Been playing fo3 again to pass time until fo4.

So how did you guys discover the series?

For me it was random. just happened to see a used copy at gamestop for 40 I think. I liked the box art and read the back, so I thought it was a reasonable price and if I didn't like it no big loss. I finished the game just before the first DLC came out on PSN.

Was starting to get into rpg games like Oblivion, so I started searching for other games and came across Fallout 3. Never regretted trying it since

Got Oblivion for my birthday back in 2005, and have been following Bethesda's releases ever since. :D

I couldn't bring myself to start up another game in FO3 for the five millionth time, so I finally decided to start playing new vegas, which I've never played before but picked up on a steam sale a year or so ago.

I just saw the very first trailer for it and liked how it looked. Decided to just buy it, never thought I'd fall in love with the series like this. Fallout 3 became one of my favourite games ever.
When I played on 360, I think it was my freshman year in high school, and I went to gamestop for a game. I saw this game on the shelf with an amazing and serious cover, knew nothing about it and it sounded like a great deal according to what was on the box. Think it was on sale for $20 dollars. So I bought it. Needless to say, I fell in love and got addicted to the series lol.

Ya I started watching what other games Bethesda does too. I only played fo3 once but got over 300 hours in. new Vegas was fun, but I missed having subway tunnels to explore.

Apparently Skills aren't in the game anymore. You also don't start off with a base of 5 in each SPECIAL.

This news makes me want to play FO1+2 even more.

Yeah it's gonna be a skill tree based system as opposed to points, similar to Skyrim. I don't like this actually. What's gonna happen to skill books? :(

EDIT: You don't start off with 5 base special wutttt :( :( :(

Skyrim's skill system was a skill tree and skill points, I can't imagine they would chose to do just a skill tree. I like the way skill points work in elder scrolls more than fallout though, feels more natural to just get better at something when you do it more.

Also the thing about no skill menu on the pipboy, there was also no misc or ammo menu in the inventory tab, but the player just scrolled to the right and they appeared, so maybe that's how it is for the skill menu too.

I picked up Fallout 1 and continued getting them as they have been released ever since...

I got oblivion when it came out b/c I have always loved RPG games (western rpgs) and after that I decided that it was awesome and I that I should check out this "bethesda" company...

turns out, they rock. haha

They have their misses though too; Rage was disappointing, very short, and I haven't really cared much for Evil Within.

Yeah Bethesda is a bit hit or miss with their publishing, but they're pretty consistent with the games that they develop themselves. Looks like they got a ton of cool stuff coming up though, I still reckon their conference was the highlight of e3. :p

You can get into romantic relationships with human companions regardless of gender
Also looks like you can join factions, like in new vegas

Also pretty much confirmation that there are no skills :( But what they are doing has the potential to be really interesting. imo its cooler picking perks each level than just ticking up numbers in a skill, but I really wonder how this will work in the game compared to previous fallouts (that being said, it looks like what they're doing is gonna allow you to have a more specific playstyle right off the bat than either FO3 or new vegas).
