Sooo, I was planning to rep Mileena at Summer Jam and NEC, but the PS3 version got delayed. Again. Sorry guys. :(

How would you guys feel if we split off into Variation general discussions?

Also, Ravenous mains...I need your help. I am trying to learn this variation (for variety). I know all the tick throw setups, but what are you doing for setups, how are you encorporating b12 1+2 (are you?) and what is your general gameplan.

From what I understand from my limited testing is I want to condition my opponent to block low and start abusing pounce so I can use my pokes, and my strings. 2~low pounce is a tick on block. 21 is a low. I see that as the only true 50/50 in the variation exclusives (sans ex roll mixups which are unversal). HOWEVER, I do see that high pounce is only -7 on block making it quite safe against a lot of the cast.

Am I supposed to be pressuring with strings and mixing on the high pounce at the end to make them respect it then go into low pokes?

Anyone have some ravenous gameplay? I see potential, but im still in the early stages of wrapping my head around the meta.
I'd preferred if we split up into separate discussions.

Digging through this thread to find specific variation info is no bueno.

cant really say much about ravenous, id use ethereal more to be honest.
(ex fade will do something one day and then me and @theGabStandard will be laughing all the way to the bank....*insert soon meme here*)

theres jaxs,radiens,liu kangs and cassies in my scene so i get my shit pushed in for a -7 move, mileena has enough bad minus frames without me adding more haha that on top of the fact that i feel naked without piercings b12 atm i havnt paid much attention to ravenous yet

in mu's when high bounce cant be punished i see your point on potential though,(actually have wrote down in notebook all who can/cant, if that hasnt been posted yet ill post it when get back home)

I didn't get that deep into Ravenous when I was trying it out but the approach I took was to treat it as a variation that maintains much beter meter management than Piercing/Ethereal. Any time I would usually go for an overhead mix-up with ex roll I would replace it with low pounce instead - both hit on crouching opponents and both are unsafe as hell so nothing new there! It meant that I had more meter available for breaking or using ex roll to escape pressure.

In theory spending far more of the match with 1+ bars should also force your opponent to respect the chance of ex roll blowing up their pressure too, limiting their options providing you can show you know how where gaps in strings are etc. This applies to ex roll in all variations, but in ravenous you should be in this situation more often and have less of a reason to blow the bar for a 50/50.

Mileena is awesome!

Cassie's my main, but I consider making the switch full time since I find playing her MUCH MUCH more interesting and actually challenging to win with (dem mind gamez). Maybe it'll work out, maybe it won't. Time will tell :)

You guys have done an amazing work with the threads here.

I made this video for my friend outlining some of her standard combos. Then I realized might as well share it to the world. These are not highest damage or ultra swag but BNB and solid combos. Especially if your just picking piercing up.

 
Mileena fan here since day 1, this site has been great in helping me learn more about the character and so far having a lot of fun with her. Looking forward to posting up some videos and discussing the character further.

Playing the piercing version at the moment and doing pretty well so far, my only real issue is getting in to start combos, punishing is down well but need to just work on overall movement of the character and spacing.

Entering a tournament on the weekend with a 64 player seat so it will be a big one and looking forward to it, planning on taking Mileena as far as I can :)

12 & 123. I had to put the video on hold because I have death in the family & have to travel back home (I'm good, it's my mother & grandmother than I'm worried about. I don't think they're holding up well).

But from 12 & 123, you're +3. If an opponent hits a buttons after them, then you convert them into damage. Telekick included if they want to jump.

This is why I wish she had a real D1 or a faster D3. (I do love her D3 for low profile and slight backward evasion), but yeah, if you make people block a Jump punch, you should pretty much always do 12/123 for the frame pressure and it's easy to hit confirm into Roll.

Also, I found that Standing Sai point blank is very good on block. I dunno if Kung Lao or Raiden can punish with 6f attacks, but I tested against Jacqui and her 7f Jab couldn't punish. So I guess the next step is finding out if she can make her unsafe strings saf(er) with this. EX Sai was safe too, but you can armor through the 2nd one if you're looking for it.

Against Raiden, it can be difficult to frame trap him, but you can do it. You have the exchange in your favor, but it's still an opportunity for him to guess. Kung Lao I haven't really tested yet.

Ok so this is off topic but, after combo breaker. I'm convinced I should have made top 16. My match with Michealangelo was a wild one. I pretty much had him beat but apoarently something of Quan Chis is punishable and I didn't know... And he only came back and beat me because team yomi ran over and started telling him what do.


He looked at me after the match and said..

I shouldn't have won and you have a really good Mileena.

That did happen but I won't use that as an excuse... But on top of that there was a string of quan Chis that I was told later was like -16 and he kept using it and I don't know. Because I've never seen it used before. After I discovered that I feel like that could've been a game changer, since I pulled back from the hit box issues happening here and there. But now I know for next time I face against a Quan Chi.

the f1 wakeup tech is ridiculous. (thanks to Mr Mileena)
you can armor through almost any EX special move after a hard knockdown.
you guys should try it.

after 214 or 3 do f1.
your able to get through D'Vorah's EX Ovipositor , Liu Kang's EX Dragon Kick, Sub Zero's EX Slide, Johnny's EX Shadow Kick, Jacqui's EX Charge Punch.. so on and so forth.

for quicker EX's like Scorpion's EX Takedown, Reptile's EX Slide, and Raiden's EX Electrocute you can do f1~EX ball roll. you will trade armor basically but you will get the launch with the ball roll

the reason why it's so good in my opinion is cause
1. f1 is a combo starter
2. if they delay EX wakeup you can continue the string and they'll still get hit by the second barrage of punches (f12)
3. if your confident enough in your confirm you get a free 12% combo start with f12b4

However, if in Piercing you can end combos with B212+4 and can stuff wakeups with F1 consistently that have around 15f start up or more

Are Kano's Ball wakeups stuffable? Perhaps my timing's just off, but I have much more trouble with those than with other wakeups.

I'm not sure as rarely fight any Kano but will test it and will let you know. I do plan to eventually do a guide at somepoint detailing the wakeups that can be beat by F1 depending on the combo ender. I just need to find the time to do it.

This very well may have been mentioned already, but I didnt catch it.

I noticed her J2, if landed quite deep in the jump, will jail into F3.

I was under the impression you couldn't connect F3 after any jump attacks, but after some practice I was able to do it pretty consistently.
Too bad her J2 is such garbage, range-wise!

So I have a pretty basic question because I've been away for so long since the game came out. Why can't I do bf1 consistently? The move doesn't come out most of the time. I've practiced it in training mode but I still can't do it properly.

Check your controls to see if you have release check on.
 
Discovered something (might be known but new to me) that is universal but helpful for Mileena because of her combos that use 1+3.

In combos you can substitute the 1+3 portion with the Throw Button.

e.g. B12, 1+3 = B12, Throw Button

This works with Input Shortcuts enabled or disabled. However a mapped Interactable button doesn't work for combos that require 1+2 (e.g. 4U3, 1+2)
