General/Other - Sub-Zero Time to go to the lab with Cryo and Unbrekable

Not sure how I feel about the kombo ending in the ice daggers being a reset but I'm happy for you guys! I would always loke poke brain dead sub zeros after this... Not anymore I guess... Lol

Ok I'm rewatching it now, it's a cancel, I got a bit hyped there. BUT you can cancel into regular Iceball (they cancel into regular hammer during the stream which is slower and it works... unless that one was buffed to be faster maybe?). So still plenty of potential.

The weird part is they mentioned you have to EX the iceball, but the regular hammer clearly connects so either iceball connects or hammer is now much faster.

Ok, the regular hammer was buffed into 31 frames, so I'm thinking maybe regular iceball only connects on the corner after F42GRAB? The Hammer at 31 frames is connecting for sure, will need to see how the Iceball works in those scenarios.

F12 according to the notes got increased cancel, so I'm guessing you can now use Iceball and Hammer from it instead of F122.

On Unbreakable the damage buff of the icebomb removes the aura, but I think it will help with Unbreakable overall damage given how you can use the EX Aura in the middle of a combo, then sacrifice it to make your bomb more damaging (in adition of the damage you get from having a combo starter into aura into another combo starter).

  • Slightly normalized how far some characters get pushed back on stumble block animations
Sorry for triple posting but I wonder if this means B33Iceball either connects or doesn't connect on everyone. Or it's just on block animations? I know the problem with B33 is how far it sends males and females, making the iceball travel enough frames to not connect against males.

Sub-Zero looks so OP in the patch. I'm probably gonna pick up Cryo - that shit looks fun.

I hope we don't see any nerfs because they overdid it.

I don't think they overdid it as much as it looks on paper, they nerfed Cold Blooded damage a lot so the damage won't be as crazy. And Unbreakable definitely needed its buffs.

i hate there is no change to b33. Cant be greedy tho, not with these changes!

The opponent building meter can still be a problem though. Let's see if they changed the parry.
Ok...fill me in Papi. I'm hype for the Aura changes, but did they reduce the recovery frames on parry?

If they didn't, UB will still remain useless, imo.

No change on the parry. He has the frost bomb now though.

EX Aura can be used in combos now (like B12 xx EX Aura B12 ... blah blah). I think regular Aura might be to do that too.

TBH those are not the buffs I would have given Unbreakable, but I'm going to wait and test before I judge.

Yeah....those are nice and all but the parry needs adjustments (less recovery, just like Kitana's).

This is a step in the right direction but it's not enough.

For anyone curious, the reason why F42ThrowxxHammer combos and meterless Ice Ball doesn't despite both being active on the 31st frame is because of travelling frames. The 31st frame of Ice Ball will only hit point blank, F42Throw leaves you at roughly sweep distance and needs a couple more frames to reach, by which time, the hitstun is finished. Hammer's hitbox has more than enough reach to cover that regardless.
