Glortor, are you still mad that 3 years ago you got exposed 10-0 babies for not knowing what the hell you were talking about despite being obnoxiously opinionated?

I read halfway through the diatribe you wrote and I had to stop because of how stupid it was. Just stop. Here's a picture of a snake with a tiny hat:

Cossner posts another funny Reptile image. I'm obligated to like it.

Glortor, I get where you're coming from and agree about TYM's shitty attitude, but your post is just really silly and didn't make much sense.

For the record, NRS didn't even make the 3D models, they were outsourced to a Chinese company. And I guarantee you they costed way, way more than $5,000 as well lol.
Is that really true? do you have a source? just kinda sad if it is.

The first part of my post is serious.
The part where I say NRS is fucking up, is semi-serious; I understand how game development works, what I don't understand is why they prioritised a huge roster instead of making 5 characters for the first season, all 5 of which are balanced and playable online.
The part where I wrote conversations and pointless shit I was snickering at my screen imagining it like a cartoon and wanted to share the nonsense.

I do in fact know how game development works, way more than the average laic.
I do in fact care about this game, and feel it underwhelming because I have no offline scene.
I do NOT in fact rage at my screen 24/7 like some people do who forget that this is only a game.

Do I feel like I wasted money on this? Yes.
Have I given up hope? No.

I in fact believe that the long wait is going to give us some fixes to online play that everybody has been asking for; it does take a very long time to fix that and hopefully they will have the resources to test it all.
I am willing to guarantee that the biggest reason that they focused on a large roster of characters is due to sales. The posters on TYM are not the majority of the people who buy their games, that is the casuals. Mortal Kombat still has an extensive history so it also has various characters to it so obviously, more characters means a higher chance to appeal to other people. If you were here pre-release, you saw how much people were annoyed and hoping to find their favorite character would make it, and quite a few were disappointing. I know people who didn't get the game due to their favorite character not being in it or who are saying they'll stop playing if some character doesn't make it into KP2. Mortal Kombat is a casual fighter that ultimately still needs to make money so they are forced to appeal to the casual audience. As unfortunate as it is, NRS can't proritize the fan base on TYM and make the game according to our desires and leave their casual fan base alone.

Play while reading:

NRS General: "MEIN FUHRER, THE NEXT INTERACTIVE VIDEO PROGRAM
IS READY FOR DEPLOYMENT! WE AWAIT YOUR GLORIOUS INSTRUCTIONS!"

WB: "Very good! Is our Minister of Propaganda Ed Boom ready with his speeches?"

NRS General: "Yes, he has much dialogue prepared explaining how the netcode is being
coded by savants in studio and will be much more efficient than previous generations."

WB: "Excellent... What about our beloved PC master race? We must give
them reassurance before release to maximize sales, yes?"

NRS General: "Ja, He is to be interviewed by one "Angry Joe" and will
explain in no uncertain terms that our lackey High Voltage wont screw up this time."

...

WB: "That takes care of the hardcore players. What about the casuals?"

NRS General: "We have prepared three variations per character, DLC costumes, pointless factions systems, towers, brutalities, a krypt..."

WB: "Say no more! I'm getting sick just thinking about how much money I'll be making!"

...

WB: "What about new recruits?"

NRS General: "We've actually got one working down the hallway right now.
We're thinking about hiring him full time..." "GGA16TONS REPORT TO THE EXCELLENCIES OFFICE RIGHT NOW!"

16TONS: "Kitana player Reporting for duty!"

WB: "Wait... I recognize you. Aren't you the guy who was recorded talking about rigging the brackets at a Tournament?"

16TONS: "Yes, Mien Fuhrer!"

WB: "I fuckin love this guy! You're hired full time. I don't know why we didn't do it sooner! DISMISSED!"

...

WB: "I think today has been pretty productive. Do you need anything from me before I
go back to cranking out superhero movies?"

NRS General: "Well, we would like to divert resources to taking care of some issues that have been pissing
off our fanbase before it bites us in the ass and costs us the war."
"If I may be so bold: Netcode, gameplay balance, clone not functioning properly and worthless features that no one cares about should be addressed. There is more to a game than looks, Mien..."

WB: "Hold on! What kind of company do you think I'm trying to run?
We all know that people are buying these games mainly because of nostalgia. MK is the DBZ of video games.
Everyone knows about MK and talks about it after all these years. It's a guaranteed sell!"

NRS General: "But DBZ has it's own video game series, sir..."

WB: "And ours is better! We improve the graphics and add new characters. Not to mention an immersive, confusing story based around
time travel. What do they do?"

NRS General: "..."

WB: "Good Evening General! And don't let me find you slacking off in your duties. GAME OF THE YEAR!"

And this is exactly why I made the above post. lol
Nice to see that somebody understands my point of view.

Regarding the "nastiness " of TYM community, I don't see your point really. It's no different to the bitchiness on various Pop Music discussion forums where people will go at it if they even implied something negative about their fave. Take that as you will.

Regarding the "large roster ", don't be ridiculous. Mortal Kombat thrives on its casual audience and it wouldn't have anywhere near those sales if they released the game in installments like Killer Instinct. KI was able to do releases like that because it was a barely known, revived property that not many people knew or remembered. MK does not have that luxury since it is a Pop Culture icon (even Street Fighter and, the not-as-big-but-still-big-enough, Tekken aren't releasing "5 characters instead of a large roster"). People expect more and there definitely would have been dismissal from a large percentage of the audience (both casual and hardcore) if the game was "Free to Start" with just Scorpion followed by a season 1 of Sub-Zero, Cassie Cage, Raiden, Kotal Kahn, and Ferra/Torr for about a year. Plus, it would fuck up story mode as it were.

Besides, it's not even just the casuals who wouldn't waste coin on this game if their faves aren't in and looking at KI's release of seasons, it'll be over drawn and over long.

Tl;Dr of part 2: Not enough profit in releasing only "5 characters" per season and the hype would be dead anyways by them slowly filling up the roster. Why bother with1/8th of a game when you can have 3/4ths?
