suggestions made by you and slips.

I think f2 being safe is really all he needs considering he's already got a 6 frame follow up that most people have to respect after 114 and b121.

Yeah good point about his 6frame d1.

I just like being able to confirm off of f2 rather that throw a hail mary special move out after the first hit. It might actually be better having it be an overhead but he would really be more of a 5050/vortex character in Ninjitsu at that point and I love the way he plays now so I just would prefer they make f2 safe (or safer, maybe make point blank f2 a just frame reversal punish for certain characters only) so it does not completely change his playstyle

STRYKIE

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
What fuckboi came up with the idea of making F2 an overhead HKD? come on son...

As I've said before there are plenty of other ways to give him a more serviceable overhead option in this variation without having to touch F2.

Granted, it is up for debate as to whether Ninjutsu needs a better overhead option, but I don't understand why people are so paranoid about whether it would make the variation dishonest or not. We're already entertaining a psuedo-safe armor breaker that takes over a third of their life into a restand and makes people apprehensive about when their turn is. There aint much honesty in a rap sheet like that lol.

And unless B32 was made special cancellable (assuming it would link into teleport), he still wouldn't really have a vortex in this variation lol.
