For the Kotal mains out there do you have any trouble consistently landing jump in 1 into f2? For some reason I only get the two to connect about half the time. The other half the time the f2 gets blocked.

Let the controller go neutral for an instant before inputting the F2 and it will link for you every time.

Exactly what Gav said, and also do this to continue more f2s

If you hold forward but rapidly press 2, you won't land the
f2, f2, f2, f2 combo for example. You'll only get three. You must let the directional pad go neutral between each f2.

Can anyone tell me the frame advantage or disadvantage on 114 into totem? I tested it in practice and it seems to be slightly positive (the same as 114 air grab, +4?) or neutral.

I think it's the same advantage as 114-air grab
Thanks for the confirmation. So in the corner with full meter 114 crystal totem, b122 ex sunstone, RC, 114 air grab, rinse and repeat does 70% chip lol. I know this isn't a true block string but it seems to work against a large amount of players as Kotal players never actually use this gimmic.

Why the hell does sun god's EX choke whiffs on certain strings of characters? I like using it on wakeup but it's become more of a gamble to me now knowing that certain strings stuff it. And I'm not talking about fast armor breaking strings, no, I'm talking about any random string will make EX choke whiff.

Some strings are throw invincible unfortunately.

Damn that's sucks. Well has anyone bothered to make a list? Or would that be too much work?
That's considered airborne though, it's the same as jumping.
yeah I'd figure any string where the character does a move with both feets off the ground is considered being airborne and therefore throw immune. Like kung jins "standing 4" for example.

One day there should be a list compiled of what these strings are, for example I know Mileena's F3,3,4 isn't grabbable at least on the F3.
YES. If someone made a thread where we could all contribute to prevent 1 person from doing all the work. I wouldn't mind helping with a few of my main characters.

I'm hearing there's a lot of stealth patches in this latest update. Anyone test whether EX Parry still has the invincibility frames when not used as a wakeup? I can't because PovertyC.

how do you counter his footsies though?
You counter his footsies by trying to stay out of range and making Kotal (or any character) whiff their poke if possible, then counterattacking. Your other option is to start your counter poking when something is disadvantageous on block (i.e. f+1,2 = -6 on block). You just have to watch out for armored reversals. Counterpoking like this is a strategy you can apply to any character's footsies.

What Rude says is true, and it's normally just a hard guess on whether the throw is coming or not after the blocked poke. Same example of f+1,2 being -6 on block... still means that EX Sun God Choke could trade with your armor move, but you could also jump/backdash away to make the choke whiff then punish.

That same Kotal Kahn can set you up for a parry from the same poke sequence so you're just guessing and hoping to not get blown up. Chances are unless you've blown up the tick throw sequence before you won't see`a fake unless that Sun God player is VERY crafty.

Last method of survival Invincible Salads is to become employed by Kotal Kahn. The emperor may not kill you if you're working for him :D

what do you mean by see a fake? also, this kotal seems to be a very annoying character, especially with his disc toss. doesnt he have a thing where air grab makes him +?
