NRS Please Fix Input Shortcuts

Konqrr

MK11 Kabal = MK9 Kitana
I didn't want to make a new thread because all my threads get shitty replies but I felt like this needed to be brought up again.

You can clearly see that I'm pressing 1 and 2 repeatedly and I'll randomly get an interactable. This is a huge issue that can cost you the match. Some people might say "Just turn Input Shortcuts off" ok then what's the point of Input Shortcuts then? If I have them off I can't option select moves into specials on hit or into strings on whiff which is a big part of the knockdown game. And as mentioned in the old thread it might screw up other inputs that people use. This could hurt tournament players who play with shortcuts on (like myself) and don't know about this glitch, and I know A LOT of players who are unaware of this. Not to mention that the default setting for Input Shortcuts is set to ON. I'm surprised this hasn't been fixed yet when EVO is right around the corner.

@RiBBz22's video with Cassie Cage b212d1+2:
This is infinitely worse because it happens 100% of the time making these strings completely useless when near an interactable.

And listen, before you try to blow us up and say "RiBBz/Raptor you can turn input shortcuts off in the controller settings"....yes this is true, and it fixes the issues with with the interactables, but it is totally not viable for most people because it also reduces directional precision requirements which kills the ability to perform instant air shortcuts for back/forward special inputs like Cassie'e air gunshot.

Being forced to pick between being able to perform a BNB by an interactable and being able to execute a special in the air is a pretty crappy set of options.

@Slips @colt (I realize you were already tagged in the previous thread but please take a look at this again.)
I've found a way to prevent this with Kitana's 21 string. I quickly press and release each button so i am not ever pressing both at the same time. Maybe it works for other characters?

I have a big issue with 3+4 coming out instead of b34, no idea why it happens. If only i could turn off 3+4 :(
Just tested this and 1+3 too...that sucks lol. So not only does this happen with 1+2, it happens with 3+4 and 1+3 too so you'll randomly get stance switch or throw.

happens sooo often with takeda
when you have ex kunais on the ground (which you can delay by holding 1) and go for a f3 for pressure, a throw comes out a lot of times -.-

That's true you can hit the buttons separately, but you shouldn't have to make a conscience effort, mid combo, in the heat of the moment to think, 'I better make sure I don't graze 2 and 1 too close together'. It's hard enough to do some of these combos, this shouldn't be another thing we have to think about while doing them.

I'm all for learning curves, but this is more of an inconvenience than a skill that is intended to be mastered.

Get over here!

Slips you used to work at NRS right? Don't you have inside contacts? Or just yell at 16 Bit about it until he brings it to their attention lol

Normalize grab immunity.
I can only think of two ways this gets fixed. Either NRS puts in options to turn off which shortcuts we want (Why this isn't a thing I have no clue. Please let me configure the game how I want to play.)

Or NRS codes in a whole new input system because it is filled with unwanted things happening. We got overlapping commands (which I thought wasn't a thing anymore in 2015.), OSes, and I personally hate holding down for delay. I'll hold down too soon for my wakeup attack and now I can't do it plus my opponent is waiting for me. Really wish it used the punch and kick buttons. Heck give flip stance an actual purpose.

Glad to see I'm not the only one getting accidental throws or bad normals when I do want to throw.

Imput shorcuts are a joke. I sometimes get xrays because Im doing imputs to fast and doing ex moves in the combos in the corner.

Sub Zero main, I block low, then go into b12 to punish, and a lot of times I'll get db1 frost bomb instead of my string. Feels good man.

Ha being a QA guy doesn't pull too much weight. Most QA employees in the gaming industry in general don't know any more than a typical gamer. We as competitive players hate this stuff, but NRS usually has much bigger fish to fry than to pull one of their core programmers to search deep within the code for hours, find the code sequence to see if it'll work right, upload the build, and then hope it'll work right without messing up vital mechanics of the game. If you think this is tedious for us to do combos, imagine how tedious it is to try and correct the code that's already working correctly for the most part.

They already know about it I'm sure and are certainly capable of fixing it, it's just a matter of if it's really worth it. They're constantly working on new content and probably already started the next game. I'd love for this to be fixed, all of us would. But being behind the curtain I empathize with them more now than I used to. Call me an NRS fanboy, but I'm just calling it how it is.

I definitely saw Lars trigger this by mistake during ESL Finals.
This stuff happens at every tournament and it's a shame for the players that it happens to. It's going to suck for whoever experiences it at EVO. A lot of money is on the line at these tournaments and it sucks when you make the right read and lose because of a faulty game mechanic. When it first happened to me at Combo Breaker in my head I was like that was bullshit and even NRS was there and saw it happen. I'm hoping that they are working on a fix for this, but if not then we'll just have to "deal with it".

I have trouble with Kotal's b1 , 2 , 2, Ex stone/sword
I think I'm just an idiot but when I'm in a match it almost never comes out unless I'm going nuts with the input (in some cases the ex move comes out too early)

So... Takeda's EXKunai (hold 1), b2 used to be a problem, right? It seems to be gone. Cassie is still screwed, though.

I tried to throw a yo-yo away. It was impossible.

It hasn't. I was playing around with that today and if you hold the kunai and press b2 or 2, you will interact with the interactable if you're near one. Doesn't matter the delay you have when hitting 2 either. It won't do this, however, if you hold 1 normally (no kunai out) and press 2

I can't get it to happen. Are you keepin b held after doing the Kunai?

I don't think so but I'm not sure if I am, I'm not at home right now to see if that is what is causing it to do that for me.

Are you saying that holding b after the kunai motion to start the b2 could be causing it?
