The DLC Skins Rant

I said it in the patch thread but I absolutely hate these fucking skins. Laziest costumes... Ever. Just saying. I honestly do not plan to buy anything that did not come out with the Kombat Pack, and even some of THOSE skins aren't worthy of being DLC. MK2 Noob/Smoke looked better than this shit, even with the weird patched leather on their suits.

Infrared Scorpion needs to not exist, looks like KI Cinder but as an absolute fucking eyesore.

What's ridiculous is the character that are getting new skins. I love Scorpion as much as the next guy, but he already had access to 4 skins before DLC. For the love of god show some love the the characters with only 1-2 skins.

i Said this somewhere, cant remember, but this is actually offensive on so many lvls. They have the nerve to take everyones money and then go, hey guys look a the awesome skins we made for everyone, FOR FREE, you like them, hm? good shit.... As a 3d Modeler myself this shit screams lazyness and disrespect for your customers... i said this on the predator compatibility patch thread and ill say it here to. They couldv very well kept the Sub Zero skin look and gave scorpion the Skull mask WHISH HE HAD, in UMK3, so if this skins are representative of that game, holy freaking god this is worse than i thought... Commando johnny just made me laught, i have no clue wtf is going on with that skin (Arnold is that, not you?) im ok with Jax i guess, its the lesser of all the other evils.. But infrared Scorpion ohhhh scorpion you just took the cake and ate it to, didnt you. This infrared skin is the kick in the balls all Kombat pack owners needed to wake up to this BS that is the Kombat Pack...

Just want to say this is why I NEVER buy season pass stuff. They stay available to purchase long after everything is released. So why give my money to someone who might fuck it up. Especially when we've seen how NRS handles skins. 5 main characters get 10 skins. You have no clue what it's going to look like and now infrared scorpion is a thing. Cause you know Scorpion just had to fit in the Predator theme somehow.

One way to make this even a lttle ok. Johnny and Jax better do the that glorious handshake for the intro. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Lol I love how everyone refers to the mk1 costumes as "play doh" it's the first thing that came to my mind also. I think if they were to go with a more dark and gritty style on their costumes it would look ok. These mk1 costumes with bright colors and dark backgrounds(stages) makes it look awful/kiddish. Mk9 was a more vibrant color game therefore the mk1 costumes didn't look so out of place. But idk that's just my thought on the mk1 costumes.

Oh how the guys at NRS must be laughting... look at all the money we made on this effortless and resourceless cost efficient skins we are giving our beloved community/clients, im sure ppl will be happy with the amount of effort we put into this skins...

more kitana costumes please and at least one tanya alternate.. i have money to throw at you NRS!!!!

I'm disappointed in the skins for the game as well (I do like tournament Reptile though). On a sidenote, I am not a big fan of this "family feud" character roster either. They should make skins for all of the characters (to my knowledge Goro does not have any).

DLC characters dont get to have skins, because, reasons...

where DA FUQ are my Kung Jin alts? not sure what they would be, but NRS should come up with something. Perhaps a skin that includes buttless chaps?

I'm just annoyed DLC characters only get 1 skin. They should have 2 like everyone else.

The only instance i can remember a DLC character getting a skin was Zod and it wasnt a good faith skin it the Superman promotion Skin for him due to the movie...

I remember interviews for MK9 saying DLC would have two skins like the rest, and remember Skarlet's and Kenshi's alts that were in game, incomplete I think, but were there nevertheless, but they never came to the hands of the players, and here we are, 2 after and still having only 1 costume to choose with the characters downloaded. I guess they use that time to make the other DLC skins they actually sell and make money out of, but still, I believe Jason and Tanya should've come with 2 skins.

I'm almost 100% certain that NRS games are the only FGs that don't have real alternate colors. This needs to be addressed. Everyone is tired of seeing the same shit. Are alternate colors legitimately difficult to make?

I signed in today to find a Takeda damage nerf, an infrared scorpion costume, and an alternate costume of Jax that magically changed him into a completely different person-- which is ok I guess since we all look the same anyway-- give or take a couple metal arms.. Oh! And of course rather than lean towards consistency, instead of seeing Arnold Schwarzanager, I have to play against a commando Johnny cage that has the same goddamn face... NRS hit the eject button for me.. I'm gunna take my little bit of free time and cash it in on Arkham Knight. Thankfully Batman DOES NOT disappoint.

When I get home today I intend to put my WEAKASS copy of MKX in the hyperbolic time chamber where it will level up until the day Tremor arrives.

I doubt it considering how SF4 has 22 fuckin colors on their DLC outfits pack. KI has like 9 colors and customization to add pointless accessories on your character and shit.
DoA has a million costumes for everyone and there's details you can change on each one like Glasses,hairstyle, hats/mask/bra on some, panties color (lol).
Other games like Tekken/SC you can pretty much go ham and the character won't even look like the original anymore.

NRS games are the only ones left behind in this aspect. This game is the worst tho, like seriously none of the new characters get DLC skins and Scorpion keeps getting more? Why?
The whole costume pack idea is usually grouping characters together so you can't buy 1 skin only but in other games they have skins for the WHOLE cast (SF4/SFxT) or almost all of them (DoA) not just 3. Especially if it's a theme pack like in SF4, everyone gets summer outfits or animal outfits or 80s disco outfits who gives a fuck don't just give them to 3 godamn characters that get another themed pack later too (Kano and Sonya) -___-

Hell I'll even buy Arcsys style color packs at this point.. just give us something that's not for the characters with 1745237 skins already, fuck..

Dudes. UMVC3 had bad ass alt costumes for so many of their characters. That's how you do it.

To be fair, this is the first time ever in an NRS game where they seem to have at least TRIED to address this. Just look at someone like Takeda. His alternate colors for both his skins are very different. In many cases they still barely change for other characters, but it's better than it used to be, at least. MK9 was awful in this aspect. I hated watching mirror matches where I couldn't tell anyone apart from one another.

You're damn right Batman doesn't disappoint. Well, aside from the Red Hood and Harley Quinn story modes which were terribly short (maybe 15 minutes each).

Also looking forward to Tremor (and his lack of skins).

Infrared Scorpion is already giving me nightmares. Now not only do I have to deal with the shitty online, I now have to deal with that godawful thing they call a skin that will surely give me headache.

The thing is NRs knows any skin for any char will sell but the main MK chars will sell much more. Just good business I guess.

Now where is my Lao klassic skin?

I gotta say that I'm really getting annoyed with the skin situation. As an obsessed, reasonably well-off mortal kombat enthusiast, I must buy anything and everything related to expanding the experience. I have so many skins for every character that when I actually get into a fight, the characters are rarely in their default skin and I start to get confused about who is who. I was fighting Brazillian footballer Liu Kangodhino. He flying-kicked me and I thought my game was bugging out because there was no green trail behind him. I also haphazardly get nailed by Samurai Shinnok cause I'm trying to bait his electric fly.

*This post is meant to be considered 90% humorous and 10% serious. I would put one of those wink/smiley emoticons or something but I feel that adding something to say I'm joking ruins the effect of the joking in the first place. Its not to say I have a strong opinion against emoticon/smiley doo-dads, just that they aren't right for me or my sense of humor. But I don't want to be a troll and just say things that upset people without them understanding the point so I will just add these disclaimers from now on when the occasion calls for it.
