I guess I play Necromancer now.. PSN: ArmedCalf
I was just reading through that long af thread about the best MKX players and I notice a lot of people stating Shinnok is broken. We all know about Bone Shaper because at the moment it is a topic of discussion. I wanna know what you folks think of this variation. I have mained this variation since day 1 -- all the way back when he was bad. I've learned what to do against every character and I've learned how to combo off of every stolen special. I've put the work and the time in and I like to think I'm doing okay, but I wanna know if I'm playing a braindead variation. Is that a contributing factor to any success? This seems like the place to ask such a thing!

On offense, a bit
On defense, a bit

In general, yea pretty much.

Not Sonya level of braindead but you aren't going to need a degree in rocket science to scrub out a win with him after playing him a couple of minutes.

Your opinions all suck, in my correct opinion.
Who cares how another character plays. You probably don't know as much as the player of the character themselves.
Play the game.

To me, I don't care if a character is considered brain dead or "skillful" or whatever other label the crowd wants to label them, it's just arbitrary opinions. I play character I like and have fun with. Boneshaper Shinnok was the first character + variation I learned and been using since launch. I dabbled with Scorpion until he was nerfed to the ground unnecessarily, then went back to Shinnok. He got over buffed and the rest is history. Just play who you like to play and don't pay attention to the noise.

What a day. What a lovely day.
Braindead is a bit extreme (granted I've used it when I'm salty). I prefer to think of him as being a bit on the auto-pilot side when it comes to his offense though.

By braindead do you mean flowchart? I guess a little but I dunno, it takes skill to win with anyone. You can have crazy good tech, you still need to outplay an opponent. Who gives a shit what people think of your character, play who you love.

Also if there's any truly braindead variation in this game, it's Covert Ops.

As a day 1 Shinnok player myself (started BS then went imposter) it IS NOT brain dead. Only a few MUs grant him a full combo with F4, stolen move. Like Scorpion and Quan for examples. Moat others need to be opened up and Hell Sparked to vortex. So I say no.
