Tech - Balanced Balanced Kenshi Tech Thread

I know that there are similar threads BUT I think it would be helpful for all the balanced kenshi mains to gather in one place and think give some tech and help eachother out since each variation is extremely different. Basically a thread dedicated to specifically balanced kenshi and helping him try and overcome everything he has stacked against him. I've had my week of bitching and im not proud of it, instead I want to do something about it and find out what works in certain match ups and how to use this blind badass to his highest potential. as of right now the most success I have had was getting people frustrated and impatient, and baiting them out with a mid screen teleslash to bait out there run then punish it with a telefury, or just let them get in a little then let them get impatient and hit them with an EXRK for a full combo punish that will also send them full screen. Kenshi also of course has excellent air control, if people dont know that they cannot jump against balanced kenshi, then they will learn that after eating many many teleslices, telefuries, and rising karmas. there is also his 40-42% meterless corner combo, 42% for punishing someone unsafe options to attempt to get out (B32 (or F32 for the punisher) RK NJP F3RK 43 (wait for every kick to hit) telefury) another combo I like to do in the corner that will reset them to full screen is 42-44%damage and requires 1 bar of meter (B32(or F32 for full combo punish) RK NJP F32 EXRK 22 Telefury(input needs to be reversed) then this sets them full screen and tends to frustrate people. Unfortuanately my biggest problem is having to guess when I will hit them since as soon as I pull out the RK that shit is punishable by the entire cast. but of course if you play balanced kenshi, then you already know that, if anyone can find some tech to try and make his stuff safer, that would be incredible, that is currently what i am working on and I have not had much luck with it. I hope to make kenshi look way better than he actually is, and I am hoping other balanced kenshis will help me do so, I will never give up on this character.

EDIT: Kenshi is much better now but still continue to post tech when you find it, after all it can never hurt to improve
One more thing, dont derail the thread, i want this to be purely kenshi strategies, tech, and combos, i dont want this to be cluttered as hell

Balanced Kenshi here. I'll upload a video of what I've been doing with my Kenshi
that would be awesome dude, im curious to see what you are doing that i might not be doing. should probably update the OP by posting a video of my own of all the tech i know with kenshi so far

I'm a Balanced Kenshi main as well! Pretty much everything you mentioned in your OP is similar to how I play. I do take a more defensive approach with kenshi, to were the opponent is frustrated and I punish their advances with his specials and EXRK or they respect the zoning game and I charge in with throws or B3 into combos when they least expect it. EXRK is amazing IMO on wake up and defense if used properly.

I'm looking forward to seeing more tech for kenshi

We're going to be having our next Top of the Food Chain tournament this weekend. Hopefully I'll get some stream time. I'll be using mainly Balanced Kenshi but will switch to Possessed depending on who I'm facing.
awesome, what stream and what time? I will put the matches in the OP once they are up on youtube

Alright I have been trying to find option selects for balanced kenshi, I havent successfully done it but it seems like it may be possible to option slect B1 into RK and B32 into RK, but not entirely sure, if you guys could help me test it that would be awesome, if this can be done then he could become a much better character

It can be done. Watch Pig of the Hut's The Armory episode three on the section where he talks about OS. He uses Kenshi as an example and you can OS B32 into RK. I tried this myself last night and it works. I haven't tried it with B1 but i'm sure it'll work just as well.

yeah, because he was using possessed I wanted to check if it works with balanced, and it does. I find it works easiest if you press DDBlock after RK (as mentioned in his vid, but use what works for you). It's a little awkward at first, but you have to press it immediately after RK.

it is tough for me to do that since i am on a fight stick, it seems like i would be able to do it no problem on a controller though.

I hear ya. I find it easier to play MK games on a controller, because of the block button. I know there are some who say it works just by pressing down twice without block, but I couldn't do it. I had to use block. I did manage to get it to work just by pressing DBlock a couple of times. If I hear/see any other way of making it easier to achieve this on a fight stick, i'll let you know.

alright thanks man, although i personally find it easier to use a fight stick for MK games. probably because im used to it :/ Im going to try a variety of ways to do it

MK1 is the best MK period.
In the corner 114 ex bf2 in balance re stands them not a kenshi main so I don't know any combo to use this as a ender but as for now this by it's self is negative I set the dummy to jump and the dummy jumped way before I could. Though t you guys should tinker with this.

Hmmm good find I will tinker around with this when I get home from vacation next week, thanks for the post

So this is probably really bad but if you have nothing better to do then try out my standing 1 gimmick. I don't feel like playing any online atm so I'm just in the lab but I feel like this would work online because standing 1 is really hard to react to.

Basically you start off with 1 xx overhead. This is really unsafe but who blocks high against Kenshi? If it connects you can get a free 50/50 grab, or if you're bold do it again lol. Anyway, when you read that your opponent is stand blocking, you do standing 1, then as soon as possible b3 into launcher. It's gimmicky since 1 is 0 on block but the recovery is deceptively fast for its animation therefore you should be able to get b3 out before any counter pokes. Remember this is all in theory so don't blame me if it never works haha

This is a bit gimmicky but it seems like it could really throw people of if you know where to place it, thank you very much for bringing this to my attention and I will be sure to try and impliment this into my game plan and see if it works

Opponent can counter poke(d1/d2 generally) before the tele OH hits if 1 is blocked and I believe on hit tele OH kenshi is -1.

He said that in his post that the opponent could counter poke, but who knows how good or bad it will be until it is put into practice :/ I am going to try and dabble it into my play and see if I should keep the tech or drop it, I will post in the thread my results and opinion of the strat in a couple days

EDIT: never mind read the post again and saw that theoretically he thought you could d3 before the counter poke, you were right. To be honest I doubt d3 would work, it is too slow but as I said I will go ahead and still post on the thread later of my results of the strategy

Are you guys talking about counter poking the OH tele on reaction or prepared after multiple attempts? If the latter you could do 11 instead of 1 I suppose

Yes, however I don't think many players would be able to counter poke it on reaction their first time, I think it will be useful to sprinkle in every once in a while but not often, once I get home and screw around with it for a couple days I will see how well it works. And I may also use it in tournament to see how well it works there as well. I am very very intrigued by it however unfortunately it seems very gimmicky. Hence why I think would be excellent to sprinkle in every once in a while to their people off
