Only nimble has multiple BnBs only it can do.
Noxious can do 34~gas~run~F412
I find reptile to be very unique in that combos are not important to him. His whole game is based around 15%-25% damage attacks based on speed and mixup... kind of "pesty." Just keep up the pressure and use your meter for defense. You have to hit your opponent a lot more than they hit you to win as reptile cause his damage limits but he has all the tools to do it. If you worry about combo damage, you're not focusing as much on your follow up attack and you might not get that next hit in. Always have a b2, b33, or f412 on deck ready to go. Just my opinion.

Yeah I hear that pretty often xD

Mostly MU experience is in my favor. I don't know how many euros play Reptile. Maybe a few :D
Learnt alot from the match tho & I'm gonna try him out a bit more than I have before. I maimed him in MK9 so I at least owe him some sort of loyalty.

Yea same here. I never dropped reptile, but i didn´t play him as main. Since the last patch i do play him again as my 1. main character :

What nooo. Reptile can do a lot of damage and his wall carry is pretty good in nimble. He has some really good frame traps and pretty much every starter leads to 30%+ combos or setups. In the corner he gets 46% or more for 1 bar.

I think the access to viable damage opportunities in Nimble keeps it better than Noxious still, tbh. That, and basilisk has uses outside of combos in some matchups. The stupid good wall carry is kewl too.

Nimble definitely has the better combo and damage potential, but that "pesty" sort of rushdown with Noxious is still way too much fun. MilkySituation made it as far as he did at Evo with Noxious, so it's not without it's own merits.

At the very least, the gas makes it almost impossible to get perfected. That's got to count for something, right? :D

Hey guys not a new reptile player but I have an issue. So my friend plays kung lao (buzzsaw) and he hes pretty decent I dont have a problem with the matchup. Avoid buzzsaw hat instead of blocking. D1 or uppercut teleports etc. the problem is and this is with any character he plays he jumps a lot...I mean a lot and I cant seem to punish him consistently for it and its becoming annoying because thats how hes taking games on me. He'll knock me down jump over me which I know is just a corpse hop but then he does it like 2+ more times before I can get up and he already has the advantage on me. I've tried delayed wakeup which gives him like 2 more times to jump over me. Point is he just keeps jumping and jumping is there a more consistent way to punish him. Ive tried D1 and uppercut and ive tried ex db2 and the hitbox for just isnt high/big no confirm a hit it just whiffs which leaves me open for a free punish plus wasted meter. Reptile's ex db2 seems even worse in the corner when he jumps for some reason. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Have you tried using elbow dash or slide on wake up, as a way to get out the pressure?

I assume he is jump-punching you during these corpse hops. If so, you should def be using d3 after blocking it. Very quick start-up and gives you some space. I would immediately follow-up the d3 with b3,4. It doesn't combo, so you have to wait thru recovery of d3, but the b3,4 is pretty safe when blocked, will punish him if he jumps again on you, and also give you room to work with. And hey, it does 16% damage. Also, another thing you could try is b2 him after blocking his jump-punch. It is 11 frames but reptile scoots back a bit so it takes the opponent's attack longer to hit. The opponent should be close enough for it to hit and may take him by surprise. I am not sure about this tactic as much as the first, but I think it would also be worth a try.

Njp

@RM Cossner Ill try. I think he might just hit me with that if I ever get to NJP him but ill def try it out.

@OzzFoxx aiight Ill try it too. Sounds like a good option I'll try and record some matches and see if you guys have any insight or if Im not using a better wakeup or something of that nature.

Dartharma does that cross up thing on me all the time. It looks like njp wont land but it actually does beat him most of the time.
How do you execute the NJP after Elbow Dash? I can't do it.
After the elbow dash, hold upwards and as soon as you see the jump press 12. Just dont press up before the elbow dash comes out.

This is awesome. Reptile, 1-meter midscreen 43%? Has this been around and I've been missing it? This might make me change from nimble to noxious. I've traditionally loved playing reptile cause his balance of low damage but great mix-up/confirms for a unique stick-and-move style. Adding a high-damage combo off cross-up really extends his options and opens up B3, 4.

Uh.. 34 xx noxious -> f412 xx ed -> njp -> f41 -> f412 xx slide is better and is meterless.

Why do you guys keep saying reptile has low damage?

Actually, with the JIP you can get a bnb 40% meterless (jip, 34~noxious, f412~reptilian dash, njp, 21, run~f412~slide), or higher with F41 instead of 21, so it's not worth to waste a bar for 3% unless it's gonna kill.

EDIT: Cossner beat me to it.

PS: you could also optimize the 1 bar combo with:

jip, 34~noxious, f412~reptilian dash, njp, 21, f21 1+3 mb, f412~slide (44%)

But it is still a waste of a bar for not much additional damage.

In fact, in general, it's better not to use meter mid combos. Unless it is as an armored combo starter (ex-swipe) or to activate nimble after f412. Otherwise, it is really not worth damage-wise.

Reptille's meter is so hard to build that it is an extremely precious asset that you have to use wisely. I would keep it for things like armor, breakers, setups with ex slow forceballs, corner carry with ex-nimble combo, etc.. things that can really make a difference turning the momentum to our favor.

edit: also worth a bar to use it on b2 or f21 combos.

I posted this before but in case you missed it this is my favorite meterless combo with Noxious Reptile, 38% with or without JIP and is practical as hell, online too.
