So I've been playing Spectral lately and I think it's decent. MoS overshadows it so you should probably just use Spectral for fun.

A good thing they changed for hover is that the recovery frames were greatly lowered. It used to be 24 recovery frames now it's like <14? Makes hover a lot less punishable to just throw out here and there. Soul Charge buffs are appreciated, but weren't truly necessary.

The big thing is that Spectral is no longer that meter reliant for combos. He can now do 30-35% or something meterless, which is fantastic and makes his punishes much better.

In terms of game-plan, I feel that Spectral has alright pressure with hover cancels into air attacks (even though every air attack canceled into any other air attack has a gap), but I feel like with Spectral, you should be more patient with your playstyle. Hover makes it easy to deal with a lot of zoning and you can do air teleport into a full combo to punish projectiles. You also have your d3 low stomp for a meaty 8% low that is -1 on block. So a very very simple strategy would be to use low stomp to force opponents to jump or do projectiles, which you can full combo punish if you have meter for about 30 something % and punish with 15-20% meterless. If you end combos in Soul Charge you get a free hover and thus a free -1 low stomp

I'll definitely be labbing Spectral for a while in the next couple of days. I see potential here and opportunities for mad Spectral Tech (the words you thought didn't exist).

Nah I've done that before. It happened when I was first using Spectral before or around Jason release. Ermac gained a super jump, fast movement and could move while doing tele lift. The last part I didn't get in camera but the other part is on my channel. But yeah its a glitch. Error macro lol

It seems to be status quo here that people are happy with Ermac being a good character in a game that has great characters.

I dont have a problem with that oppinion. Its fine being a good characters and not a great one.
It is still sad to see your fav character drop in power patch after patch. Especially if the best variation is not the one you prefer. So being upset about it is a legit thing. Seeing buffs for ppls like QC make things even worse on the getting upset part.

On the bright side... they are a couple of chars/variations that got a farther end of the stick.
And... we got 1 frame on TKP. :p

Check this out, fellas: Go into training mode, MOS variant, do disappear, then do ex anything else besides ex teleport. buggy...

Also, how'd you do that Spectral glitch? PM me the deeds lol.

spectral still seems like a variation that will not see play.
Master of souls is still getting 40% on any normal bnb that doesnt start with naked soul ball
soul ball is still a way better neutral tool then what mystic and spectral have
spectral still has gaps on block when going into ascension. There is also no reason to ever block low against spectral flight pressure. Sure they can do a ground pound to hit you low but he is only +2 on hit... Not enough frames to keep the pressure going.

Ermac is still a 1 character variation in this game.

being just a good character in this game isn't enough anymore IMO. He isn't bad, that is not what I am saying.... Just compared to the top 10 he has way less options then they do in most situations and his pressure is not as constant as their's.

I made a lil vid on that bug. It affects all 3 of his costumes. I'm unsure if his hurtbox disappears during this bug though. I'll try and test it myself. EDIT Doesn't seem like it.

Looking at aftershock, what if Spectral got an ex version of ground pound that was a full screen low launcher? Could it open up some possibilities?
Spectral is so weak that maybe even the regular version should launch and ex in mystic and mos.

Its an idea but honestly it would feel kinda foreign to the character because what he lacks is not a means to launch the opponent, he has that barless and pretty safe, i still think the only thing Spectral and Mystic need is a fireball they dont even need to change the animation or anything.. it just needs to not bind thats all

Just picked up (MOS) Ermac about a day or two ago after going on a very discouraging losing streak with my normal main...and idk what the hell the problem is lol I have practiced learning him for like 2 days now and I am still getting mopped , its like I am getting worse at this game now for some reason :/

Anyone willing to help me out sometime? Have any tips? General Strategies for this variation? I know I shouldn't expect to be great with a character I just started using but idk I just haven't been doing so hot lately lol

As you picked him up just 2 days ago i suggest you read throw the sticky threads and the matchup thread. Lots of informations there.
The threads are cleaned up mostly so it should be a good read for someone who wants to get into Ermac and is looking for infos.

Dont get me wrong... dont want to be a dick and tell you to search for yourself cuz the answers you seek are probably already here...
But its hard to tell you something more specific without more specific questions or knowing with what exactly you are struggling etcetc.

Specifically, my main issue seems to be opening people up. I know when somebody is pressuring me I can d3 then go into either the b3 or f4 into soul ball and work from there but I seem to have issues actually pulling it off, I can do it all just fine in practice but struggle in actual matches for some reason. So yeah, I think my main issue is actually getting my offense going.

Although not sure if anyone else is thinking so but is Spectral Ermac's corner game really good or is it just a gimmick no one is stopping me from utiliIng. Using the b12 or f21 or f4 or 22 really any starterxxlevitate 2,3,d3 / d3 / 3,4,d3 / 3,4,db2 / 2, d3 / 2,3,4,exdb2 into ender/

It has good overhead low mix up potential. But that low stomp leaves you susceptible to armored attacks. It's an easy hit confirm from levitating attacks. Instilling fear in opponents with levitating 2 wait 3,4. Or 2,3,4 and then 2,3,4, teleport combos to close out the round have been pretty fruitful as well.

Not sure if it's something you've been doing. However corpse hopping with bf2 has been really cool too.

Oh yea this is something that is know. There are different ways to do them though.
Which ways have you just discovered ?
