Dark Souls 3 has been announced and scheduled to be released some time early next year (2016). I'm a huge Souls fan, and I'm super hyped for this game.

Most of the current info on the game is in these videos, so I encourage all of you to watch them!

Who is hyped for the next installment of the Souls series!?

Pretty excited for this. As much as I smash my Xbox One with a hammer, it seems unable to play Bloodborne. So I've kind of been starved for this.

I was pretty disappointed with Dark Souls 2. I didn't like the immediate fast travel. I didn't like how every other boss fight seemed to be a 1v3.

Dark Souls 2 felt -and it's kind of a weird term to describe a game- but "video-gamey". Whereas DS1 made me immediately forget I was in a game at all. I'm hoping they steer the series back in the direction of the first game.

DS2 was made by a different company. DS1 and bloodborne were made by the original creators.

Was going to make this thread yesterday actually but forgot.

Huge fan of Demon and Dark Souls. I feel like it's being forgotten by a lot of people due to the Fallout hype but I'm more excited for this game to be honest.

Hmm, I still haven't played DS2 so I'm behind here.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the games, but believe it or not, I played Demon and Dark Souls going die-by-die with a buddy, but he moved town so the "ritual" was gone. Not that I wouldn't enjoy the (I guess soon not to be) new game, just hasn't been a priority amongst the field of things I want to play through.

Maybe I should shuffle Dark Souls 2 up a rung or two on the ol playlist tho

How good is bloodborne? Compared to DkS1 and DkS2?
bloodborne is pretty good but I got more mileage out DkS1&2. Also the weapon selection is limited compared to ds1@2. IMHO nothing beats DS1. I wish they would release it on ps4 because someone stole my PS3!!! smh

Can not really compare the two. They have completely different game mechanices.

I will say the multiplayer is vastly stripped down in Bloodborne. If you enjoyed the pvp and coop aspects of DS (DS2 especially) you will not find that in Bloodborne.

Also, the upgrading materials system is stripped down.

Bloodborne, in a lot of ways, is more simple than DS1 and 2. With that said, the gameplay is different enough that the game is still super challenging. For example, there are no shields in the game at all. Excellent parry and riposte techniques are required.

For reference, I think Bloodborne is most similar to Demon's Souls.

I've nearly beaten the first game and then I'll run through NG+ and DS2. Sometimes it can get pretty frustrating, but it never makes me salty like some other games. A first time blind let's play is pretty damn special.

Good I'm hyped for ds3. I really hope it's more like ds1 / demon souls; ds2 was good but much to linear and the lore was somehow lacking. Also it felt a bit casual / easy mode compaired to demon souls and even ds1. But thats maybe just the experience from playing ds1 like five times.

Less customization and variety overall.

Story is P good but maybe the weakest of the series (depending on how you feel about Dark Souls 2)

Weapons are a lot of fun. Probably the game's best aspect

Boss fights are good. Some great ones but they are all solid for the most part. Unlike Dks2

I don't feel like there is as much replayability. Probably due to the lack of weapons and armor. Never felt the need to make more than 2 characters. No matter what you put your points in the gameplay is going to be almost the same, since using mostly arcane or bloodtinge is both not really viable and fairly linear (which imo makes them boring)

Overall imo it's the weakest of the series. But that's not saying too much when you are talking about souls games. I still would play it over P much everything else

We should be getting some news on how the game plays soon since some community members were invited to play the game. Honestly I just hope the covenant system is like DKS1/2 so it gives the game more life in the long run.
