Shoot them. Shoot them all.
Either I am less picky when it comes to commentating or the people who commentate have up'ed their games.

For me it's all about the duo. I tend to like a very professional commentator paired with a hype/humorous type.

UltraDavid paired with anyone seems to work...credit to David's skill, prescense, soothing demeanor, and professionalism.

I really liked the duo of @Pig Of The Hut and @DarthArma (as long as they dont get distracted while a match is happening). Love pigs voice and arma is naturally charismatic with a great voice as well.

I thought @Hollywood DMS did a great job at MWC (the midwest tourny). He truly has his finger on the pulse of TYM, knows everyones stories etc., and is CURRENT with info regarding the meta/game. I just love it when he corrects people spouting misinformation or bias bs. Also, he can be quite funny at times, "Who is he playing? Oh! Sonya! Awww, mama blade". Lol

Brady is actually incredible at commentating but he can be unbearable when A.) a subzero player is currently up or B.)he is mad, sad, emo.

@GGA 16 Bit is a very diverse commentator. He can be MLG professional as well as hype/crazy/fun. Plus his knowledge about the scene and game are on point. Plus Kitana. ;)

TLDR; UltraDavid paired with any of these gentleman.

Resolution through knowledge and resolve.
My major criteria for good commentary be that the commentator is knowledgeable enough to recognize opportunities as they happen to make the viewing audience aware before they are missed or taken advantage of, but don't try to explain things too thoroughly because we get it. Also, commentators can have favorite players and styles, but not to the point of bias. Everyone listed in this thread lives up to this criteria, so any of them would be fine. If they play in the tourney, there needs to be a third commentator and they need to make a cohesive switch. Its unprofessional to have someone just jump in without having been prepared and it especially sucks when we have to wait until he is found, has to be asked, agrees, then painstakingly and awkwardly gets mic'ed up while we all listen to irrelevant talk or wait through dead air.

Hard to choose, many great commentators.

Also, i must be the only person who enjoy Godspeed apparently, i really like his commentaries and i don't get all the hate, i think he and Brian do a great job on ESL.

Things are really subjective though, i for one don't dig Arma's on the mic too much, his voice kinda annoys me, although he knows the game.

To each his own.

Aris, Arma, Bit, Brady and David are all great choices.
Just don't let Michealangelo commentate, too many inside jokes IMO.

STB Shujinkydink

Burning down in flames for kicks
He plays MKX like everyday. And you didn't even mention mk so I will also talk about his general FG knowledge which he can definitely talk a lot about in depth. If anything from the players in the poll aris and tom brady have the longest history in fighting games. If we are talking about gameplay stuff 16 bit, tom brady and aris are definitely the most knowledgable and experienced from that list.
Yeah he just doesn't know mkx specifics though. His commentary at combo breaker was bland and uninformative. Just him trying to be funny the whole tIme. Not a fan

Pig Of The Hut

Day 0 Phenomenal Dr. Fate and Darkseid player
Let me tell you guys something

Evo is our Super Bowl, there are 1200 MKX participants. I strongly feel the commentators that get chosen

1. Know near every player
2. Backgrounds
3. Tournament history
4. their story
5. Game knowledge
6. Energetic and positive about the matches and game
7. Not emo
8. Actually play the game too at a high level or at least understand it and able to communicate it
9. Uses No inside jokes

I'd be honored but I feel the #1 choice is Gga 16 bit. If you're not up there and able to tell the narrative and story then what are you even there for?

I love and know football, however when the starting and back up running back go down in game due to injury and the 4 th string comes in and dominates the game......it's at this moment I appreciate costas and collinsworth more than Dennis miller and kornheiser

My 2 cents

Maybe I'll have something to say ... Probably not
I just don't see what's wrong with looking professional. All sports commentators wear suits.
There's nothing wrong with it and if anything should be preferred at this point. Especially with the recent attention Kbrad has brought to the FGC we could have a lot more eyes on us at Evo than usual this year so it is best if we all look very put together and respectable etc..

And just a dumb thought I had earlier.
7. Not emo
I don't like to talk much anyways lol.

Pig is really good as long as he stays away from wanting to talk about the next character community he wants to blow up or whoever is currently being rebeloed. Him & David seem like the best picks as much as I prefer Aris/UD duo.

Off topic, what attention has Kbrad brought to the FGC? (I ask because I'm a fan of his Cammy)
