I believe this is the actual frame data on fully held TG strings:

F12b2: -7
B32: -7
f22+4: -2
32+4: -2
112: -10
B112: -10

Keep in mind, lots of pushback on all strings.
Very nice but if this is correct it means the reptile ex slide is 6 frames? i thought it was 7 this entire time lol

What's to stop me from blocking your poke then doing f12b2 again. You are losing the exchange because I am chipping you out, as well as building a ton of meter. If you poke don't do it everything because you well be read and countered. Did you know if kano uses d4 after my f12b2 I can walk backwards and whiff punish with b2 or b3, and I'm sure those aren't my only whiff punish options. Raiden probably has the best counterpoking game so telling people to poke might be not be the best advice.
Yeah I never said that Raiden didn't have any options against blocking his strings. It's just letting people know of their options for a Raiden player that likes to go f1,2b2 (hold) and then try to do the same string again straight after

I understand but what I'm saying is by telling them to poke they are ultimately putting themselves in the same situation, and if the poke happens to be punishable then they give up free damage. I know you are trying to help familiarize people w their post f12b2 options but that it's a poor option majority of the time

Yep I agree good sir. There are definitely better options, and it was simply to make people aware of what frames they have after blocking it etc

Someone please tell me I am wrong, but when I was practicing with Raiden last night, it seemed to me that the range of F2, 2+4 is now shorter. I know the patch notes didn't say anything about shortening his range on anything so maybe I am just imagining things.

has anyone gotten the EX lightning trick in TG to work post patch on PS4? I've messed around with it a lot and I haven't been able to get it to hit and leave the ball behind. I know the timing is strict, so I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time trying to do the impossible

I noticed some frame data corrections after the patch.

1 has gone from 0 to +1 on block
F2 has gone from 0 to +2 on block
3 has gone from 0 to +2 on block
34 has gone from 0 to -2 on block
B34 has gone from 0 to -2 on block

This is the first time I've seen a normal attack listed as + on block.

I just tested F2 against Shinnok's 6 frame D1, and it is indeed a frame trap.

I dunno if it's always been +2, but having a legit frame trap off of a great poke like F2 is awesome.

as long as the range of B3, 2 is the same. love that move

does anyone know what is happening when i do my typical F1, 2, B2 and all the sudden im teleporting and shooting out lightning as if i was doing a 1122[hold]. it seems to happen to me randomly but im always happy it does. maybe im just doing a 1122 and not realizing it

You just do a B2 and then input a shocker as the first hit of the B2 makes contact.

If you time it correctly, you'll get a shocker on block, and a clean B2 on hit.

yo how do i get a thunder god banner
Click on the TYM logo and a sidebar will pop up on the right side with your profile picture. It says Messages, Likes, Points.

Click on the space right underneath where it says "Points" and it should give you a list of mood banners.

I was watching the latest Galloping Ghost Arcade stream and they mentioned Raiden's option select for the overhead, where if the opponent blocked the overhead shocker would come out.

I was wondering if anyone could tell the inputs to perform this option select.

EDIT:NVM, read through the forums and found it.

Just wanted to point out, even though TG has unreal mixup options to end combos w, that b111+3 is his most advantageous knockdown. Just throwing it out there since I don't really see people working with this much. Wakeup reversals, ex thunderbolt setups etc may be possible.

Do you guys think another nerf to the protector of Earthrealm is coming? Everyone seems to be calling for his head on a "normalized" platter! What would it be?

I sure as hell hope that normalize means--

Displacer and MOS are buffed to the point where TG isn't just the brain dead pick anymore.

Ideas for Displacer --
  • Ability to teleport from air to ground (A2G) with the usual d,u input. Would give some combo potential with EX teleport.
  • Ability to teleport from air to air (A2A), input would be u,d or something. Would give him ability to do flashier air combos like 2 air supermans back to back.
  • Ability to teleport from ground to air (G2A) similar to Shinnok's/Kenshi G2A teleports.
  • Make the metered superman teleport punch do about 5%+ more damage.
Ideas for MOS --
  • Give orbs more utility across the board, such as:
  • Ability to cancel lightning ball into an orb (IE the projectile stops, and shrinks down into an orb).
  • Ability to cancel EX lightning ball into a double orb which activates immediately.
  • Ability to summon an orb (or orbs) to him after creating them.
  • Summoned orb(s) swirl around him in a defensive pattern, granting the following buffs:
  • Each orb gives him a "damage aura" like Noxious Reptile or Scorpion's flame aura.
  • Each orb acts as a layer of projectile armor, allowing him to eat one projectile (with damage) which consumes the orb.
  • When Raiden summons a second orb (IE already has one on him), it acts similar to a 2nd air orb -- after a moment, the 2 orbs connect, and he is cloaked in lightning for 2 seconds before both disappear. This does increased chip "aura" damage and works as an auto reveral if the enemy touches him with a melee-ranged attack.
Anyway, those are just some brainstorms from myself on how to normalize Raiden (IE bring MOS and DISP up to par). Any thoughts?

Also, I was messing around in practice mode the other day and notice that there's a small window after a normal teleport where he can teleport immediately again. This can be repeated. This can be done BEFORE he is able to block, but the timing seems strict. Anyone mess with this?

I predict that "normalize" means nerf TG in a way that hurts Displacer and MoS as well, seems to be a commonplace in the FGC. I think the 6 frame forward1, 2 getting nerfed is going to happen, but I hope not.

It would be reasonable to have them make F12 -4 on block instead of -3, most characters have the 9 frame down 1. Even though I'm pretty sure between D1 or D2 every character should already have a button 8 frames or lower to counterpoke/punish, but that will give people a bit more wiggle room. But it won't matter though, the bigger mind game is between ending at F12 or going into F12B2 and being about to react quick enough, or even the threat of armor.

Haven't messed with Displacer or MoS much yet to know what they need/if they need anything.

Yes, I noticed this a couple of wees ago. I've been using it online a lot and it seems to be working well. Only danger is sometimes people will freeze when you teleport and wait a bit before they attempt to punish. Sometimes those delayed attempts will actually hit you out of the second teleport.
