I'll find it difficult to believe any player who says they can consistently tech throws in MKX.

The system is practically a 50/50 built into another 50/50...by which I mean, you not only have to release block to tech a throw, you must also make a correct guess as to which direction the opponent will throw you. If you think they'll do a forward throw, time 2 or 4 against their input; if backwards, use 1 or 3.

But this is where things get ridiculous. You already made a hard read as to when the opponent will throw you, but now you have to guess where they will throw you? Why? One correct guess shouldn't lead to another guessing situation, especially one where you have no way of what is coming. For now, the reasoning will be for you to make the read on their direction depending on your position on the screen, but as the level of play becomes higher they may start fucking with your mind by throwing you away from the corner instead of towards it, as an example.

You could release block and perform a neutral crouch to make the throw whiff, allowing you to score a full punish, but you are risking eating a combo that could lead up to potentially over 30% or 40% just for the chance to escape 12% damage. Not quite as risky if you have a Breaker available, but still...not good odds by any means.

As for the poll, I voted 5%. :(

Like 1% or something.
I did it a couple of times on purpose cause my opponents were predictable and I could predict their throw.
But the other 99% I didn't do it on purpose.
Usually happens when I try to combo and they grab me, and I end up teching it.

I was actually gobsmacked when i found out they'd gone back to mk9's way of teching throws after having it the proper way in Injustice. Makes no sense to me

You think you bad? You aint bad.
I've teched like 35% of my throws on purpose, because even when I do read them, I don't get shit. This system still confuses me.
Its also fucked up because throwing is a 50 50 on its own. You have to guess the direction as well lol. I could tech throws in all games BUT this one -_-

I also seem to tech throws from a counter poke. But that doesnt count.

Only bother trying to tech throws mid combo if I remember that you can't still do it. Otherwise I duck and punish based on reads which I have had some success with.

Spammer. Crouch walk hater.
0%. The time it takes before reacting to the throw and releasing block...bam.. the window to tech is gone. That is if I even guessed right.

There is no reaction breaking in this game. Only reads, and then luck.

People are always doing forward throws I always mash forward tech first. The window really isn't that small but with so many 50/50s, nobody is looking for throws.

Also giving up the corner in this game isn't that smart in my opinion because of a lot of chars have strong corner game.

Its all about position. Forward is coming like 90% then back throws every once a while mostly when players want to escape the corner.

I probably tech throws 50% of the time. It depends on how many times you throw me. The more you do it, the easier is becomes for me to start teching. Mixing in well and I'll probably tech 5% aha

The 50/50 guess on the throw direction definitely needs to go. It adds no reward to the offender, the defender won't gain an advantage by its removal.

The initial guess/read and requisite to release of block to tech/avoid the throw is a perfectly acceptable yomi layer.

20% maybe. I'm getting better at it. Most of the time people will go for forward throws, and if they are cornered they will go for back throws.

It is still stupidly hard to tech, but it should be as characters with no real mixups need the throw to open the opponent up.
