Do You Think NRS Learned Their Lesson? DLC Related...

Will "normalization" happen if it's required?

"So you think this not yet released character will be really good, and if so how badly do you think they will nerf the character you know nothing about? ".......wut?

Just kidding around but i mean how in the world can we even hypothesize about those things without seeing a single frame of her in action?

Okay, so, NRS has a track record of having particularly broken DLC characters in both MK9 and Injustice. It seems that their second DLC character released tends to be really effin' dumb (I wanted to use "OP", but I don't like using that term =P) and Tanya is MKX's upcoming second DLC character.

Does this mean she's GOING to be dumb? Not necessarily. However, if she is, do you think NRS will "normalize" her accordingly without making her shit tier (a la Scorpion from Injustice)? Or do you think she'll go untouched?
You have to consider that NRS is still a business and wants to make a good bit of cash on their DLC's. Therefore I don't see her being bad or normalized if she is OP, unless it's so bad that she "breaks" the game. I also doubt she will be the best DLC character - I believe either Tremor or more than likely, Predator will take that spot.

Finally, I suspect NRS will release between 1 - 2 (possibly quite a few more if Rain and Baraka are made playable) DLC characters after predator and the final one will be comparable to Injustice's Martian Manhunter.

Nothing is wrong with Jason. It's just NRS' track record with their second DLC character and then others that follow, but not all.
Didn't really play MK9 so I can't say. What was really weird about IGAU DLC was not how strong the characters were but how they broke the game mechanics. With the exception of Lobo and Zod they all had really good teleports (compared to Ares slow one and Raven's even slower on in trait). Now there were abuseable teleports (MMH, Zatanna), ones that lead to full combo (Scorp, MMH). Furthermore Zod kinda broke the footsies game with his air charge, trait and IAZB. Like sure they were strong but the fact was they kind of broke how the game was played.
Oh ok

Personally I feel like Tanya is going to be DLC tier Kitana. Just like I think Predator will be DLC tier Reptile, and Tremor will be DLC tier Jax.

This game has a much bigger following than Injustice, and to a medium of people much more accomplished and able to buy in to DLC than the days of MK9 on PS3. I think DLC will keep being made until development starts on the next NRS game, or until the customer (player) base sizeably drops. Therefor, it would be in their best interest to keep the earlier DLC balanced, or at the very least nerf the most recent in time for the upcoming, because there's only so far the power creep can go. And that is assuming that they decide to take this business approach with it, maybe they'll see the new release as an opportunity to grow the competitive scene of the game, and just focus on balancing as best they can.

These would be the sensible approaches anyway. Who freaking knows with NRS. I voted Yes, because at the very least I'm sure they aren't going to be as bad as the last two games forerunners, just going by the overall balance of the cast of MKX, it can be said that they have put more effort towards balancing this time, and also the fact that it would take a seriously blatant outlier to be OP in relation to this cast, whereas in MK9 it was a crapshoot, the OP characters had other OP buddies to blend in with.

Skarlet and lobo andturned out to be Mid to High mid. And Jason is looking the same

Kenshi and Batgurl was top 3

Rain and scorpion turned out to be ass

Freddy and Zod REAL STRONG ZONING CHARACTERS OMG @General M2Dave do you have a chance?

If they go for another season Itll be a surprise imo

I don't get it

MK9:
Skarlett: strong, patched to good
Kenshi: a bit too strong, not broken
Rain: mid - bad
Freddy: strong

Quite a variety here

IGAU:
Lobo: bad (realized to be mid - good)
Scorpion: too strong, patched to mid - bad
Batgirl: strong (realized to be too stronk)
Mmh: too strong

They came ballsy in IGAU indeed

But what's the fuss about? What's wrong with Jason to be concerned about Tanya?
Kenshi is good but not broken? A character that has 20-30% 8-2 and 9-1 matchups, a character that has 70%-80% 7-3 and 6-4 match ups. How is that not broken??? That sounds pretty broken to me

Here's a sneak peak of a half complete Tanya from PC Modders:

This is my billionth life cycle.
I think the way the made Jason is great for a DLC character from a business perspective. When a casual player looks at Jason, they see a character that gets absurd damage with little to no effort, and that seems great to them because casuals don't really dig any deeper than ease of use, damage, and aesthetics. That way NRS can sell a shit-ton of Jasons while it doesn't really effect the hardcore community in any way. Not sure if this was done on purpose, but this was literally the best thing they could have done for their first DLC character release, especially so early on in the game's life, giving casual players a fun new character that seems really good, while not effecting the hardcore competitive scene which has just started to flesh out the game's mechanics and meta.

The real question is. Are they going to learn, and finally give DLC alternate costumes

How some people are missing the point of this thread is beyond me. It's not about just Tanya. It's about whether or not NRS has possibly learned from their past.

I used Tanya as an example because she's the second DLC character in the game and NRS' track record has been the second character is generally very, very good. I'm not speculating frame data or any shit like that, people. Come on.

It's just an "in theory" question. Don't look at it like it's anything other than that. It also applies to the future DLC characters we get as well.
