I'm posting this over some general frustration about how tournament edition hasn't gotten the attention or traction that maybe it could have.
I will admit, I'm not the biggest proponent of the game. However, it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE The way the game is "marketed". The only videos I've seen areoccasional streams, notably where @Juggs and @YOMI REO are going at it, Juggs is playing like it's Evo and reo just trying to demo characters. Same with @Shock and @NoDoubt amongst others. Then there's the vid where bass proves the game isn't glitch jabs and a dream vs @Konqrr
Why can't us newer guys get some decent matches with tournament edition? Let us get some games in to see why it's superior. I am at least two beta versions behind Now. I got to play @Juggs around Christmas for 20 minutes. Was supposed to play Reo at some point but he no showed.
The ROM is out there. The ability to play with 2-3 frames delay is there.
I don't have the time nor the resources to travel to the coast to play this game off-line. One would think that a few frames of a delay is certainly worth the hundreds of dollars in savings from travel and other expenses.
Maybe we can get enough of the "online crowd" which I am sure I am a part of. Maybe somehow we can convince our elders to show us the quality of this new game.

we haven't really pushed the game that much because of how far off it is from some kind of completion, I think once it resumes and the field has been leveled in terms of what changes are unnecessary and what need to stay, how we can make some changes better, etc, it'll catch on.

I played like crap against REO, we both were just trying to show off the game somewhat competitively and using a bunch of characters. The connection was actually really good too.

TE is super fun I just have no free time to play it right now. I will around November though. Once I do get free time and @YOMI REO is down, I'll head over to Yomi and play him in MKT and TE.

I'm well aware of that. I play offline every chance I get, but there isn't a lot of availability to play offline around me on a regular basis. 2-3 frames is better than nothing. At least I think.

I'd be willing to pay/travel depending on my availability. Being a single dad, having a relationship with a woman, and a job with regular hours that I can't "trade shifts" with anyone, can greatly limit that availability.

Totally off subject here, however the timing of the post is funny AF. Some people are online only and if I played them in person they would get beat 10-0. The other night i was playing this guy and i was hitting up/down as fast as i could go but the teleports refused to come out. Not going to lie, I rage quit on the guy. Ill admit it. Let me catch this guy at a tournament and it will be a diffrent story.

If this got an official release somehow once it was finished, it'd be a lot more popular. Most people have no idea what MAME is or what ROMs are, and even fewer who know how to operate them. If this was released as an actual game you could purchase or download for free on PC and consoles, you'd see a lot of activity.

Most people are lazy, and don't care enough about the game to do the work necessary. The other people don't have enough free time to worry about it, so they don't bother.

And that won't happen. Not the way it sets right now anyway. No way NRS or Ed Boon would allow it. I think our best bet of this game ever catching traction again would be some kind of re-release, far better than arcade collection, on these newest generation consoles

To voice my unwanted opinion, I quit playing UMK3 altogether because of TE. The public beta is pretty messy, and 100 years old now. Even with all the new changes, people still just wanted to play vanilla. I think I'll stick to MKT64.

This makes me sad :( I enjoyed our matches, even across the pond, P2P connection wasn't terrible. If I can ever get help getting mupen set up, I'd be down for some 64 MKT!

I just don't get why would people wanna play any of the past MK games over MKX? Actually, nvm, I would play them. I mean play it seriously and practice on a daily basis when you can just practice MKX.

All of the "mess" from the beta is cleaned up and fixed (the stuff that was bugged, ie: 2v2, jade, etc). I'm just waiting for H.Smoke adjustments to be finished and sent to me so I can release an update you guys can play.

Can we get a preview on that human smoke thing?

Also… Is it possible to maybe add a combo breaker into the system? Maybe block and run at the same time that breaks a combo, but has some ridiculous amount of frames disabled afterwards, so it can only be used once a round?

I would love to, but a far as i know, nothing is done with him yet. The plan is to give him some damage back.

I wish you'd do the proper jab infinite, not that dick move slow jab stuff. Howcome your PS3 never lags but your MAME lags out like crazy? You're a good enough player you don't need that.


Some more unsolicited thoughts on TE... Probably as nuts as the original idea, but hey, what could it hurt?

Put the normals back to, well, normal. Throw recovery back to where it was, hit/block stun back to where it was.
Some of the hit boxes need to go back to normal. Female characters are smaller, and perhaps should be treated as such. Kitana is the only one who has really crazy damage potential anyway (vanilla). It only applies to female ninjas right? Sonya, Sindel don't have that issue. If you're going to go universal on what hits and what doesn't, you need to evaluate the falling hitboxes on Lao, Liu, Sonya (i think), and the robots. Smoke and Ermac's teleports off a jump kick go right through them. I think it should be unchanged.

(as a side note, Johnny Cage is totally DOMINANT on the arcade ladder in UMK2 TE lol.. .walk in, shadow kick, repeat.)

Anti-Airs got nerfed something fierce. If you jump you run the risk of being punished, plain and simple. Need damage back there.

Chip damage needs to change. Normal chip on every attack needs to be cut in half, at least. Everyone should get boss combo chip damage. No chip after 2 hits in a combo. I think it's just too easy to chip someone out, especially in vanilla.

NO character should have 50%+ BnB combos. Not even the beloved Human Smoke and Ermac. Full on punishers, sure. But not BnB.

Maybe Noob should be a selective chameleon. I know there's a way to lock out/disable moves after others. You lock out all other specials and combo inputs, say, after an iceball connects

Then after all that's done, give everyone boss damage. 2-3 combos shouldn't end a round. This game is an adrenaline rush, but extending rounds and matches would really test mental grit.
